This was kind of a mixed bag experience. When we first arrived the place looked nice, the room was functional and clean, the AC was running (important lately) and everything was in working order. The only thing we noticed right away was the floor was very gritty ... like sandy ... which makes sense being a beach area, but it would be nice if there was a broom or something in the room so we could take care of that. The ohter thing to take note of is that the rooms are "cozy" ... the pictures give the suggestion of more room than you get. Don't get me wrong the room was functional but if you're the type to normally not put things away on a short stay, you'll get claustrophobic.
The first night wasnt the best ... I'm a built big kind of guy and the bed offered no support for me at all. It honestly felt like sleeping on a semi-inflated air mattress. But if you like a very soft bed it would be perfect for you ... again this is a personal preference thing combined with my size so YMMV.
Also the first night, there was a multi-hour power outage due to a severe thunderstorm which knocked out the AC ... this is 100% not in the inn's control at all and I don't fault them in the slightest. I'm just mentioning it because the room heated up very quickly waiting for the power to come back and without the AC running everything in the neighboring rooms was pretty audible.
Otherwise most of the rest of the stay was fine ... the location is great for visiting Indiana Dunes National Park, there isnt much in the way of food nearby but there are options a relatively short drive away which was nice.
The one issue we did have which came up on our last night was that the bathroom and the room itself got overrun with what I believe are springtail beetles (small harmless beetles that are attracted to water and moist areas). They came out from under the walls in the bathroom and covered a towel that was on the floor from after showering ... they then spread throughout the room including a few that made it to the bed. Yes springtails are harmless, but finding something crawling on you kinda sucks. We "cornered" them into the bathroom by leaving the light on overnight ... there were hundreds by morning. We didn't run into this until after midnight on our last night, so thats good at least. I did mention this while checking out ... I have pictures and video of it as well. I didn't ask for or expect a credit for this since we spent the night and didn't call the after hours number ... but I do hope that management takes this seriously and doesn't just spray some raid/home defense and hope they don't come back ... there is something in the walls feeding those things.
Overall, it wasn't really the hotel for us in the long run ... I just need a little more space and a more supportive bed. There is alot to like about the inn ... the staff is great, the location is perfect, in cooler weather the fire pit at night would have been nice, etc ... so its worth a look if you need something in the...
Read moreHad a wonderful stay, just me and my dog! I booked this very last minute and thought I wouldn’t be able to book anywhere, but the gentleman at 4411 somehow was able to get me a room after being told one of the nights I needed was booked solid. 2 hours later he was able to get me in for the full nights I needed. Thank you sooooo much for getting me in!! The room was wonderful, very clean and completely updated with a nice large bathroom and a deep tub for soaking after hiking thru many sand dunes. For me it was a perfect location with many restaurants and breweries (with food as well) for both you and your canine companion. I chose Bentwood Tavern this time in New Buffalo. Awesome food!!!! And you and your pooch can sit out on the patio overlooking the Marina. Next time I’ll be trying out other pet friendly restaurants. And of course Warren Dunes was just up the road with the pet friendly beach. Easy access to the beach if you want your beach chairs, beach canopy for shade, blankets, and cooler loaded with your favorite food and non-alcoholic drinks. I watched lots of friends and family get togethers, with their doggie family members just hanging out on the beach having a great time. I will be going back and staying at 4411 inn and suites and rebooking the suite again. It was nice having the extra room with a comfortable couch, chairs, and patio doors for my pooch to look out of with the woods in the back. The only suggestion? Some bird feeders. It would be nice to see how many different species of birds I can identify in that wooded area. Especially with those beach chairs and table the hotel has if you choose to sit outside your...
Read moreI normally would never leave a bad review but the stay we had was so exceptionally bad that I feel it needs to be said. We had the misfortune of staying at this facility while visiting some friends that were attending a local dogshow. When looking for accomendations the room price was quoted to be $133/night. We kept looking at other locations to stay and came back to back the reservation, we again were quoted $133/night. We checked in (again confirmed it was $133 for the night) and spent the night. The room was cute, clean-ish and incredibly small. The bathroom was super small and cramped and obviously designed by a very skinny person, the beds were highly uncomfortable (saggy in the middle) and the room had a strange chemical smell. On checkout, we were charged almost $200 for the stay. They charged us for a “pet friendly” room even tho we had no pets with us. They charged us for using a credit card, even tho that was the only payment option they accepted, they charged a deposit for the room, which was not part of the room fee and they charged us for a “studio”. When we checked out we were informed of all these “up charges”, even tho when on check in we asked about taxes and any additional room fees. The front desk was rather rude and unhelpful and tho we asked for contact info for a manager, we were told that the “manager will get ahold of us at some point”
Worst hotel stay we’ve ever had (and I travel often for...
