This is a campground as well as a place for people to join with a seasonal trailer. My family and I purchased a seasonal spot in 2020 and recently sold it. My hope is that by sharing my experience, I will save others from going in without a clear vision of Sandy Pines.|| Although the amenities and recreational choices are amazing, the management of this campground is some of the worst that I've ever experienced. There are SO many rules, however these rules are not consistently enforced leaving you often confused. Communication is lacking and you will not hear back when you reach out regarding permits, questions, or even when your trailer sells. Here are some examples of my experience:|1. My close friend hired a company (Bos Built) to put a deck on her trailer. The company entered the park 7 days in a row with multiple vehicles and built her deck without her present. On the 8th day this same company was going to come in to put vinyl plank in a room in my trailer. When I called to get them a guest pass to enter the park, I was told they wouldn't allow the company to enter without me being present. I explained my confusion by this and they were not willing to listen and in fact told me that I was wrong about my friend not being there (I was on vacation with her in North Carolina when they were building the deck). I reached out to the park president about the inconsistency and was given no resolution.|2. I joined the rules committee after my flooring experience to hopefully understand how the rules are developed and discussed. The handbook (rules, regulations, bylaws) is 79 pages long. There is not a chance that these rules will ever be less with the current board and committee. Every concern regarding a rule brought to the committee in my time serving was met with immediate resistance to any change. Reasoning always fell back on liability. Some examples of rules discussed- the contractors in the park without member present (liability, safety), a pontoon boat with a See-Doo switch engine (liability, way to dangerous), electric bikes/scooters/etc (need to add a rule to eliminate due to liability), lot clean up (SERIOUS discussion with zero tolerance for even a fist size amount of mildew due to it taking away neighbor's ability to be happy). There will be no change so be aware of rules before buying a seasonal lot.|3. While serving on the rules committee, we as committee members were asked to drive around on our golf carts and look for those that didn't clean up their lot and text/email security so they could write tickets. Yes. They wanted us to spend our time on vacation tattling on others. Everyone on the committee happily did this except me. |4. I got a site cleanup citation for having extra patio blocks stacked beside my deck ($100 fine). I really was unaware of this being “trashy.” The patio blocks were there when I bought in 2020 (it was not mentioned at closing/inspection) and I did not get cited in 2021 or 2022. This year I did. Inconsistency continues, as my neighbor across the street had patio blocks in the driveway. They did not receive a citation. They mail you a paper to your home address telling you that you have a citation, but it doesn't include a date. Like snail mail it. You have 2 weeks to clean it up or they fine you again. ($200 and 2 points, 6 points gets your card access removed). While I called immediately upon receiving the citation in the mail to determine the date of citation, it had already been 2 weeks.|5. We knew it was time to go. We listed our trailer using Kent from sales to help us. On Thursday, July 27 I got a call from Kent with an offer. We did counter offer, but didn’t hear back from Kent. I assumed the potential buyer didn't take my counter. On Monday, July 31 I was at a public event downtown where we live. I was approached by a friend who told me my trailer sold (she knew someone who knew the buyer). Another person also approached me telling me it sold. Kent didn't tell me. I emailed him that night and he confirmed that yes it sold (offer accepted on Saturday, July 29 and money put down/contract signed the morning of July 31), he's just been busy. When I expressed the unprofessionalism of finding out through the grapevine, he accused me of just being emotional. I emailed the president, Jeff on August 1, but he didn't even respond. I emailed him again on August 14 and he responded without an apology but stating that Kent was extremely professional and did nothing wrong. Kent will receive 6% of my sale, even if he is not professional and doesn’t communicate the actual sale with me.||I am not alone in my feelings. The facebook group for members is full of people sharing similar experiences to mine. Perhaps join that group if able before purchasing a...
