Where do I begin? We pulled in at night, and were super excited to explore the vast resort the next morning. Our site was easily marked on an easy-to-follow map for our late arrival, and our hook-ups were all appropriately placed, so getting set up in the dark was east enough. We went to bed with plans to explore the amenities the next morning. When morning came and we stepped out of the RV into the daylight, our spirits sank. We were looking at what looked to be a backwoods, run-down trailer park filled with RV trailers that seemed to be here for years. The vast majority were all repleat with decks and porches that had obviously been built onto or around the trailers. There was junk in our campsite (old, broken picnic table overturned 5 feet from our door) and broken fire pit rings next to that. An old metal shed sitting precariously on blocks, also 5 feet from our door. The pools were empty just the other side of the road in front of our site, and one of them was clearly indicated with a sign that said, "For permanent guests only", and it seemed to be the better of the two pools, complete with a diving board, and obviously much larger than the "Guest" pool. The putt-putt golf course was in horrible shape, with leaves and branches on the greens, and with mud and litter filling the holes, so that when you went to retrieve your golf ball, you got a hand full of muck. Our site was supposed to be an Elite site, which evidently means it is near all of the important amenities. And it was. But it was also one of the most poorly maintained sites. The grass needed trimming, and the trash… How about the lake itself? Aside from a creepy mausoleum on one end of the lake, apparently occupied by Mr. Meyers (he and his wife owned the property around the lake, and created the RV resort themselves, and while locals say the husband is buried there, management are not clear if he is or not), and the filth was deterrent enough that my husband refused to join me paddleboarding. There was plenty enough refuse along the edges to fill a dump truck, and along the shoreline near the mausoleum were small boats and docks that were an eye-sore. Probably belonging to some of the "permanent" residents of the "resort". We are Thousand Trails annual passholders. And while this is only our second use of our pass for the year, we are truly hoping other RV resorts in the Thousand Trails inventory don't come close to resembling this location. On a different note, the District Manager and I had a chance to discuss my disappointment, and he did say that there are plans to make some vast improvements. Maybe we will give Lake Meyers a chance again in the future, after they have had a chance to clean up and revamp, but I will not book here again until I have had an opportunity to take a tour.

Went there today to tour the campground for a seasonal spot next season, and was very upset to find such a significant difference from the wonderful photos of the campground on their website vs reality when we arrived. I now notice that the photos on their website are the exact photos posted by the campground online 9+ years ago according to the dates on them when originally posted... -------- THE NEGATIVES: **To start, the pool area does not look like photos on their website. No kids slide, no waterfall, did not see a diving board but could have overlooked that, dirty walk-in areas, rusted fences (pool water appeared clean, though). **Sadly, the putt-putt / mini golf course looked very neglected and not in the condition/appearance as the outdated photo on the website. **A basketball goal beside the play area was a crooked rim without a net that was screwed onto a painted wooden board; I was quite confused when I saw it. **Some of the available seasonal sites looked nice, about 40% of all the ones we looked at, but what didn't look nice was a lot of the surrounding sites people appear to have long term spots at. Many campers were seen in need of serious repair & cleaning, cluttered sites with junk/trash, roads and grounds not well maintained. ------ THE POSITIVES: **The lady at the front office was extremely nice and answered all our questions prior to going out and exploring the campground. Was very appreciative of that. **Seems like they have a lot of activities for kids/family according to their events calendar posted near the pool area. ------- **Based off the old photos on their website that are 9+ years old, the campground looks like at one point in the past it was a very nice place one would not want to pass up. I feel like it still has a lot of potential and can probably get back to being that type of campground the old photos on the website show, as I don't think it is past the point of no return, but it definitely needs serious maintenance/upkeep throughout and more strict rules/enforcement with how guests maintain their sites & campers in order to get back to that campground it seemed it use to be.

