We needed a motel just for one night on a road trip. We were a bit wary of this hotel because we usually stay in chains so we have a better idea what to expect.||||The young woman who helped us was friendly & polite. We got into our room right away and the first thing we noticed was that the room was very large. With 2 full beds, they could have easily fit another bed or two in the room. Although it was not modern or newly renovated, everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. We put the a/c on low just because it was a bit too humid, and the a/c worked fine. The room had a mini fridge and microwave, though the set up with the microwave actually secured to the top of the fridge, which was placed on a low table, meant the microwave cord didn't reach the outlet. So we did have to move the fridge & microwave onto the floor to plug it in; no biggie, just odd.||||The reason I knocked off one star (most accurate would be 3.5 stars) because the "free continental breakfast" was not available as it was supposed to be. We needed to get breakfast around 8a so we could get on the road early, but the lobby was locked and no one was there. We packed up & left by about 9a, and still there was no one in the office so we could get a quick bite. We didn't see anywhere nearby to grab a quick breakfast such as bagels, so we just left & had to find a Panera quite a few miles away.||||We also didn't think it was good practice to advertise rooms for $28.xx per night, then when we pulled in they said that is only for 1 person. Double bed rooms were nearly double the price. It seemed a bit much when were there but 10 hours and didn't...
Read moreWe have stayed at the Red Carpet Inn in Montrose several times and have always found it satisfactory. It is in a barren spot and it is a bit tired, and they never seem to put the breakfast out, but is has always been clean and the beds are comfy, and the showers are hot, and it is pretty cheap.
The main other complaints I see about this motel are water damage and mold (there is definitely water damage in the bathrooms, so mold is pretty likely, but I have not seen it or smelled it).
The other complaint has been bed bugs. We have never seen any evidence of bed bugs ... UNTIL THIS VISIT. We were in room 114, and a pocket-dial woke us up at 1:00am. As I settled back in, i felt something crawling. I caught it, and it was definitely a bed bug.
We notified the night manager, who offered us a 50% refund. I said that is clearly not acceptable. To be clear, he seems a nice guy, and I woke him up at 1:15am. i think he is not authorized to do refunds on credit cards,
So, we left our number, receiving a promise that the owner would call us at 9:00 am. That was almost three days ago, and so far no call, nor can I get anyone to answer my calls. I need to try from a different phone.
So, I regret that I must give this motel an...
Read moreSo currently at property. Several major issues here. The front desk people were friendly enough. The *free WiFi" was a joke. You only had signal if you were standing in the lobby. The beds were hard. Apparently we decided to stay on hillbilly fight night and the noise went on seemingly forever. I didn't detect any bugs and I did check. Now onto the bathrooms. The grout in the tile floor was something out of a horror movie. The shower was cracked, the silicone strips were dirty, stained, and disgusting. The bath faucet leaked and has for ages by looking at the drain lever which is calcified due to it. My wife and I travel a lot and our motto is all you need is a bed and a shower. Well this place has half. The bed was a bed and I slept. But the bathroom was out of a...
