Updated response Finally, sadly actually stayed here two nights with a group of friends. Horrible experience! Intentionally reserved a "not pet friendly" site so I wouldn't have to directly be near people with their dogs. Didn't matter! Site right next to me still had their dog and nothing was done about it. He even was letting his dog urinate at the tree by my tent. Plus, people who were walking their dogs were allowing their animals to come all the way up to my tent and in my space. I'll never understand why pet owners think it's ok to allow their animals to enter another person's yard and space, but that's another discussion! The bathrooms and shower facilities were ABSOLUTELY FILTHY!! I MEAN OUTRIGHT DISGUSTING! BOTH BY THE CAMPSITES AND BY THE POOL. GRIME ALL UP THE WALLS, TRASH EVERYWHERE! LIKE THEY NEVER DEEP CLEAN THEM! I go to several State campgrounds in Michigan and other states throughout the year and NEVER see them like this place! Lastly, the Campers here don't know camping etiquette! People were constantly walking right through my campsite! At one point a group of ten people coming from the beach just walked around my tent, circled my picnic table to get to their site 4 spots away. Separate instance: A guy was walking towards me through my site, right up to the back of my vehicle while I was standing there, (I thought he was coming to introduce himself as he was literally less than 5 feet from my face) I said, "hello, may I help you?" He said, "no just cutting through." And when I told him, "you're not supposed to do that", he looked at me like I was in the wrong for saying something! Ridiculous!! I never saw posted anywhere a quiet time either, so Campers were playing music, singing, kids playing everywhere past midnight. WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AND IF A FRIEND HADN'T PAID, I'D BE DEMANDING A REFUND! Original review ##Price did was explained##Why would you pay twice as much in a tent than someone in a RV? You're using less EVERYTHING! Less electricity, less of a footprint, less waste... Makes absolutely NO SENSE they charge tent campers $60/night in season and RVers $32. Where do people come up with the nonsense? The amenities don't explain that...
Read moreThe reviews here show how there are two different worlds at Camp Dearborn. If you have an RV, it's not bad. If you're a camper and wanting to camp at Camp Dearborn, you're gonna have a bad time.
As others have said, the campsites are so small. I am a solo camper, so that's not the biggest of deals to me, but wanted to call it out for others. However it actually was hard figuring out where my spot was because my camp neighbors were taking up part of my site and i just assumed that was actually theirs.
I checked in Friday and apparently they were having some sort of concert? I saw on the site there's a weekly talent show (they don't say when that is) and nightly dancing from 8-10 pm. There was nothing in the calendar about this event. I'm still not sure if the dancing/talent show is what this concert was because there's a single sentence on their site about those things. But the concert ran well past 10. It ended closer to 11:30 pm and keep in mind, the park's quiet hours start at 11 pm. In short, Camp Dearborn was breaking their own rules about not being loud
I was hoping for a peaceful weekend in nature and getting to rest a lot and instead was thrown into the middle of a concert and had no way to tune them out because it was so loud.
Speaking of loudness, they have their workers driving around on golf carts all night long. I don't know what they could be attending to at midnight, but there sure did like driving around.
And finally let's talk about the bathrooms. I've attached some pictures so you can see for yourself. The showers and sinks were caked in this mysterious brown matter. There were 3 separate sections of sinks and yet there was 1 single soap dispenser for all like 15 sinks to use. Just one soap dispenser. There's clearly spots where there used to be dispensers but they took them down for some unknown reason. It's truly disgusting.
So in short, if you have an RV and like drunken scream-singing concerts, this place is great. Anyone else, find somewhere else to go because this...
Read more⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 out of 5 stars)|Disappointed and Frustrated by Poor Customer Service||I recently stayed at Camp Dearborn and was incredibly disappointed with how I was treated, both at the entrance gate and when trying to resolve a clear mistake. If I could give this review zero stars, I would—but one star will have to do.||When I arrived on Sunday around 1:30 PM, I was the second car for our reserved campsite—right behind my husband, who was towing the camper. Despite this, the gate attendant charged me $35 for entry, even after I explained I was with the paid reservation and the second vehicle allowed on our site. When I reached the second gate at station 35, they simply handed me the second hanging tag without issue, which further confirmed that my vehicle should not have been charged.||Fast forward to July 9, 2025, I returned to the gate to kindly ask for a refund. The gentleman at the booth admitted he was new and said refunds weren’t possible. I politely let him know that refunds are, in fact, possible—and if he wasn’t sure, to please call a manager.||Unfortunately, when the manager arrived, things escalated—not because of me, but because of her behavior. She was rude, dismissive, and outright hostile. She told me I should’ve requested the refund on the first day and screamed that “no refunds are available.” Even when I calmly asked to speak to her manager, she refused, saying he would back her up, and ended the conversation by yelling, “Ma’am, you’ve been told no!” before walking away.||This level of customer service is completely unacceptable, especially when the issue was caused by their staff’s mistake. The aggressive tone and lack of professionalism left a terrible impression. Camp Dearborn may offer nice grounds, but the way they treat paying guests is enough to make me never return—and to caution others who expect basic courtesy and...