Wow, this campground has some big problems and many little ones. 1. There appear to be VERY few short-stay sites, and those we saw were very unlevel, very narrow, and poorly maintained. 2. The power post had no breaker and looked to be in bad shape. 3. Toward the end of our stay, water pressure went WAY down, apparently due to the filling of two large swimming pools (I expect it will take a week or more to fill them, so we were glad to be leaving when we did). 4. Grounds/lawn maintenance was poor. We also saw the lawn service onsite one day, weed-wacking right thru garbage laying on the ground. When it clogged up the equipment, the crew simply pulled the garbage off the equipment and threw it back on the ground! 5. The roads are poorly maintained, with large chunks of pavement missing on the edges and washouts due to water runoff. 6. the buildings look run-down and aged. The entire place needs a sprucing up and a large infusion of cash/repairs/maintenance/improvements. 7. The sewer literally OVERFLOWED out of the ground and ran down the street as we and our neighbors emptied their grey and black tanks, apparently due to a belated emptying of the septic system.....ewwww!!! The vast majority of the campground is year-round campsites, with a general appearance of run-down lots and trailers, lots of junky diy fences, decks, worn out and excessive decor and vast stretches of gravel and stones everywhere, with most ground vegetation destroyed or missing. There are dilapidated and abandoned structures, low hanging branches, too-narrow roads and tight turns. We will not be back, but I get a sense that they like it that way.

It's hard to find where to start on all the things that disappointed us about Lake Myers.. First let's begin with the false advertising.. All of the pictures on the website and the brochure need to be updated -nothing looks like it does in print except maybe the pool. The images are so outdated it isn't funny. The whole place is a dump! It was incredibly challenging just navigating driving through. The roads are very narrow and not made for the bigger trucks and rigs like we have- and ours isn't that big ,only 32'. We had to drive over this bridge which didn't even seem like it could handle our load and fight for space on the road up to our section.. We were put in a spot that was basically a mud pit. Hardly any gravel to compensate for the mud and the spot really was too narrow for us to get in easily. The embankment behind us was pretty significant and just full of tons of wet leaves and fallen tree limbs- which was a theme throughout. No one bothered to check the site in who knows how long to verify it was satisfactory. The sewer hookup had no cover except for the rock someone decided to place over the hole.. I mean c'mon!! The power situation was just as sad- only a 30amp which can't even power my entire RV. No breaker in the box and not even a 120 connection. The old cable tv boxes were just sitting there with exposed wires in the elements. These are serious safety issues and need to get addressed before someone gets hurt! This park is 95% occupied by full time residents and a majority of those have just let their stuff get to the point of no return- full of foliage, broken components, trash, etc.. etc.. Those of us who come short term are just dumped into whatever crappy spot isn't being utilized by a full timer. There are a handful of cabins that I am sure were really nice at one point, but currently they are completely overgrown with the surrounding trees and leaves cover every surface. If these are being rented out, some authority needs to be called. All of them need to be condemned and bulldozed. The grounds show so much neglect no matter which part of the campground you wander to. Things look like they haven't been cared for in a decade or more. Which is just sad- this place I am sure was once beautiful. The B Section Bathhouse was out of commission during our stay which was pretty inconvenient. I could keep going but I will stop here.. Needless to say, we will not be returning...

We recently purchased a TT membership and have been trying to utilize that exclusively, plus the location was good for us to visit our friends nearby. This park is older (established 1960) and reflects that; the sites are on the smaller side and close together. We managed to get our 37' fifth wheel into the site, but it was challenging. However, once we were in, all was well. We stayed for a little over two weeks. The pros: the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our neighbors were kind and friendly (we felt safe there), and it was quiet. Two+ huge pools, plenty of loungers. The cons: the campground has the potential to be great. It would appear that improvements are being made (new kids playground, new benches around the common areas, etc), however they have a long way to go. The pools are in need of decking repair or replacement. Same for the basketball court and mini-golf. These are a bit of an eye-sore but still usable. Our hook-ups were OK, again on the older side. We had trouble with water pressure (county was working on the main line to the park and expanding the water system). We solved this by adding water to our fresh tank when pressure was low. It would appear that the majority of campers are full-time residents or seasonal owners. Some have pride of ownership, others do not. Some sites give the impression that no one has been there for a very long time-leaves and debris everywhere, mold on their campers. We understand that there has been a lot of turnover with management of the park. Perhaps in the future, they could require tidier sites and occasional power washing of trailers. That would go a long way. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. Final points to consider: this park is NOT big rig friendly. Unless you are extremely confident with your backing in skills, I would probably avoid this campground. Our opinion- a trailer no bigger than 37' or less. The roads in are narrow, twisty, hilly, and bumpy, and need repaving. You can do it. Just go slow, but it is not relaxing getting in lol. This is long (sorry), but I hope helpful. Our attitude: once we're set up, we're home, where we have everything we need. Then you explore where you are and enjoy; the...
