Halfway Lake Cottages — Hotel in McMillan Township

Halfway Lake Cottages exceeded our expectations in every way possible. My wife and I (and our kids) agree that this was the best family vacation we have ever taken. We were in Cottage #5, which was clean, comfortable, and felt like plenty of space for the six of of us. The views from the cottages overlooking the lake are phenomenal. Access to rowboats, kayaks, and canoes provided plenty for us to do.||As far as location, that was excellent as well. We were close enough to make a run to Newberry when we needed something, but still felt like a remote location while at the cottages. We were also able to make easy day trips to Tahquamenon Falls, Oswald’s Bear Ranch, Grand Marais, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Whitefish Point, and Muskellonge Lake State Park. Many other popular locations are within an hour drive as well. ||Chris and Julie were excellent hosts, and went well above and beyond. We neglected to pack fishing gear, and they graciously allowed us to borrow a couple of fishing poles. We ended up spending many hours fishing on the lake, catching lots of perch, and our youngest even caught a pike! We have stayed with Halfway Lakes for two years and decided it was time to bring the kids and show them all the amazing beauty. I was a little worried about the kids getting board and turning my relaxing vacation into just a regular week of being mom. I was wrong! They made BFF's, had so much fun with the owners kids and all the other families kids. They didn't discriminate on age and all just ran and played when we were not our enjoying all the UP has to offer. The location was so perfect for visiting all the attractions our kids enjoyed; Lake superior, trails, falls, museums, road side attractions.
