This place is definitely the best kept secret on Maui! We enjoyed the cottage for three nights (Dec 1-4) for peace and relaxation before we headed to a very busy schedule on Oahu for the next 10 days. The cottage was very welcoming with surprises throughout. The set up was amazing as they utilized the square footage to maximum advantage in this well equipped with all the amenities and comforts of home, or a resort, without the noise or disruptions from other guests. The bed, bedding, and pillows were very comfortable. The temperature was perfect with the fans and an AC unit if needed. The cottage was very quiet and private, even in the outdoor shower, and with other guests occupying the other 3 units (spaced out). Other than a car passing by rarely, we felt like we were there alone. There were many books, movies to watch, TV/DVD, and internet - if you require that in this oasis. The hot tub was a nice way to start or end our day stargazing. I loved waking up with the roosters, having fresh coffee, catching the sunrise on the Cliff Walk, and just admiring the space and all the island creatures we shared it with. Even the spider webs were so intricately curated and beautiful, I did not want to disrupt them! They compost and recycle too - loved that as well! In addition, the cottage was provided with a small charcoal grill, 2 nice beach chairs, beach towels, 2 boogie boards, and a cooler. Huelo Pt Lookout was my most memorable stay in all of Hawaii. A place I hope to replicate for my own one day - in the mountains. You won't be disappointed! Side note: we arrived after dark and had a little difficulty finding this beautiful place. Placed a call to the host, Sharyn, and her son, Kai, came out to meet us and guided us to the right location. Such a gem!

We stayed at the Star Cottage at Huelo Point Lookout, and it was truly a gem of an experience! The cottage itself is adorable and the owners gave us such a warm welcome with fresh native flowers placed on the towels and in every room as well as a couple welcome gifts in the kitchen. They made up the day bed for our son, and he loved his space. We appreciated having our bed in the loft area. The property is immaculate and private. We swam in the pool shared by 2 other cottages and never saw anyone so it felt like our personal pool. We did have a private hot tub which was fantastic. I especially loved the outdoor shower which we used every day - we never even used the indoor one. There is a walk to the cliffs overlooking the ocean and we saw sunsets and sunrises from this point. So special. It was so convenient to be on the Road to Hana. We were super close to Twin Falls where we swam in the waterfall pools. It also gave us a head start to get to Hana before traffic got bad. We got up early to attend our reservation from 7-10 a.m. at the Black Sand Beach near Hana which was a highlight. We did the sunset at Haleakala and being on that side of the island made the trip shorter. We could get to Paia pretty quickly....shopping, eating, beaches....everything you need!

This place was amazing. My husband and I went for our 5 year anniversary. It gave us the privacy we wanted as well as being located in a perfect spot to be able to pack up get head to the nearest beach, town, waterfall, hike.. you name it! The house itself was cozy and clean. We stayed in a couple nights and cooked dinner and played games that they had at the house. Other days we took advantage of the cooler, beach chairs and boogie boards that they had for us! The cliff walk was also beautiful at the house.. and who can forget the private hot tub on the back deck. All in all an amazing spot, we will definitely be coming again. Ps- take advantage of the book they leave for you! Lots of amazing tips, we ended up taking it with us each day so we didn’t forget the locations!

My family of three stayed here during the Christmas holiday, and we could not have been happier! To start, the location was just perfect! Just a couple miles off the official start of the Road to Hana (look for a spot with several mailboxes on the left for your turn off if coming from the airport!!!). The location was the perfect starting off point for so many nearby adventures - Road to Hana, the Haleakala Summit and upcountry, Jungle Zipline, and not far from the airport, Paia, or Hookipa Beach either. It is a narrow country road, though, so make sure to drive SLOWLY! We drove ALL OVER the island, and this side was by far our favorite! The property itself is just magical - fruit trees all over the place, tropical plants, a gorgeous pool, access to a serene cliff walk, and wonderful privacy. We only saw one other person the entire time there, and he was barely within shouting distance. We stayed in the Star Cottage for 4 nights. The actual house has kind of a quirky layout, but it worked for us. There is a loft room upstairs with a king-sized bed and TV which gives you access to your streaming services. The downstairs has a pullout bed if needed, a small kitchen and dining area, bathroom in the back with a bath and shower, and an outdoor shower and HOT TUB on the deck! There is also another deck off the back of the house. Great size for a couple or small family. Now, onto the hospitality...which, again, was just perfect! Sharyn, Kai, and Jess were all wonderful, since the second we booked it. So accommodating, incredibly helpful, and communicative whenever we needed anything. You can tell they love what they do and want to make sure you have an enjoyable memorable stay, which we absolutely did! There were even welcome treats when we arrived, which were just the cherry on top after a long day of travelling. We will definitely try to stay here again when we are...

We truly considered the Lookout House at Huelo Point Lookout “home” by the end of our stay and were sad to leave. If you want to stay on one of the most spectacular, well-maintained properties you’ve ever seen in your life, look no further. It’s situated on what we found was the best side (the North) of the island, tucked away from it all, accessible only by private dirt road on a quiet land all its own with the most breathtaking views. The amount of thought and unexpected touches, from the gorgeous Hibiscus and Frangipani blooms left in every room, the bottle of wine staged with wine glasses, the fresh coffee beans (with a provided grinder), bread, eggs, pineapple and apple bananas, the butter, jams and creamer, the guava juice to the milk chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, the hosts could not have gone any more above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

My family and I (five of us in total) enjoyed walking the grounds to visit the chickens, to look for chameleons and geckos, to swing on the hammock and to walk the “cliff trail.” We made use of the pool and private hot tub upon our arrival home from exploring the island each day and it was such a wonderful way to unwind. We truly never would have guessed other guests were staying on the property had we not met a delightful couple one evening at the pool. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the kitchen on a daily basis and it was stocked with most of what we needed. Each room was clean and comfortable and felt just as it should—that we were staying on a tropical island. Sharyn was quick to respond to every correspondence and provided top-notch recommendations. We were fortunate to meet her and she was just as lovely to talk to in-person. We will undoubtedly stay at Huelo Point Lookout if/when we travel to Maui again in the future. Look no further than this slice...
