This review is based on a short stay rather than a destination campground (CG) experience. We found this CG while looking for options near Sikeston, MO, and decided to try it based on positive online reviews. Booking was easy with a same-day reservation, and we received an email with directions, the WiFi password, and instructions to pick any site between 8 and 13, designated for big rigs and short-term stays, as most of the other sites were occupied by longer-term residents. We chose pull-through site #11 with full hookups (FHU) due to its convenient angle. All of the sites, including the shorter back-ins, offer FHU. Our site accommodated our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck comfortably, with centrally located utilities and 40 psi water pressure. The WiFi was sufficient for checking emails and general browsing, while cell service was limited to 1 bar on Verizon and 3 bars on T-Mobile. With few trees, satellite reception wouldn’t be an issue. During our stay, we were the only short-term guests. Some sites had picnic tables and fire pits, and while ours did not, we could have moved them if desired. The CG has a nice shower house and laundry facility, but the real draw is the country store, which operates more like a restaurant. The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was good. The sites are pretty much gravel and dirt. At $40 per night, the price felt a bit high for the amenities offered. We were there during dusty conditions, and friends came through a week later in the rain, and the CG was muddy. Along with the country store with a restaurant, there’s a dump station, plus they sell ice and propane. Being located along a frontage road off I-57, road noise was noticeable. The country store serves as both a traditional country store and a restaurant, featuring a deli and daily specials. We enjoyed their Friday farm-raised catfish dinner—the fish and especially the hushpuppies were excellent. Based on staff recommendations, we took home a pound of spicy pineapple ham along with homemade chocolate gravy and biscuits; both were unique and very good. Someday, we hope to try their Thursday burger special. Overall, we had a pleasant overnight stay and appreciated their hospitality.

The Magnolia RV Park and Store. 573-475-8991||We stayed here for 4 nights. Thursday, July 25th to July 28th, 2024. We were attending the grandson's Babe Ruth All Star baseball games in Sikeston, Mo. This is a pretty decent campground. I believe the actual town is called Bertrand, Mo. I had called to add an extra night, because the boys were playing on Friday, and we wanted to be there. The baseball schedule I had, showed us playing at 7 pm, on Friday, but instead, they were playing 2 games on Friday, starting at noon. They were okay with me calling to add another night. |They have an Awesome Catfish dinner on Friday's, only, from 11 am to 7 pm, or until they run out of Catfish. They also have some Breakfast, and Ice, available to campers during the weekdays. They are closed on the weekends, but are available by phone if needed. |I think there is like 22 spaces, and all have full hookups. There is only one shower/bathroom, Unisex. I found the best time to shower was in the mornings, when it's cooler. There is no AC in the bathhouse. Also, the hot water is an on Demand System, and I found it hard to adjust. Most campers were full size campers, and already had their own facilities. We were in our Popup(PuP). We had AC, but no...

A perfect roadside campground- very convenient to I-57 and I-55, pullthoughs with full hookups, propane and fresh cooked food at the country store. The campground is small, only about 20 sites, but is not crowded. Most of the sites are pullthroughs, plenty long enough for my 35ft Class A and car in tow. They have 30 and 50amp. Utilities are midway along the pullthough, so no need for extra long hoses or extension cord. Each site has a patch of grass and picnic table. The campground backs up to agricultural fields, so it's a nice pastoral view. There's a normal amount of road noise to be expected with a park that's convenient to the interstate. I arrived on a Friday, and the lunch special at the country store kitchen was fried catfish plate with coleslaw, beans, fries, and hushpuppies. The catfish was delicious! It was such a nice treat after a very windy 3 hr drive in my motorhome to have fresh, good food right there. The country store also has fresh bakery things like cobbler, homemade jams, soft serve ice cream, plus all the candy and stuff you'd find at a convenience store. I would definitely stay here when passing through...
