We stayed in the family house. Three adults and 7 kiddos. It's got a real "church youth group" retreat feel to it. The living room is uncomfortable and sparse. Tons of beds and they were fairly comfortable. The downstairs (basement) level is freezing but we liked that. The kitchen needs an island and it was barely stocked with enough tools to cook for 2 people let alone 10 to 20. No dish towels, no kitchen rug, one or two pots and pans, no plastic bowls or tupperware. It's definitely NOT like an Airbnb where there's a cabinet of odds and ends. We picked up groceries on our way only to find we needed to return to purchase coffee filters, salt and pepper and other things that are standard amenities when you rent a large home from airbnb. That stuff is cheap and should be provided. We left the remainder of our 200 filters (195) for the next person along with some other necessary supplies. Hopefully they will help out the next person. Maybe the staff just takes everything for themselves when folks leave? The sleeping rooms are carpeted and the large living/ dining area are hard flooring but there wasnt a vacuum or mop to be had in case you needed to clean up. Any house that is meant to accommodate large groups (with kids) should have those things. Especially when you're expected to leave it in the condition you found it. We went back to the store to buy a swifter mop and no matter how many times I mopped the floor was never clean and the mop pad was black with dirt. The Airbnb ad said it had a highchair which meant you had to go to the snack bar to get one of their wooden table highchairs. The kind restaurants have with no tray and not functional for any child under 6 months. The split level steps that go up and down arr completely unsafe for kids. The spindles are like 12+ inches apart and a small child could easily fall from the second level straight down to the bsmt. So that was another trip back to the store to spend $60 bucks on a walkthrough baby gate. Plus $20 on an electric screwdriver in case the baby was strong enough to push the tension mount and still tumble down the stairs. The gift shop is way overpriced but that's to be expected. One of the pool slides was broken and it was broken 4 yrs ago when we stayed in one of the larger cabins. But the pools and splash pads were great otherwise. Unfortunately, they don't open until 11am which kinda sucks for kids who wake up at 6am. I think 9am or 10am would be more appropriate. Another issue is that they're not really clear about how and when to sign up for the zip line and other paid activities. They need a booklet that gives accurate info like "all children must be present at sign up" and "you can sign up in advance". We wasted a lot of their and our time because of vague information. Another thing of note is that they have expanded since we were last here and now visiting guests have to park at the entrance and walk to the other side of the campground. So my cousins with kids had to carry their baby, and all their pool supplies, etc and drag their young kids across the grounds. Then go back for a watermelon. When it's 90 degrees. That really sucks. Overall, the staff was really friendly and the kids had a blast. It was just a rough stay for adults due to the dirty conditions, lack of supplies, no comfortable place to sit and relax in the house, having to drop off and pickup visiting family member (who pay to visit) at the entrance, and charging like three thousand dollars for 5 days of vacation that...
Read moreAs a previous owner of a much smaller campground for 16 years, I was greatly impressed with this campground. Most of the sites, particularly long term sites, are quite large, grassy and many, quite shady. Very nice pools (two), but the slides can only accommodate up to 120 lbs. Extremely nice playground! They even have a challenge course (like a high ropes course), and zip line. They even have a laser tag course. Virtually everything that a family would want to enjoy! The staff, at least those that I came in contact with, were extremely pleasant and helpful. HOWEVER, their internet service, which they charge $30/month for, leaves a LOT to be desired. We were approx. 50ft from the access point and got a poor signal. The management did not seem motivated to spend the money to get a viable system in place. Skylink has a business solution, but the antenna is $2500 plus $500 per month. Their monthly rates are somewhere between $850 - $1200 per month with quite a few monthly sites (very, very high), MORE than plenty enough to pay for adequate internet, and then worth paying the necessary $30 helpful for decent internet connections. Another HOWEVER, but not the fault of the campground or management, very poor T-Mobile service with only about 50/50 chance of placing a call going out and less on getting calls. BUT, this, combined with the lack of interest service is why we had to cut or 6 month stay to 3 weeks. Their high monthly rates are tolerated due to contract laborers that are getting significantly more in their per diem. Non-contract workers are thus paying the high rates for their amenities and being virtually the only private campground in the area! I came very close to giving them a much lower rating because they chose to refill the pool from approx. 8am until sometimes 11am, leaving the water pressure below 5 psi. No one can shower, wash dishes (or anything else), or flush their holding tanks before leaving or even just starting their day. I talked to quite a few campers about my concerns, and most just seem to tolerate it because their per diem is enough to get some form of satellite coverage, or they fill their fresh water holding tanks. As I was leaving, I chatted with one of the workers (somewhat tall wearing a khaki style shirt, very polite and helpful) who shared that they had changed the time to evenings to fill the pool (nice, now no low pressure and heated water in the pool). They had also identified a problem with an improperly installed/repaired water line. Whoa, they listened to me! Now, onto fixing the internet and somehow convince T-Mobile to "re-shape" their network coverage! (And maybe lowering their prices a bit. Nah, don't hold your breath!) These problems caused us to shorten our scheduled 6 month stay to...
Read moreIf I could give it zero stars I would we paid almost 400 dollars to stay here and the main reason was because they were supposed to have so many things to do for the family however they failed to mention when we booked our stay that you had to on top of what your paying to stay that NOTHING but the pool was included in our stay so you had to pay another good bit per thing you wanted to do and on top of that NOTHING was up and running except the ropes challenge course and even that is only open a few days of the week and only between the hours of 10am and 11am then while my 12 yr old daughter is on the top of this ropes course scared and not knowing what to do next I told the teenager running it and he laughed at her and walked away from me so a complete stranger put on a harness and went up to help her because come to find out there is NO person that is going to walk you through the course your on ur own the entire time!!!!!! We had a group of skunks that chased us into our cabin our first night there so we could not enjoy anything outside our cabin we noticed a foul smell the second day there and went and told the office about that and the multiple hornets nest under our roof on the porch and NOTHING was done one of the teenagers that worked there told me the second morning there omg your in the cabin with the skunk nest under it wow so they knew and still stuck us there!!! so couldn't enjoy the fire pit or the grill and was scared to go out to use the bathroom after dark because they had already chased us back into our cabin the first night there. and then when I told the office about everything NOTHINGGGGG was done about the hornets nestssss or the skunks under our cabin!!!!! they claim to offer multiple activities through out the days however there was one only the 2nd morning there and it was poorly ran by a child worker!!! you had to pay 5.00 dollars to ride a ran down tricycle for 20 minutes, the game room had 5 games you had to pay over a dollar per game which ones were even actually worker we went to let them know that the money machine took our 20 and gave us no change and the child worker told me there isn't nothing we can do and laughed and walked away!!!! Our second day there our granddaughter gashed her foot open on their pool slide stairs so we went to ask for a band aid and the child worker told me we don't give them away you need to buy some in the gift shop smh!!! in the end we left a day early we usually go to KOA which includes everything in your stay because they care about your time there so we will just be going back to KOA from now on so if your thinking about going here...
