We love Obsi! This was our second trip to obsi and our second time staying at Loon Point, it is without a doubt our favorite spot to connect as a family. (Me, my 8yr old son, our dog) A 100% zero stress camping trip-thank you Kent! Everything we needed was provided, minus the food, drinks, (other than water which is delicious and provided by Kent, and less to pack yay!)and clothes. Can't wait to go back and make some more memories....relax, connect, fish, grill, canoe, swim, relax, walk, breathe, listen to loons, read, sleep in a hammock, paint, cook a s'more, watch the sunset, photograph a shroom, sit by the fire and star gaze, disconnect and decompress... repeat! Thanks again for bringing Wes the worms and bobbers as he requested Kent, they really made him fall in love with fishing! We look forward to planning next years family trip to this beautiful escape.

Words don't describe how awesome 1 Big Sustainable Island is, and the people who run it. This fully sustainable 14 acre island was so relaxing and fun to stay at. We stayed in the A Frame and for four people it was an affordable escape. Some of the best parts: boat shuttle to the island by the owner who talked to you about the entire lakes history. The compostable toilets, rain barrel pump sinks and shower, are luxurious for camping and are actually truly sustainable (no greenwashing). Free firewood, canoes, and fresh water at your disposal. The trails around the island are fun and you definitely have to use the rope swing. Remember, when here to follow leave no trace and sustainability guidelines. Do not leave trash and respect all aspects of nature to keep this place wild and sustainable.

Ive been to 1BSI twice now. The First time with my husband we stayed in the yurt.. Second time was withmy 18 yr old son and 16 yr old niece. Both experiences were fantastic!! You literally dont not need to bring anything but your food and clothes. Everything is clean organized and well stocked. When you go the prepare to relax. Dont worry if the weather is great or if its storming. They have all you need to have a grwat time rain or shine!! Definitly will be going back agsin and again. Next time Im bringing my parents and the rest of my family. Maybe rent every place on the island !! Rates are very reasonable. Kent even gave an unexpected refund for my sisters stay. When she couldnt make it. Thanks Kent and Heather. Cant wait to book our next visit to 1BsI :)

My partner and I visited 1BSI during early August of 2024. We stayed at Hemlock Haven two years ago, so we were looking forward to returning this year, this time at Loon Point.

When we arrived, everything was easy. Kent and Rachel were so helpful, loading everything onto the boat for us! We shared a lovely boat ride over to the island, learning some history about the lake on the way. We were dropped off at the site, which was pretty neat!

Kent gave us a rundown and answered all of our questions. He said it should feel like a 5 star experience (it did!) and to call or text him if we needed anything.

From there we dropped everything and jumped into the lake! The water was perfect. If you enjoy swimming like we do, 1BSI is the place for you!

It felt healing to wake up each morning to the view of sparkling water. The tent is spacious and has everything you might need.

The wildlife was abundant! We saw loons, eagles, and a heron, to name a few! Sunsets were spectacular. My favorite spot on the site was the hammock. I remember thinking to myself in the moment, swaying in the breeze above the water, “remember this feeling.”

Kent is always a wonderful host and an amazing resource. It is clear that he cares deeply for the lake and all its inhabitants. Thank you so much again, Kent. We’ll see...

Went here for a 2 night stay last weekend. Had car touble on the way up and a family emergency, and Kent and Heather were beyond accommodating. As for the island itself, we could not believe how private it was. All 5 sites were full Saturday night and we had no idea. We felt like (and thought lol) that we were by ourselves on the island. We did see Kent and Heather on Saturday and chatted a bit but they went out of their ways to be always available but give us so much space to enjoy ourselves. The site itself was absolutely lovely. We stayed in Hemlock Haven and next time would like to try out Loon Point. All of the basics you need are provided, along with special touches like books and games. What a perfect place to escape from life for a weekend, leave your phone and watch in the tent, and explore. We cannot thank Kent and Heather, Sky, Bella (and the younger brother who's name is escaping me at the moment) enough. This was our first vacation together and despite our challenges we had the most amazing time just being surrounded by an almost untouched peacefulness. We cannot wait to come back at least once a year, and plan on bringing family with us as well. See...

Incredible trip - it sounded too good to be true at first but 1BSI delivered 100%. Imagine packing for a nature getaway and being handed a whole list of things you don't need to bring! If you're reading this far in - don't hesitate to book as you won't regret it!

Kent & Heather do everything they can to make it a wonderful retreat. As another reviewer mentioned, they are there if you ever need them but also give you your space to enjoy the wilderness. You can tell this is a lifelong passion project for Kent - there are upgrades being worked on throughout and I'm looking forward to my next visit

If you're into sustainable living/traveling (and even if you aren't)- it's refreshing to see a project that stays true to their core mission & values. The realization hit me one night as I was building a cozy fire with some newspaper they provided as kindling. As the young fire grew, I noticed the newspaper had a crossword puzzle that had already been filled out. I realized that sustainability at 1BSI isn't a marketing ploy but an authentic way of life. The beauty of nature rests in it's authenticity, making this island a perfect getaway...
