Rest Stop 6 Inn — Hotel in Mead Township

My family and I are on a two week trip around the east and stopped at this Rest Stop 6 Inn, and we were not disappointed! J.R., the owner, was nothing short of amazing. First, I can tell he never meets a stranger. He makes you feel like family from the moment you hit the door. Before we even made it to our room, he had dinner figured out for us. Which was a godsend because we were all tired.

Next, we got to stay in the family suite, which we and the kids loved. There is plenty of space and it felt so homey! J.R. was ready with whatever we may have needed. I dont think I have ever met such a customer service oriented person. He truly was amazing.

Then, and to me, this is my favorite part, J.R. came and got us for the pizza he made us. Served us at the bar. We were the only ones around, and he played a game of chess with both of my younger boys while we all ate. Then, at one point, my daughter was on the floor singing her show tunes, my husband and one child were playing pool, and my other child was playing chess against J.R. It truly was like going to see a family/friend and hanging out for the evening.

Then we all went back to our suite and curled up and slept on some of the softest sheets.

This is not like your standard hotel, and honestly, I do believe of all the places we have stayed on this trip, this is the one we will still be talking about when we get back home.

If I could rate this "gentleman" worse one star I would. Very friendly when confirming the arrangement. However, when my fiance and I traveled through a nearby town we discovered the power was out in the area and it prevented us from getting the remainder of the supplies we needed for our trip we would have to cancel. We had only booked the room that very afternoon, so it had only been a few hours when we called and explained the situation. He told us he has to charge us for the night but would cancel the rest. We attempted to contact booking about the $60 and are still working with them. My fiance called him today because the change for the entire $199 has now actually posted to her bank account and was no longer in pending status. When she called to talk to the owner about it, he immediately got rude with her and tried to speak over her repeatedly (careful trying to get a word in ladies, you're dealing with a real gentleman here) and when my fiance asked if she needed to get a lawyer involved, he said, verbatim, "Call your lawyer you fu**g bch" (couldn't post the actual profanity on this site) and hung up the phone. He has blocked her phone number and after She left a review about it on his Facebook page and he deleted it AND blocked her from the page . As someone who has been in sales and customer service for fifteen years I am appalled at how my fiance was addressed and now isn't answering calls from my number either. Jr the drunken owner who him and his wife both drive 60,000.00 Brand new SUVs,the whole parking lot is craters and overgrown brush,I talked to other people there,they were staying there and he was charging them 1,300.00 a week for a room,WOW that's more than a rental in Laguna Beach, California,my dumpy room was about 100 years old with no updates,the so called bed when I sat on it sunk to the floor had bed bugs galore and stained sheets,the other bed when I tried it,it fell apart,the TV was all paid ads,the furniture was also 100 years old,the carpet was stained and also 100 years old,the walls were stained of spaghetti sauce,the bathroom fixtures were 200 years old and the tub fixtures and bath tub,they barely turned on and off and when I layed down in the bathtub and put my feet on the wall,the wall pushed thru,it was all rotted wood,the bathroom floor had rusty screws in it from some kind of repair and 100 year old carpeting glued down,the bathroom sink water was off and when I was in the other room it came up the drain sink and a tiny mouse floated out,I wonder how the 2 hard workers Jr and his wife can afford 120,000 in Brand new SUVs but can not have there motel updated can u say slumlords and for my wonderful room he charged me 1,000.00 for 2 weeks,PLEASE DRIVE PAST THIS DUMP,u can thank me later for saving u...
