We rented 4 cabins, both A and B sides to host our family for our redwood wedding "elopement". The cabins were incredible. They felt bigger than they looked and were very cozy and charming. Everything was clean on arrival and the check in process was easy. Each cabin was uniquely decorated and it was fun to just walk around and look at all the different paintings and knick knacks scattered around! The A units were 3 bedrooms with a kitchen while the B units were more like a studio. If renting both sides, a door can be opened to freely move between them and mingle. Came in very handy.
Because of the remoteness of the area, cellular service was nonexistent for most of us, but they do provide free wifi and they have landlines in each cabin as well. But also because of the remoteness, it was quiet and peaceful.
We booked the cabins about a year in advance and Bogart made the whole process so smooth and was incredibly flexible with us the week before our stay due to some unforeseen circumstances. He was so patient with our millions of questions and super helpful about the surrounding areas. They had no problems dealing with our large group as well. Holly and her cleaning staff were wonderful as well and helpful with questions day of. Super accommodating and friendly!
We also used a couple of the cabins as the getting ready suites before our ceremony. It was very easy to fit in 6 ladies as well as a MUA, hair stylist and photographer and not feel super cramped. For any future couples planning small and intimate ceremonies in the more northern parts of Redwoods National and State Parks, this place was a perfect spot to stay, get ready and regroup at later. They also host weddings as well! Just be sure to ask about this first and get management approval so you don't show up with unauthorized people on property!
I would suggest stocking up on food before arriving as the nearest market doesn't have a large selection and the closest "big name" grocers are about 30-40 minutes away.
While not always a guarantee, there's a reason they are called Elk Meadow Cabins and we had truly the most magical mornings watching the elk travel across the yards to eat and rest.
Overall we could not recommend Elk Meadow Cabins enough and will definitely be back!!

Read moreWe went there on Labor Day and stayed for 1 day. My wife, friends and their family really liked this place. The cabin was spacious and it has all the amenities, fully stocked kitchen with all required utensils, dish washer, dish TV, fire grill, Wifi. This cabins also have garage area but it is not big. You car can barely fit into this space. We had parked our car outside. All the cabins have the patio area where you can find fire grill. If you like grilling the bring your own food to grill. All the required equipments/utensil for grilling are available in kitchen. The grill is of adequate size. Don't forget the clean the grill afterwords otherwise they may charge you for that. The patio are is in backyard. The backyard also has camping tables, disk golf and basketball area. You can use this area for recreational activities with your family or friends. There is a single fire pit in front of the cabins. You can use this space to spend some quality time with your family.
Network: At this place you will not find any mobile network so your phone will be completely off the grid. They do provide wifi access and they will give you the wifi password in the email. The wifi access was really slow during the night. I guess, there is only one access point and all of them are accessing at the same time. The wifi access is better near the office, so try to get the cabin which is closer to the office if you really need the internet access all the time. They also provide work space area with power outlet near office.
How to find this place? This place is on highway 101 so it is not hard to find this place. They also provide shuttle service in case you need it to go nearby places.
Close to Nature: This place is surrounded by hills so you feel like you are in valley. You can easily spot Elk herd in morning and evening. They advice you to observe them from a distant because they are wild animal and can attack you in case they think they are threatened or challenged. It was foggy during morning and really good for a small hike. You can also get to see a different view of nature. During this time you will notice sun rays are coming between trees and fog which is completely...
Read moreWe had cabin 9A. Each building contains a large "A" cabin (really a 3 bed, 1 full bath house) and a connecting, smaller "B" cabin. Didn't see inside a "B" cabin. We had 3 large bedrooms each with a door: one with 2 twins, the other two with one queen. Each BR had a dresser and closet space. Large, full kitchen with all utensils, pots and pans, etc, large fridge/freezer, gas stove with (electric?) oven. Reasonably large living room with chairs and couch. Dining table by kitchen. Living room, kitchen, dining room open to one another. Front and back porches, back with three-burner Weber grill connected to gas supply (no propane bottle at the grill). Grill scraper hung from the BBQ. Picnic table off the rear porch. No AC, so we opened windows on the shady side to let the cooler outside air in during the afternoons - plenty of window fans provided for this purpose. Meadows weren't green like the picture - they were mostly brown (presumably to save water). We saw 1-3 male elk, still in velvet, behind the cabins 3 of the 5 days we were there. Firepit with benches across from the cabins was perfect for our family gatherings (wood provided). The front door locks automatically perhaps 20 seconds after being opened. | No big store nearby, but we knew that, so we went shopping at the Eureka Costco and a Safeway in Eureka (about 35 min) before we arrived. We also had to go to the ACV airport in McKinleyville (about 25 min) and we went to the Safeway there as well. | Overall, we were very impressed (as we had hoped to be...
