Mustang Hollow Campground — Hotel in Mathis

We called ahead and asked if they had spots available for a 42 foot class a motorhome with full 50 amp hook up and was told yes. When arrived we were charged for the site and also a charge for our 25 pound dog.And was immediately told there were no spots large enough for the motorhome and trailer which we accepted. We were shown a place to put the trailer for the night. We then followed the cart around the park that was so tight they had to knock on doors and get people to move their trucks. Then as I was trying to navigate around pickups I was guided right into a tree branch that hit the motorhome. When we finally got to the site the 30 amp electricity and water were on the wrong side for a motorhome and no sewer. We were so upset that we just started our generator and slept with no slides out. It was too dark to pull out of the mess they call an RV Park. We got up early the next morning and it took approx 45 minutes to maneuver around the tree stumps and overhanging limbs along the winding gravel road that lead back up to the front of the so called RV Park. This place had virtually no spots big enough to safely accommodate larger class a motorhomes.We found a great spot at Lake Corpus Christi Sunrise Beach. I will have to say I was super pumped to visit as the ratings and speaking to the young lady on the phone at Mustang Hollow. When we arrived it was nothing as I expected it to be. I noticed that the pool was green and asked the lady and she stated pool chemicals arrived late and they just had a rain which made it turn extremely green. Ok understandable that happens.... This place was over ran by folks that obviously didn’t care about the place that has so much potential. Not one time did I see anyone from the park get on to what was occurring at the time of our visit. We seen individuals mudding in their vehicles, and on small ATV’s through out the park. They were destroying it. The roads were already really really bad and didn’t need to be destroyed anymore than they already were. The lights went out in the middle of the night. Which I went back and read some more reviews and it stated that the pool was green all the time and the lights always seemed to go out pretty frequently. This place has so much potential but if your looking for a place to relax and enjoy the amenities this place is not for you. I’m sorry we are frequent travelers and this is by far the worse place we’ve ever stayed at. And I don’t say...

We called and reserved a campground in Mathis about 10 minutes away from this campground because it was closer to my new job. We spoke over the phone and everything seemed fine, but when we arrived they said we could not have our deep freezer or my tool boxes for work at the campground and that i needed to find a more family oriented campground because my wife and two kids were with me. We were completly stunned and since it was about to be the fourth of july weekend we didn't even know if it would be possible to find another one. We came across this campground later that evening and we could not believe how lucky we were that they had spots open. They have a pool and playground. Our kids love seeing the animals. They also have a dock on the water. They have storage where we were able to park our trailer with my boxes on it. They make pizza at the store on the campground. The woman at the office went above and beyond to help us get situated and make us feel welcome. This is a great campground and i would recommend it...
