My boyfriend and I stayed at the cabin for five nights and so many things unfolded I am not sure if I would return. When we first checked into our lodge cabin 3 to be exact the air conditioner was not working and we had to Call maintenance to check out this issue. Considering it was 100 degrees memorial weekend in Georgia the lack of air conditioning was concerning. Within minutes of the maintenance Arriving they confirmed our suspicions and had to change the air filters and within a few hours our ac started to work. The next issue we ran into was that when I went to add another day because we wanted to stay one extra day longer the cabin was already booked this left us with literally checking out of the hotel and moving 3 cabins down just for one extra night. When I consulted with the staff about maybe working with us on this issue they basically said we have to move to another cabin and the other family wants this cottage so we will not move them to another empty cabin. When I asked for a late check out to make sure everything was transferred I was denied leaving us with only 30 extra minutes to check out and move three cabins down from the original cabin giving the booking issue. My last issue with this place was the insects according to maintenance cottage 3 always has issues with cooling and ac and these cabins were built in 1935. While the cabins were ok I personally witnessed spiders in cottage three crawling on the bed where we were laying down and cobwebs above the kitchen ceiling. No refund or credit was offered or given despite all of these issues I encountered and spending almost 500 bucks to stay here. I appreciate the rustic beauty and the cabin however when my safety and health are slowly being compromised that’s where I draw the line. If I ever returned here i would stay only in the renovated lodge that’s on the opposite end of the property and they were just upgraded in April 2019 and they offer a great military discount. I don’t expect perfection but I do expect to get a certain standard that’s consistent with my money. The next time I come to this park i hope it’s a better experience. I think the prices are too expensive for the quality of some of...

I had to stop here to get a day pass to go through the park cute little park until you get to one area of it there was no close gate there was no railing going across the road to tell you you could not go in that area and the area was to the beach and boat dock well I stopped to read the historic sign inside that area where the boat dock and Beach was and I had a gentleman walk up to me and tell me the areas closed and I said there's nothing to say that he says there's signs I said the signs are over in the grass they're not blocking the road The gate was wide open and you can see by the pictures that I have included that indeed the area closed signs were over off the road in the grassy area and that the main gate down that road was wide open The employees there are just plain rude I have never ran into a state park that 95% of them are rude and I didn't understand that there was no need for it All I was doing was driving through taking a look and stop dorita historic sign about wide beach was named after who it was and it was quite interesting to learn the historic part of it it dealt with the first the gentleman that created the first bottling plants for Coca-Cola in that area so that's kind of historic and my opinion It should require a moment of reading and if you don't want somebody down there put today on gate up or put the road closed sign out there that...

A group of our church campers visited here the weekend before Halloween for fellowship and a "pastor led" Sunday school lesson on the 'genealogy of Israel'.

The campground was full and several of the cabins were in use, not to mention the occupancy of the lodge. There were special seasonal programs for the children, supported by "friends of LOSP", not to mention the individual decorating done by camper at the sites. And I've never in all my 40 years of camping seen so many children in a campground. That's refreshing and encouraging! There were some TVs turned outward as Saturday was a Big college football weekend.

It's been many years since we've visited this park, but memories were refreshed the more we moved about. The lake has a long history of invasive vegetation, and that battle still continues but is fishable and is apparently stocked regularly with largemouth bass. I fished briefly one afternoon from the shoreline near the cabins. I had several strikes and hooked a bass, but it was consumed by the heavy vegetation and never reached shore. The history of this park is part of the drawing card as well as the lodge, lake and golf course. Reservations are made directly through the park, not through Reserve America. That may have something to do with the lodge management. So it's a good park to try. It's near to McRae, GA but most attractions are...
