An Adventurer’s Oasis: Exploring Moab’s Base Camp in Early November Nestled amidst the rugged beauty of Moab, Utah, Base Camp offers an unparalleled gateway to the wonders of the desert landscape. During my visit in early November, this outdoor haven proved to be the ultimate playground for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts alike. One of the highlights of my stay at Base Camp was the spectacular disc golf course. Set against a backdrop of towering red rock formations and sweeping desert vistas, the course provided a challenging yet rewarding experience for players of all skill levels. With each throw, I found myself immersed in the stunning natural surroundings, navigating the course’s twists and turns while soaking in the beauty of Moab’s iconic landscape. Beyond the disc golf course, Base Camp also served as the perfect launching point for exploring nearby attractions such as Tortoise Kane Creek and Hurrah Pass. These natural wonders offered a glimpse into the raw beauty of the Utah desert, with rugged canyons, winding trails, and panoramic overlooks waiting to be discovered. Whether hiking, mountain biking, or simply taking in the awe-inspiring scenery, each adventure left me with a newfound appreciation for Moab’s diverse terrain. Back at Base Camp, the amenities and accommodations exceeded my expectations. The campground provided spacious sites with stunning views, allowing for a true immersion in nature without sacrificing comfort. The communal areas, including fire pits and picnic areas, fostered a sense of camaraderie among fellow travelers, making for unforgettable evenings under the desert stars. Moreover, the staff at Base Camp were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure that every aspect of my stay was nothing short of exceptional. Whether offering insider tips on local trails or helping to arrange guided excursions, their passion for Moab and dedication to guest satisfaction truly set Base Camp apart as a premier destination in the area. In conclusion, my experience at Base Camp in Moab, Utah, during early November was nothing short of extraordinary. From the exhilarating disc golf course to the awe-inspiring landscapes of Tortoise Kane Creek and Hurrah Pass, every moment was filled with adventure and wonder. For anyone seeking an unforgettable outdoor escape in the heart of the desert, Base Camp is the ultimate destination. I can’t wait to return and continue exploring all that this incredible oasis has to offer.

A Hidden Gem in Moab – The Perfect Mix of Adventure and Relaxation! We stayed at Base Camp Adventure Lodge a few years ago and still talk about what an incredible experience it was. The owner was so friendly and welcoming, and one of the highlights was getting to meet the resident tortoise! Evenings were pure magic—watching wildlife from the porch, grilling dinner, and feeding hot dogs to curious critters. We even got to pet a baby skunk (yes, really!). The lodge strikes a perfect balance between cozy comfort and outdoor adventure. We loved having our own private entrance to the room, so we could come and go without disturbing anyone. The room itself was adorable and thoughtfully designed, with a fold-down table where we shared dinner after long, exciting days. During our stay, we rented a side-by-side and explored some unforgettable local sights. We also had the chance to go kayaking, which was a highlight of the trip. If you’re looking for a stay that combines adventure, wildlife, and a laid-back vibe, this is the place. Can’t wait to go back someday! We drove a Honda Pilot and it made it with issues. Patience and careful handling are key.

Stayed there Thanksgiving week. It was everything I was wanting plus some. The place is off grid but still had electricity and nice hot water for a shower. Rooms were nice, had a little propane heater that kept them very warm. You have to bring your own food but you can use the kitchen and grill to cook. The views are second to none, everywhere you look is amazing. The stars at night really came out, no light pollution. Lots of hiking starting right at the Lodge. Mountain biking and off roading opportunities too. You can just sit back, relax and take it all in too. The road getting there can a challenge, be sure to allow enough time to make it out there before dark. It took 2 hours to get to town from the Lodge. I was in a Subaru Outback, it did it no problem but I did have to get out and stack rocks to get over some ledges. Everyone there was nice and very helpful. They were also concerned about your safety. They made sure you had a walkie-talkie before you headed out. Will be back.

Only our second time, and yet it feels like we have been going there for years….it is a place that becomes like home. And Tom and Theresa feel like old, old friends…folks you have known for years, with all of their quirks and their amazing personalities and their energy. The place itself is magical: drive your car down a road that sheds Moab like old fur at springtime and by the time you have navigated the 17 mile sort-of-road to and down Hurrah Pass, you know you are going to a special place. You park your car, unpack your food and your stuff, and just spend however many days you have lucked out in booking just leaving your room, setting out in any direction, and walking into terrain that is found nowhere else except in the Southeastern section of Red Rock Utah. You don’t look at your car again, or think about it, until you have to leave. You can just sit on a porch or patio and lose yourself in contemplation of the River flowing below your porch, or the hills of painted stone….relax your mind and your soul. Tom will regale you with stories from his colorful past, Kobei the African Tortoise will fix you with his ancient eyes, Jax the particular pooch might grace you with his presence and his quiet demand for worship, Theresa’s laugh will captivate you with its joy…… you can feel whole and peaceful. This place is not for everyone. It is for folks who love the silence and the rocks and walking down a wash and examining small plants and looking for fossils and spending time engaging in serenity, or…playing disc golf since he runs two, 18 hole courses renowned for their beauty and difficulty. Me? I will take...
