Before I start my review, I must share that we are not flashy people. We work hard and need a vacation to disconnect. And, we rented the cottage for 3 nights trying to get a magical experience in Maui's country side. The positive: 15 minutes from the airport 10-15 minutes from the beach, Hana road, stores, and restaurants Plenty of fruit trees in the property Very comfortable beds Full kitchen Lots of sweet dogs, Ace is awesome The not so exciting: It is not a "bed and breakfast." There is no breakfast. It is a hostel. There are also some residents living in tents in the backyard. It is on main Street so expect it to be loud! The cottage is right next to a main road. It not a magical place (it's like if your neighbors let your crash at their guest house). Don't you dare asking for toilet paper, she will embarrass you with, "what, you used all the rolls I left there, that was 3 rolls?!" Ahhh what do you respond to that? Yes lady, we had no paper towels or napkins so we had to use it. A lot of people that are staying here are either trading work for a place to stay. We felt like the outcast family because we were the only ones paying for our stay. There was also a tree trimming scheduled early Saturday morning that we felt could have been scheduled in the afternoon. This is a self check in place which caught us off guard. We had no idea how everything worked, we were fortunate enough that some of their regular guest knew the code to our door! They also helped us with the wifi. I feel that if you're charging $300+ fees/night asking for the basic essentials should not leave guests with a sour feeling. This place is good to spend one night as your last resource. This is a great place if you plan to drive to Hana.

First of all, this should not be called a Bed & Breakfast. It is a hostel, plain and simple. It’s set up like a hostel and feels very much like a hostel. They don’t offer any breakfast. What you get is equivalent to a snack for a 4 year old, a juice/fruit squeeze and a small snack bar. Why even bother? Other than that the place was great for the price you pay. I understand that the pandemic has been tough on businesses but please don’t call this a B&B. It was clean by Hawaii standards and the bed was comfortable. We stayed in the Hibiscus room, a separate cabin on the back of the property. It was quiet and had a porch facing Haleakala. The bed was comfortable. We needed a room with two beds and this was the only one left. The second bed was not great, an ottoman that folded out into a bed. Basically a mini sofa bed, yikes. We knew this ahead of time so it wasn’t much of a surprise. When you pull it out and set it up there is no room to move around in the cabin the beds take up the whole room, that was a surprise. I do not recommend this space if you need two separate beds. Great place in upcountry, cool at night and great views. A really good place for tackling the Road to Hana. I would stay here again as the price was very affordable. There are some great options for a real breakfast close by after you’ve finished your juice box and snack bar! Try Island Fresh in Paia.

I stayed in mid-November, in the Hibiscus Room, which was a separate cabin. I met Mika and he gave me a tour of the place and my accommodations. I also met Tammi later in the day. Both were very friendly and charming. The Hibiscus Room included a queen-sized bed, a dresser, side tables, a refrigerator, and a standing fan. There was also a ceiling fan, four sliding windows, and a private deck with chairs and a table that faced a working Pineapple Field. It also came with bath towels and a beach towel for the jacuzzi. The bathroom was a short walk to the main house but there were four shower rooms and four toilets. Breakfast consisted of oatmeal and coffee but I'm not a breakfast person. I'm good with a fiber bar and water. I stayed three nights and I think I was eventually the only one staying at the place. I did not use the outdoor shower or jacuzzi because it was a little cool in the late afternoon. I rented a car in Kona and drove to Peace of Maui. On the way, I stopped at Whole Foods and purchased a few meals to put in the refrigerator. Each morning I went to Haleakala and did a lot of hiking and was even able to get Sunrise Tickets! One day back, I stopped at Waikulu Distillery, which is up the street, to enjoy their Agave Spirits. Another day, I stopped at the little town of Makawao, which is on the way back from Haleakala, and walked around. So cute! Each eveningI would sit on the deck and enjoy my Whole Foods meal and marvel at the Sunset colors. Lots of birds. And the flowers and pineapples smelled awesome. My room had a little Gecko I named Gary who was more scared of me than I was of him and he hid behind the dresser. I hope he's okay! I really enjoyed my stay. I think next time I would stay in the actual house so I was closer to...

ROACH MOTEL!! I booked two rooms for myself and for friends as we did a girls trip. On our last night we got there at roughly 8 PM and within 15 minutes of having our bags inside we saw numerous roaches. I know it is very common in Hawaii as any tropical area to have roaches But it is unacceptable when it is infested. They were in the bathroom running down the hall and came out from the refrigerator that was in our room. We immediately loaded our bags back into the car and went to the outdoor area and sat there the rest of the night until it was time to leave. We observed quiet time which began at 10 PM by turning off our phones which were extremely low to begin with and the girls dozed in the chairs or got back in the car to sleep the remainder of the evening as we had nowhere else to go. When contacting the owners stated our activity kept the other guests awake throughout the night. That is laughable because last time I checked sleeping is typically a quiet activity. They stated that they know they have roaches and this is a part of Maui living. An infested house full of roaches is not common living for anyone with any type of living standards. This place is disgusting and the only people that were loud during the stay where the owners of the property who live upstairs which had their TVs blasting inhibiting us from being able to doze off in our outside chairs. There were people using the common area in the kitchen to brush their teeth and spit in the sink. This was also OK with the owners when brought to their attention. Don’t waste your money just find somewhere else to stay. This place is totally a hostile and not in any way shape or form close to a bed-and-breakfast. WELCOME TO...
