I went here on a Sunday a bit later in the day to renew my membership and get a day pass. When I got there I was told they’d be closing at a different time than their website. Which, okay, I’ll be mindful of the time and not overstay. Had a good couple hours of chatting and hanging out in the pool. But something felt ‘off’…
The thing that is off is the ownership. This is a place to go if you enjoy hanging out with a schoolyard bully that has a middle school mentality (the new owner).
I paid $20 for maybe two hours in a pool, and felt like I was doing them a disservice being there. Not only that, this is after buying a membership and two passes last year, $60. Even then, I had some creeping feelings I just wasn’t accepted there. I made the huge mistake of going back…
This time I was getting angrily glared at the entire time by the owner. Way more off putting, not even trying to hide it. I did my best to ignore it, as I was there simply to relax.
Then, I was insulted as I was leaving, by said owner. The c-word was hurled as I was walking out the door. This was after I politely said goodbye.
I just kept walking, half in disbelief at what just happened, and half pondering what I could have possibly done to warrant that treatment. The sad part is I left my house that day thinking I found a nice place to be accepted, and get away from daily stresses. Instead it added another.
This is a ridiculous place, wouldn’t call it a business let alone a “club”. Never going back, not recommending it to anyone. I’ll speak up for myself if I’m mistreated. I’ll speak up for others who are likely getting the same mistreatment here (read some of the other lower reviews, there’s a pattern). This is all warranted, I’m not removing this review, please...
Read moreI've never been to anything like Stag Run before last Summer. I am an East Coast boy that has been living in Louisville for a while. I hesitated going with friends to Stag Run till I heard they had AC in their cabins (this big ole bear doesn't DO heat too well). I went with a buddy for a weekend and have other friends come up for day trips on Saturday and Sunday. I absolutely loved it. Tom and Dennis were great. Other guests were great. Cabin was clean and solid. Pool was nice. Enjoyed the outside shower. I expected primitive, attitude, maybe emphasis on tricking, etc. It was none of that. It was a very powerful experience of meeting new and exciting gay men. There was a wide range of ages and body types represented.
I had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, so I put on sandals and went outside to go to the main lodge. The moon was full, making the whole area look like it was lit up. There was a bit of fog around the edges of the compound. It was simply magical and surreal.
Friends and I are planning trips for...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed at Stag Run a couple of years ago when it was owned by different people. It wasn’t really very crowded, but we had fun nonetheless. We felt welcome, we ate dinner, socialized at the pool, went on a hay ride and even made bird houses. We recently returned to a campground that looks the same on the outside but is very different on the inside. It was not a friendly place and we left wondering if there were some rules we didn’t follow because of the way everyone talked down to us. The owners said they had some donuts they were about to throw in the trash, but they could give them to us instead if we wanted them. I think they actually felt like we should be flattered for being offered what they considered to be trash. We’re not the richest people but we didn’t ask for or need anything extra from anyone. We had a...
