The hotel is perched on a hillside above a regenerative farm. The entire atmosphere and decor exude a strong sense of belonging, reminiscent of a wealthy aunt's guest room in the countryside. Snacks are provided in your room upon check-in, and the front desk lady patiently guides you through the various areas. The lobby has a kitchen, sofa, and large TV. Sparkling water, fruit, and popcorn are also provided in the kitchen. It's like you can change into your pajamas anytime, lie down on the sofa, eat popcorn, and watch your favorite movie on Netflix. The hotel will send you a check-in code in advance, so even if you can't make it before 6:00 PM, you can still check in on your own, but checking in early is recommended. Several wineries are nearby, and complimentary wine testing is available. If you check in early and have more time, I highly recommend trying a few different wineries. No reservations are required; just walk in and tell them you're staying at Inn the Ground.
The hotel offers a free breakfast with organic eggs, sourdough bread, yogurt bowls, orange juice/green juice (probably kale, celery, and cucumber), and baked scones and pastries. You can choose.
For dinner, consider McMinnville, a small town 15 minutes away. There are many delicious restaurants there, and the atmosphere is lively and vibrant at night, with bands, crowds of holidaymakers, and street lights that look like Christmas.
The entire hotel environment is truly pristine. After dinner in the restaurant, we saw a very cute baby sika deer on the way back to the hotel. It was hopping around in the direction of the hotel.
Because it's far from the city and there are no lights, you can see the stars clearly. At night, you can also sit around the fire and chat with other hotel guests. There's a strange sense of belonging and familiarity, like a beautifully decorated country home you haven't...
Read moreThe Ground in the beautiful Willamette Valley is nothing short of magical. Frank and Brenda are incredible visionaries and devoted stewards of this stunning property, constantly evolving and expanding their sustainable farming practices that go straight from the land to your plate at their lovely restaurant, Humble Spirit.
We had the pleasure of touring the property with Grace, who gave us a glimpse inside their vision and the beautiful property they continue to grow bit by bit—from their lovely farm animals, their wellness facility, to the carefully crafted trails that wind through the 400-acre property. These trails lead you through dense forest to ancient oaks and tranquil water ponds that they worked hard to acquire to nourish the land.
We stayed at the Yamhill House, right next to their Source Farmstand and it was absolutely perfect. Falling asleep to the serenade of frogs and waking up to the peaceful view of hazelnut fields and vineyards felt like a dream.
The hospitality was unmatched, and the farm-to-table dining at Humble Spirit was simply unforgettable. From the warm, welcoming staff to the thoughtfully crafted dishes, every detail made us fall in love with this part of Oregon. To say we’ll be back soon is an understatement—we can’t wait to return and explore even more of this...
Read moreA serene and relaxing farm stay with gorgeous rooms and common areas. Walking into the entry, we felt an immediate sense of calm and beauty. Our eyes were drawn to the expansive wall of windows where magically, one by one, three young deer walked past while grazing on the living roof. In the distance, Mt. Hood. The inn’s staff was kind, helpful and delivered just the right amount of attentiveness. This is a place where you can rest, sip, read, and regroup. It is also a place where you can be active. My husband and I walked on forested and pastoral paths to view the animals, native vegetation, and to experience regenerative farming. You can see the care the farm uses to balance guest enjoyment while conserving the natural and scenic beauty of the site.Excellent wineries are a short drive from the inn. For dinner, we ate at an outstanding restaurant in nearby McMinnville called Humble Spirit. The following morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast from the inn’s kitchen with meat, eggs, fruit and veggies sourced right from the farm. It made us feel more connected to what we eat, being able to see first hand how animals and vegetables grown with love show up on a plate. We’ll definitely be back! (photo: Emilio, a delightfully...
