We did NOT book through any online site, we just needed a single bed room. Charged $118 with tax & AAA membership-no discount. Room had a chair that was worn to the point of having holes in the arms, the TV remote would not work all the time.||||There was enough towels, pillows, toilet paper and Kleenex. Bed was ok, but sheets didn't seem to fit well enough. Parking was confusing and no door was located near our room where we parked, by the patio. Outside & inside common areas were clean.||||Our problems happened in the breakfast area at 8 am. A family with 3 small children were sitting at a table, not eating, no dishes, but the children were walking on the coffee tables, the couch, running all over. Front desk worker was chatting with these guests as this was happening.||||We proceeded to get our breakfast, we were being assaulted with curdling screams from one of the children. After sitting down and starting to eat the screams continued. After the loudest scream I've ever heard, my friend had to say something to the parents to do something. He didn't swear, he was loud. The front desk staff asked my friend to leave!||||Other guests were disrupted by this family also, we were not the only ones quietly trying to have breakfast. This family followed my friend and cursed at him as he entered our room, which was heard in the dining room where I was still eating.||||First, we paid over $100 and were not allowed to eat in quiet. It's high time hotels take a stand for everyone, and remove the disrupters, not those who have been assaulted. This family was NOT eating, their children were walking on the furniture & tables. So much for clean. Are they wanting a lawsuit by irresponsible parents? The front desk should have asked them to leave as the children could not be controlled, and several guests should NOT have to listen to ear-piercing screams!||||Retrain your staff to make sure there is control, not chaos. How about parents be told to control their children for the safety and enjoyment of ALL guests? This dining room only has a few tables so several guests were being hearing assaulted by this family. My friend saw me clamp my hands to my ears and had enough. It never should have been ALLOWED to go that long!||||I will be contacting Choice Hotels Corporate about this dangerous behavior allowed to go on in their...
Read moreWOULD NOT RECOMMEND this hotel unless you’re desperate for somewhere to stay. We had only been checked in for a hour and a half before the nightmare begun and resulted in leaving even though we had driven 4 hours to visit family.. When we reserved our room we were aware they had a pool and hot tub but was not told or not mentioned on website that one of the facilities was unusable. Moving forward, one of us got into the shower which there was just a shower no bathtub. Water began to fill the entire bathroom instantly becoming a risk to fall and started to come out onto the carpet leaving it soaking wet. We became dissatisfied and decided to talk to the manager about the concerns with the bathroom and was told there was no point of coming to take a look at it and that’s how handicapped accessible rooms are.. We politely asked if we could get a different room and was told by the manager she could not do that I guess she ended up changing her mind she did give us a downgrade from what we paid for. Bless her heart. We decided to check out the room before moving our belongings and it ended up being even worse. Both beds had black stains on every piece of the bedding the pillowcases, sheets, and comforter. There was dust everywhere and the carpet was stained and dirty. I’ll never forget the stench throughout the hotel. I have never dealt with the disrespect and unprofessionalism we endured like we did tonight it was horrible!!! The manager was accusing us of things we never did and she was caught in many lies. We got most of our reimbursement back but the manager charged us a $45 fee for a room upgrade we never stayed in??? But she put on the receipt we were paid in full. Save your time and money and go somewhere to a place that actually cares about their...
Read moreWe stayed at Rodeway Inn & Suites Milford – Okoboji Lake on Saturday September 9, 2023. At check-in our original room, #104. We entered the room and it strongly smelled of cigarette smoke. We went back to the front desk and asked to switch to another room. We were given room #103 and this room did not smell much better and we kept it anyway because we had a wedding to attend.
Everything was okay until midnight when three people tried to enter our room using access keys that worked to our room. Luckily, the door security latch was used to keep the people from entering the room. Yelling began with the individuals trying to get in the room. They apologized and went back to the front desk. This could have escalated into something worse since my spouse is a retired police officer. We then found the deadbolt was not working to lock the door shut either.
Several minutes later, the front desk called the room and wanted to know how we were in room 103. We told her what happened at check-in when our room was changed from 104 to 103. The front desk person said it was not changed in the system which caused the error with giving this room to the other individuals.
At check-out we told the front desk person what happened and all she offered was an apology and we could write the owner. Nothing else was offered except...