Read moreWhat a campground! My wife and I have 3 kids and have camped all over the state of Michigan over the past 15 years. Mostly state, but also many private campgrounds. We have a high-wall pop-up camper that is 26' opened up 1 slide-out. This park is hands down the best overall experience you will find. To be clear, this is far from your traditional campground. We camped here for the 1st time over Memorial Day weekend in 2018 after stumbling across it searching google for campgrounds we had not been to before. We liked it so much after our initial 3 night stay that we came back for 2 more 3 night camping trips this summer! One was over July 4th week and the 3rd was just this past weekend in August. Most of the sites are occupied by seasonal camp members who have nice, modern mobile homes. There are also many sites that can be rented by non-members (like me) who bring travel trailers, popup campers, or tents. There are numerous park-owned cabins to rent scattered all over as well. One of the nicest parts of this campground being primarily occupied by seasonal mobile home owners is the 14 VERY LARGE bathrooms are virtually unoccupied and wait-free when wanting to shower or use the restrooms. All are very well kept and clean. The campground itself surrounds a very beautiful man-made lake, Monterrey Lake. This lake is very clean, rock free (sandy bottom and beaches), and fairly well stocked with small fish. You will find many campers bring boats and enjoy tubing or cruising the lake. The campground has everything you can could of amenity-wise and then some; golf course, mini golf, a spray-park for kids with water slide, multiple pools, an arcade, pickle ball courts, MANY tennis and basketball courts, shuffle board, RC car tracks, disc golf course, horse shoes, baseball fields, soccer fields, a human foosball, fitness room, gaga ball courts, running trails, a ropes course, volleyball court....MANY playgrounds, etc. The list goes on. It even has its own ice cream shop which also serves burgers, nachos, sandwiches, and hot dogs. Everything accepts credit card too should you not carry cash like me which was nice. The campground also has a convenience store (no alcohol - but it can be purchased from convenience store just across the street from park entrance). There are also multiple laundromats, a "golf cart car wash", a gas pump, a hair salon, a library...so many cool little things about this place. There is even an on-site chapel for church service on Sundays for those wish to attend! You drive up in your golf cart or bikes. The park also has many scheduled event activities for both adults and kids. Be aware you WILL want to rent a golf cart from the campground. Not only will you want to rent one, but you essentially MUST rent one to get around as this place is soo HUGE. For 3 nights, it costs about $160 to rent an electric golf cart from the campground. The closest campground in size to this place we've been to is Mill Creek up in Mackinaw City. That park is huge but this place dwarfs it in size and blows it away in terms of amenities. All sites come with full cable access and wifi for those with kids or needing an escape should bad weather occur. The only down side of this park is there is just 1 dump station for RVs and it can be a long way from where your site is. It was literally 2 or 3 miles across the park from where we camped but thankfully we had a golf cart to carry our toilet cassette to it. Soo much to do and enjoy that you will be craving coming back. This place is the new standard for "luxury" campground camping. While it is going to be a more expense nightly rate + golf cart expense than your normal campground, all the amenities of this park make it well worth it. We'll be back again in May 2019! We can't rationalize going anywhere else. It should also be noted that this park is shows as only being 24 miles from Saugatuck for those wishing to make a day trip to Lake MI, but this is actually a 40-45 minute drive due to going through back roads to get there. We have intended to make this day trip many times but once we have gotten to the park, we haven't felt...

At the sights 30-50 amp electric hook ups with flat level sights with fire pits & picnic table. And you can use all of the ammenetys including two beachs on our private lake. They also are willing to give tours of the entire community if your thinking of becoming a member. This is my review of Sandy Pines I am just a member I am not receiving any thing for a positive review these are my words and my onhest review of our community. The camping prices are more than any regular campground. Though you will never find another campground in Michigan that has so much to do ohh they have small cabins for the family that does not go camping they have many sights near the bathhouses that you will find very clean and plenty big enough with hot showers that are free to use. Don't miss our own ice cream shop with hard ice cream with about 20 flavors I think & soft serve , sundee's blizerd type ice cream I have not tried one my self so not sure the best way to describe it. The prices are very reasonable.probly less than most ice cream shops with just average ice cream they use only Hudsonville ice cream So not sure what else can I say. I'm sure I missed some of the things there are to do like they rent kayaks, robot, paddle boards, bicycles and golf carts to get around the very...
