Atrocious dump.

I was appalled as I stepped into the staircase and it smelled of roadkill, and I was even more appalled when I discovered the source of the smell was the ice machine! I have no desire to ever know what could cause an ice machine to smell of roadkill.

The roadkill ice dispenser has been the highlight of my stay here at the Mound City Super 8.

I am currently sitting on the bed, trying to ignore the stained sheets that have clearly not been changed or washed. There are questionable red stains on the bathroom towels. The bathroom floor is visibly filthy. I will not be utilizing the shower here at the Mound City Super 8 since I believe it will simply be a waste of time, as I would immediately be touching seemingly unwashed linens upon leaving said shower.

There are signs posted at several entrances asking guests to not leave deer and duck parts in the Mound City Super 8 dumpsters, which unfortunately might explain the ice machine smelling of roadkill. My grandmother was a taxidermist and her workshop smelled significantly better than the Mound City Super 8.

The one and only positive thing I can say about the Mound City Super 8 is that the television and air conditioning work.

This place is horrific and I have been given a terrible impression of Mound City, Missouri. Do not stay here if basic cleanliness matters to you, or if you have a sense of smell. I would give this place negative stars if it...

I just want to thank you for a wonderful stay. The location is great. Just off of 29 in quiet Mound City. I felt very safe at this location and as a woman traveling alone, this was very important to me. I had my little dog with me. He is handicapped and I use a pet stroller for him. My room was on the 2nd floor and I realized there was no elevator so I was going to carry my pup up the steps in his stroller. When the front desk attendant Hudson saw me with my pup, he carried my dog in his stroller up the steps for me and assured me it was no problem. He was so happy to help and spent some time giving my dog some pets and talking to him. This meant the world to me, I had been traveling for almost 10 hours and was exhausted and alone. His kindness will never be forgotten by me. The world needs more people like him. He went above and beyond just to help me. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. Shampoo and conditioner there too which was great because I had none with me! Breakfast was so good! I had a muffin and a yogurt but there was cereal and waffles too. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Please thank Hudson for me for his kindness and for carrying my dog up the steps for me. It meant a lot! God bless him! I will definitely stay here again when...

When I first checked in, the person at the reception was really helpful. I got into my room, and when I went to shower, that is where I was shocked. The bathroom was the dirtiest I have seen in a hotel that is charging top dollar. That is home to the E-coli, Micrococcus, Staphylococcus, Bacillus, Pseudomonas live. I put a towel on the bathroom to shower, then went to the front, and I showed them the video. When I showed the person who checked me in, he said I showed it to the manager who was at the desk. The manager told me his hotel is very clean and I should look at the reviews. My mind wondered whether I had come in with all the bacteria in tow in my suitcase and laid them in the shower. He did not apologise but told the checking guy to go look to make sure I did not come with the microorganisms. He took videos of the bathroom and left. I slept on the edge and was just disgusted. The manager did not even apologise at all. He said he would inform his housekeeping. From all the negative reviews, that is the answer he gives. I had booked through booking.com and I made a complaint...

This hotel is the absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed at, in my entire life. Room was dirty, stains on the bed covers. Mold/Mildew all over the bathroom ceiling. Dead spider on the bathroom floor. Bathroom fan was extremely noisy. Receptacle cover was broken by the bed, which is likely a building code and health/safety violation. AC didn't work well and was noisy, room was extremely hot. Walls are paper thin, could hear the people in the next room over (presidential suite) talking and yelling until 2am. Bed spring made noises and popped every time you moved on it. Had to park my car with a uhaul trailer in a dirt parking lot that wasn't lit well or had any line of sight too. Spent all night worrying my car/trailer would be broken into. Got no sleep, left before the sun came up. Waste of money, and I warn everyone to avoid this place like the plague. Should have just slept in my car at a rest stop instead.

The front desk staff was professional and courteous. The room was run down....like they tried to put lipstick on a pig. The duvet covers had stains, the microwave was only turned on by the light switch by the door, the light cover was missing pieces, the toilet stopper had to be reattached every flush to get the toilet to stop running. Carpets are outdated. The hallways smell terribly. The bathroom light is missing a cover and the bathroom fan sounds like a jet engine taking off. When first entering the room it smelled of mildew. The Indian family running facility appear to occupy the presidential suite and are very loud and noisy. The sweet man who checked us in asked for good reviews but I can't in good conscious, give false information. The water pressure was great, no signs of bed bugs, and easy access off interstate are what they have going for them.
