Ho'omana Spa Maui — Hotel in Maui

The minute I made the phone call, I knew that this place was exactly where we needed to be. The woman who took my reservation had the most soothing voice and she was so patient with all of my questions. When my husband and I arrived to Ho'omana Spa, it was like a magical little oasis, perched on the side of Haleakala, complete with tropical flowers, beautiful bird songs, and such a peaceful sound of silence. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who took us to the back lanai to wait for our treatments (and watch the world go by). Alison came out to the lanai and sat on the ground and explained all of the lotions, sprays, oils, and scrubs that they would be using on us and asked us to choose which ones we wanted. Alison guided me with choices because it was so hard to choose because they all smelled so lovely and each of them had healing qualities that sounded amazing. We also learned that all of the products are made there at the spa, which made us so happy they weren't full of preservatives/chemicals. My therapist was Isla. I chose the Signature Lomi Lomi Deep Tissue Massage with the Body Polish and Mini Facial Add-ons. It was the perfect choice and the extended amount of time of the table truly allowed me to shut down my racing mind from work and the rat race outside of the spa. Isla started the treatment with a beautiful Hawaiian chant and then proceeded to float her hands across my body with long flowing strokes were firm enough to feel a release of tension from my muscles, but gentle enough to really be able to relax, rather than tensing up at the knots. At the end of our massages, we were greeted with a yummy Hawaiian chocolate......and later followed up with a text thanking us for visiting, as well as instruction to drink plenty of water and listen to our body as it continues to unwind over the next couple days. We felt truly cared for in the 3 hours we were at the spa.

Sadly, our trip was coming to end on Maui at the time of our visit to the spa, but we wanted to bring home a few gifts for our grown children and their partners. After 5 weeks on the island, we couldn't find the "right" gifts, so we were going to go home with none. We changed this thought after experiencing Ho'omana Spa and their skincare products. They exuded such a special vibe and carried such a feeling of Maui magic that we decided to take home skin care products for the kiddos....and me, too (body polish salts, bath salts, body spray....and even a couple of Christmas stocking stuffers for my husband to remind him of this magical experience). Not only was it worth spending the money, but we felt embraced by the staff and nurtured by the products and the experience.

Thank you, Isla, for my treatment and the great recommendation to go to Marlow for super yummy wood fired sourdough pizza. It was the icing the cake for our afternoon/evening of pampering. Thank you, Allison, for taking the time to educate us about the products, and for giving my husband an awesome treatment. Long post-worth the read- I completely understand, you are going to Maui and you are researching spas as you want an epic experience. You start with the big resorts as they feel inviting, grand and special. I did too. I decided I wanted an experience that wasn’t just about the facilities, everything in Maui is beautiful, I wanted an experience where I could be connected to culture, my wellness needs and do something special for my mind, body and spirit . Well, I found it here. From my first conversation with Haley on the phone, I knew I was in for a magical experience, when I met her, her energy was infectious . I was able to witness a tiny moment where she was walking through the waiting area and she literally skipped for a second. That tiny hop spoke loudly to the happiness and true joy in this place, she was completely unaware that I witnessed it, until I couldn't help but point it out and we both laughed. Now for Justina, I can’t even begin to express my gratitude to her. She worked on my body for over 80 minutes! She is a healer, she has an incredible gift not often found and trust me I have traveled all over the world in pursuit of the most unique spa experiences. She took my body on a journey from the perfect strokes of her hands, elbows and fingers which literally felt like waves of warmth gliding over my body. Her pressure was perfection and she checked in with me along the way to make sure I was good. She was breathing with me during the experience, Justina sounded like the ocean. No joke, the ocean was far away but I often felt it was right outside the window. I felt safe to completely relax and just surrender and insecurities of letting someone else take care of me for once, I let go and just trusted her to take care of me. I needed this experience more than I knew, I walked away with not only awareness , I walked away with a new commitment to find time to protect my body and mind. This was hands down the most epic massage of my life! It started with a Hawaiin blessing though song and chant, it was emotional caviar! This isn’t just a spa, it is a place where teachings go back many generations on the art of manipulating your body to release, increase mobility and calm your spirit and so much more! It feels like the standards to work here are very high and the ability to connect is clear. I will be back to Maui to come here specifically. This is the 2nd time I’ve come here for a 80-minute massage and it is OUT OF THIS WORLD spectacular! I had Meggie the first time and absolutely loved her. She did an authentic Hawaiian chant before the massage started and it set the mood perfectly and made me feel very relaxed and in tune with Maui’s energy and mana. I absolutely loved it. Prior to my massage with Meggie I did the hot bath soak which was in the same room and made it extra special to dry off and hop right onto the massage bed. My muscles were very warm and relaxed. They were kind enough to let me come early and access the room to pump (as I’m a breastfeeding mother) before taking my bath and getting my massage. This is the kind of customer service I absolutely wish every business practiced. The entire experience was perfect and it even rained during my session which was very calming to hear the raindrops above and outside. It made the experience more authentic and true to Hawai’i. I loved all the house made infused sprays, oils and creams they use— they’re organic and feel and smell pure in every possible way. The smell caused immediate relaxation over my entire body. I loved that Meggie asked if she could massage my stomach. I’ve never had that body part massaged and WOW was I happy I said yes because it was shockingly very therapeutic and felt heavenly. I had no idea having your stomach massaged, and around your belly button could feel so good. I was pleasantly surprised. The second time I went I had Lauren! She was equally as incredible with her massage style and feel. She was methodical in her movements and spent extra time working out my tension areas in a way where my muscles were completely relaxed with her, never tensing up in defense and never causing pain or “scaring” my muscles. I loved every minute of Lauren’s massage and wish it never ended. You cannot go wrong with any therapist because my mom had Matthew and my sister had Char and they both said their therapists were incredible too. Do yourself a favor and book a massage.
