We stayed at Evin's Mill for an early Valentine's get away. Although, only a 45 min drive from home, we felt like we were nestled in the mountains of East Tennessee. It was so quiet and secluded, with the only sounds being those of the water flowing at the mill or the relaxing sound of the creek right outside of our cabin. Our cabin was very clean and cozy. We loved that there was no cable in the room. However, we were able to check out a DVD from the lodge.
The price includes your 3 meals. Dinner was a 4-5 course meal served in the lodge by the fireplaces. Complete with fresh flowers on the table and a very welcoming and friendly staff. Even offered coffee with dessert. They also had a bar if you wanted a drink. In the morning, breakfast was delicious. Cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit awaited us upon arrival and a hearty breakfast was cooked fresh. Great way to start the day. They also fixed us a sack lunch to take with us that was much more than I expected. Even had a little salad in it.
There was plenty of areas at the lodge to sit and rock while overlooking the creek. We hiked the North Trail which took us to the top overlook of the waterfall. The waterfall is huge. It was stunning and we had it all to ourselves that day. Also, the Mill building is filled with games. Everything from a pool table to ping pong to darts.
Overall, Evin's Mill is an absolute gem. We had the added bonus of a snowfall during our stay which made an already beautiful location seem even more magical and romantic. I can't say enough great things about this resort. We will absolutely be returning in warmer weather and would love to take a dip at the base of the waterfall during our next stay! If you want a relaxing couple's getaway, book it! You...
Read moreThis whole experience was smooth and flowed until I declined overnight accomodations. Angie and Dak provided great customer service from the moment I spoke to them and all of sudden decided to back out of my elopement the day I was going to put a deposit via William (owner) of the hotel. However, she was dishonest about not being forwarded the email by William , she was not cced on the reply for. She continued to say she was cced and she infact was not. 24 hrs later I get an email saying that her and Dak feel they are not a good fit with no explanation. They left us in the dark and backed out for no good reason, because the interactions were always smooth and respectful.
Last night I spoke to Angie about pricing on Evin Mills and she said she wasnt sure even though they constantly go to that property to do day elopements. She asked me to reconsider because she didnt want me to be disappointed which was her way of telling me she was backing out. I knew the next morning she would back out. I wish she wouldve been honest and upheld her integrity when speaking to her last night via a call so I didnt waste my time. From the intial conversation they were very accomodating, made themselves available for Nov 26 and all was fine.
I find this whole situation extremely unprofessional and you and the team felt short.
This experience started smoothly and ended up not meeting the mark. I dont appreciate the lack of respect and professionalism displayed in my situation. I booked accomodations , flights , a guitarist from your site, and Angie and Dak back out last minute…. This absolutely unacceptable.. Now I have to scramble to get someone else.
Thank you everyone for your participation in...
Read morePrivate resort (Historic residence, mill and farm of Joe L. Evins, Congressman) whose owners recently added a Daytripper option where you can purchase a pass for $25 per person (24 Hour advance RESERVATION required!) that allows access to the magnificent falls. Fairly short hike to the falls but the main waterfall is 90 ft. so obviously it is at times steep down to the falls and of course what goes down must come back up. Definitely wear hiking shoes or tennis shoes with good tread. Flip flops will not do no matter how advanced of a climber you are. The Daytripper pass includes a large sack lunch which was absolutely delicious. I'm accustomed to hiking to waterfalls at State Parks so purchasing a pass was new for me but I can guarantee that it is totally worth it, actually a great deal given the amount of recreation and basically no time limit. You have freedom to explore and enjoy this piece of paradise all day. The Falls are breathtaking, the swimming hole is perfect, not crowded on the Sunday we visited. The trail to access the Falls is lined with thick rope to assist climbing and wooden steps in place where a few steeper sections are located. We took our 9 year old daughter and had a blast - definitely recommend checking this out. Accessible for all ages. I recommend taking it slow and enjoying every part of it I am grateful to the owners for 0ffering the Daytripper pass to make this amazing property accessible to everyone. We will definitely be...
