Whole lot going for this Park. Lots of shade, sites are level (ours was), FHU without issue, small camp store and plenty of area to walk your best friend. Now, here is where the one star comes from - bathroom/shower (mens) four toilets but only three serviceable, four sinks, no urinals, four showers but only two serviceable. This is a shower room that if you are modest, you probably want to avoid. Showers have a single curtain - no dressing area. They are positioned right at the bathroom door so anyone coming in or out are going to walk right past you in all your naked glory. Plus, anyone standing outside may get a cheap thrill as well. Forgot to add, you have to deposit quarters if you want to use the shower.Lets move on to the laundry room - by appearances there are probably eight or more washers and dryers. I say by appearance because there are only two serviceable washers and they dont clean your clothes. We had to use them twice to get anything close to clean. Further, they are small and I mean smaller than a normal home washer. Went to the office and asked why there were no out of order on the washers and she smiled and said she was making them as we speak - but the washers had been out of service for quite some time. Kicker is they dont expect parts until maybe the end of Sept. We have been on the road for three months and plan many of our laundry days to sync with stops where we would be multiple days - case in point Rough Rider.

We came here for work. Was supposed to be here for about 3 months. Things changed and our job took us away after 1 week. In that week we discovered that the back area where they put their "long timers" and "workers" was infested with mosquitoes and geese. Most people I have seen with pets pick up after them but the geese poop everywhere. All along the back area there is tall brush with fuzzy things that float in the air and stick to everything plus thorn bushes. When we called the make the reservation we told them we had kayaks and would be fishing in the pond and river. They made it out to sound like a lot of people fish here. There is no safe way to access the river through the steep banks and thick brush. The lake/pond is very low due to lack of rain and is a mosquito breeding ground. The back area has large rocks that can pop out from under tires and break windows...I know first hand as I watched it happen to my buddy's truck. The front of the park is nice and well kept, but if you plan on staying very long and they put you in the back...good luck. One other thing is the shower/restroom area...there is no private area to take a shower. There are 4 or 5 toilet stalls and 4 showers but one is out of order. The showers are separated by a curtain to the rest of the shower house and restrooms. Also take your money with you if you want to take a shower... $1 for 5 mins and .25 per minute after that.

Our primary goal in traveling to Minot was to spend time with a family member stationed at the air force base. We also took care of some maintenance items in town. The campground served the purpose of being a reasonable distance and having full hookups. Online, we reserved site 52. Yes, the website states that Roughrider RV Resort has the right to assign a different site and upon arrival we were told our site was now 44. That site had no trees for shade so when we returned to the office to ask about other options, we were allowed to move to 48. By the way, 52 was used for parking a car & motorcycle for an extended stay camper. 48 had trash in the fire pit and a filled dog poop bag under the table. Staff members were seen driving around but we never witnessed anyone checking and\or cleaning sites. The laundry facility had 1/3 of the washers & dryers out of service. The dog area at the front of the campground was a large field full of holes with an open fence to the highway and neighboring home. We never saw anyone utilizing the other amenities at the front of the resort but they appeared to be maintained. Frequent passing trains could clearly be heard night & day. A couple of extended stay sites were unreasonably unkept. We did have nice neighbors so campsites being as close as they were ended up not being an issue. If we were to return to the Minot area, we would search for other campground options.
