We were two nights at the Hal Canyon campground. All of the campgrounds in this series beside the Colorado River along Utah highway 128 share the sounds of the river with traffic. More river than highway this time of year, late September. Clean toilet and ample trash container provide infrastructure along with bench style table and safe fire rings. This particular campground has more tent sites and smaller RV spaces than the two which are north and south of it. Read moreIf you are looking for a place to sleep at night near Moab, Utah and don't mind camping, this campground is a good budget choice. This is one of a handful of basic campgrounds in the canyon, just outside of town. The sites are basic and some don't have any shade. There are pit toilets, no running water. We just needed a place to stay overnight and didn't want to pay $40 for a tent site. This campground is $20 a night, which if you know Moab prices is a bargain. I can give you a review on Utah 128 the upper Colorado River scenic byway is one of my favorite scenic routes in the country. The route is only a little over 44 miles long and starts on interstate 70 and ends at Moab Utah. The route itself winds through a gorgeous canyon that is picturesque and breathtaking in every way.
