This is a private owned campground, I'm NOT going to recommend this place for the families that like to actually spend time with their children. This place rents spots for your camper and you pay by the year at first I thought it was a nice family campground but soon found out most all of the adults start drinking Friday and don't stop till Sunday only bad thing is their children are left to run around and parents are staggering to get home at midnight. And I've NEVER IN MY LIFE MET A MANAGER AS RUDE AS LYNN! SHE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO TAKE HER SPARE KEY TO A CAMPERS RESIDENT AND GO TAKE A QICK PEEK WHILE OWNER WASNT THERE DURRINGTHE WEEKDAYS. The manager Lynn talks to their customers really nasty! She said it would not effect if the customer stays or not because she could careless. My husband and I was hired late last June and the 1st 30 days we are only on a trial basis and as long as we did our work and we all got along then after the 30 day probation and if the owner offered us the permanent position an nd if we liked the job we could work there. Well all was good for us as well as them the owner said we would get a used 3 bedroom trailer and we both would get a check every 1st of the month and we would only have 1 day a week off. Well eventually summer was coming to a fast end and The last day it would be opened was October 1st. The manager Lynn called my husband and I out on the porch and she said well I'm sorry I have to tell you guys this but I want all your keys you No longer work here anymore! We kinda thought she was going to do that to us at the last minute, so she got great pleasure taking our job and the trailer we lived in. We had nowhere to go and now jobless, so we had to move all our stuff out and rent a storage unit. I really didn't plane to write a short story lol but felt I needed to let the public how nasty and disrespectful and rud3 she is to any and every One she wanted to. This is a rather clean kept campground and almost every camper that is out there is the only buisinuss they keep, there is over 40 primitive lots but most people don't come back because of Lynn and the owner is ok with her disrespecting...
Read moreWhile our site (31) wasn't exactly tent friendly (not much room, no grass, dirt ground), it appeared that there are LOTs of tent friendly spots with flat, grassy spots for tents. Bathrooms and shower houses are within quick walking distance of all campsites. There's privacy between most spots as well. Campgrounds were clean, "Camper Host" volunteers were plentiful, visible, and active. (These are the volunteers that stay for weeks at a time, organize events, clean bathrooms, etc). ||||There were lots of activities offered this weekend, like tours inside the dam, scavenger hunts for the kids, mini-golf, disc golf, nature center with activities, hiking trails, crafts for the kids (tye-dye shirts for $8 each), family friendly movies at night. Picnic tables and fire rings all appeared in good shape. Lots of kids riding bikes and out exploring alone, a very safe spot with people watching out for each other and slow cautious drivers as well. Well patrolled by county sheriffs and park rangers. There's also a snack shack in the middle of the campground.||||The only downfall is that mosquitos are out in force this year because of all the rain. Bring your bug spray! Also, my kids said the playgrounds were pretty sad, in need of repair and upgrades. ||||We also ordered pizza from the bar (Harding's) inside the lodge for dinner one night. About $25 for a 16" one topping and 10" cheese pizza, not horrible. Pizza was good and ready for pickup in 30 minutes. ||||We also visited the pool at the lodge, which was great fun. It was crowded, but the pool is fairly large. It was nice seeing a true deep end as...
Read moreI stayed here with my extended family for 4 days in June 2013. I do not agree with the other reviewer about the smell of pot. We never saw/smelled anything illegal the whole time we were there. We chose Deer Creek because my in-laws had camped here many times over the years but not in the past few years. The campground was great, no problems there at all. Bathrooms were very clean and our camping neighbors were always respectful of keeping their noise down at night. ||The only negative was we went to the beach to swim and none of us changed into our bathing suits at the campsite because she said there were bathrooms and a changing room at the beach. We get to the beach and we learned that they closed off the changing rooms/bathrooms a few years ago! There were a line of Portapotties available. Are you kidding me?! It was really awful changing in one. Why would they decide to close down the bathrooms and bring in Porta...
