Went during their offseason a couple weeks ago for what was supposed to be a 2 night stay. Saw on their website they had a general store, fuel for sale, friendly staff, and good reviews! So we were very excited! We have very limited time off because we work in the hospitality industry as well, running a motel 24 hours a day 5-6 days a week. Because of that I called the day I made the reservation to confirm it went through, and to confirm my ETA with them. We did not fuel up our UTV because their website said they sold fuel, and we had enough in our tow vehicle to make it with no stops. We arrived precisely when I told them we would be there, and nobody was there.

Campground was quite dark, nobody there to show us where to go despite me saying this is our first time there, or at wolfpen gap at all. One of the owners told me on the phone the cabin would be unlocked, with keys and all the extras we purchased waiting for us. After stumbling around in the dark for a while, we found the cabin! Jimmys hideaway, “closest to the bathrooms” (which I got specifically for my wife, her medical conditions cause her to go a lot). Come to find out the bathrooms were being torn down, so there was actually a further walk than advertised.

We get into our room and the cabin itself wasn’t the worst. Needs structural work though, the floor is extremely soft, and there’s a soft spot right next to the bed that felt like I was going through the floor entirely. Not too bad though, except none of our purchased stuff or even a key is in the room? We wanted to go riding, but definitely weren’t leaving our dogs and items unlocked in a new area. One of the owners (Alex) comes down from his house, and has me come to the office to get my own keys, map, and load my own firewood because they failed to do any of that prior to me checking in. Not great service so far, but hey, we are just glad to be there.

We went out on a night ride with some people from the park (friends of the owners) and with Alex the owner. Wasn’t too bad minus some heavy drinking from a few, which I personally find stupid to drink and ride. We get back, have dinner; and go to bed planning on a full day tomorrow because of rain coming late the next day. We get up at 7, get ready, and start getting our SxS ready. I noticed I needed fuel to last all day, so I went to the office at 8am. Nobody there. Called the number, no answer. Called and text both owners (they have their cells posted) no answers. Tried calling and texting multiple times between 7-10am with 0 response, they even started sending me to voicemail! 🤬

With our trip already 3 plus hours behind, I started going to other campers figuring out if there’s a trick or how do you get help around there. The friend of the owners (who was honestly the best person there, and ran the place more than the owners actually did) said he would try to contact them. Somehow, even though they wouldn’t answer a guests calls or texts, the other owner answers this guy almost immediately?!

The owner tells him to let us fuel up, and he will come by later for the money. No apology from the owner, didn’t even offer free fuel or a discount for taking up now 4-5 hours total of our ride time. We went out, had a GREAT time away from the camp (trails are state park, you DO NOT have to stay here to use them, trails are actually free!) except the owners failed to mention that almost all the trails leading to the mines, waterfalls, and all the spots you would want to go are closed this time of year. Yet another piece of info conveniently left out, despite me saying multiple times on the phone and our online reservation we have never ever been there before. Showers in the other bath house were cold and nasty, literally nothing advertised was delivered. If this is how the owners themselves run it, we will NEVER be back and will NEVER recommend it. 2 weeks later and still no apology at all. Come to find out “they got too sauced”. I am on the clock 24 hours a day almost every day of the week, I have to wake up at all hours, and that’s...

Wolfpen ATV Campground & Cabins Inc. IS THE PLACE TO STAY! Imagine waking up on a beautiful morning, the fresh smell of four stroke in the air mixed with nature and a little bit of coffee… You just got out of bed and you’re ready for the day. Maybe you’re more of the comfort type and you booked a cottage or maybe you’re a minimalist and booked an A-frame cabin. (Regardless of WHO YOU ARE, they can accommodate you!) You hear the faint sound of birds chirping in the distance, maybe some insects, but no doubt you’ll hear the sounds of ATV’s and guests gearing up for a perfect day of riding. (Really though, rain or shine, come packed with the right gear and you will still have a blast!) You gear up, hop onto your atv and you go ride the Wolfpen Trails… or maybe you’re up for a bit more adventure and you make your way to Fourche Mountain. You ride all day long… you see amazing views and ride on different trails of different experience levels, and you decide its time for dinner. You head back to the campground and get dinner prepared. Maybe you’re a steak and tater’s kind of guy, or maybe it’s time for a burger. By this point you’ve made some friends (we always do) and now its time to crack open a cold drink and sit by a warm fire! The kids will play with the other kids and the adults will enjoy the fire, drinks, food, and good company! Life is good! Seriously though, this place is our go to! We won’t stay anywhere else. My husband and I got engaged at this campground and have made lifelong friends with people that we have met there. The owners are amazing people and are filled with any information you may need on where to ride, what to see, and what to do! The campground is always clean and stocked with essentials and is a kid-friendly environment as well. There are two things I look for when I go on a vacation: Views and vibes and this place checks the box for...

My family of four stayed in A-frame cabins at the start and end of a two-week vacation. We rented an A-frame cabin with kitchenette for a few days and an A-frame w/o kitchenette. Overall, the cabins are clean and comparable to other ATV camps we have enjoyed: mattress quality is hit or miss and AC blows cold. It's clean and out of the elements. There is an outhouse (flush toilet w/sink) close to #8, and the new shower house is clean and just a short walk or ride. We all enjoyed the low-water crossing to get in/out of the campground. My youngest enjoyed the playground...that teeter-totter isn't long for this world. Hopefully, we will make it back to Mena, and we will definitely be staying here again when we do. The trails are not owned by the campground, so trail conditions, signage, and access are not their responsibility. The Maprkia map was super helpful. The National Forest service sells topo maps if you want detailed info. We rode 2 and 4 stroke dirt bikes to/from the campground and on the trails, and it was a lovely ride. Trails #6 and #8 are really quite fun with lots of kickers for those who enjoy jumping. I don't get off the ground (yet?) and I enjoyed the trails. Be sure to stop by the swimming holes and country stores for a treat. Just check the hours of operation. Cell service and Starlink also aren't controlled by the campground. It's iffy until you get to the top of a hill or back to Mena. Download your Maprika map before leaving Mena, and enjoy being on "do not disturb" most of the time.
