I was a frequent traveler, but this is the first stay I've had anywhere since the pandemic started. All of the staff I encountered were properly masked and friendly. The facility was very clean and they took many precautions, although the pool and fitness rooms are open. You can avoid daily housekeeping by putting your trash and towels in the hall in the morning to be replaced. There is a 24-hour hot drinks station with individually-wrapped cups and the business center has sanitizer right beside the keyboard and printer. There's a grassy, shaded area to walk your dog or sit at a picnic table. It is cut through by a creek, so I imagine in the summer it can get buggy. Breakfast was better than expected—anytime until noon, ask the front desk for any of the menu items ‘to go’. The menu included a variety of drinks, foods and condiments to eat cold or heat in the microwave.
For the room: I stayed in the basic King, which had a desk and oversized upholstered chair/ottoman. The room was VERY clean and modern. Triple-sheeted, the bed is comfortable and the pillows are large and fluffy -- none of those half-pillows or cheap, scratchy sheets, and no decorative elements.
The widescreen TV had basic cable, no HBO. The refrigerator was spacious but had no freezer compartment. The microwave was very small. I was on the first floor, facing the highway. The bottom window could tilt open a little for outside ventilation. I didn’t hear highway noise when the windows were closed. The light-blocking curtain was very effective. The carpet in the bed area was of the almost no-pile type, which is easier to keep clean.
There was not much storage—the nightstands had an empty space you could stuff a small suitcase in, but otherwise there were two small clothes drawers and a narrow closet. Ample lamps with bright white light made it easy to get some work done. The table lamps had electric outlets, but no USB connections. WiFi was strong the entire stay.
The sink was outside of the bathroom and had several individual bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, facial and hand soap, makeup remover wipe, shower cap and a little kit with cotton round/swab. There was an iron board/iron, hair dryer, clothes bag and foldable valet stand. The hangers were the normal kind, thankfully. The bath had a rainfall showerhead with good pressure and plenty of hot water.
Now for the (minor) negatives: the bathroom fan comes on automatically with the light, and it is LOUD. It continues running for some time after its is turned off. Shut the bathroom door to dampen the noise. If you are in the bathroom or the door is open, you will hear your neighbor's shower and toilet running. The morning routine was noisy! I did not otherwise have trouble with outside sound during my stay.
The bathroom is extremely narrow and the door reaches almost to the toilet. It is challenging to get out of the bathroom if you are a larger person or not dexterous. Don’t hang your clothes on the door hooks or you'll make it worse! This was the only thing I truly disliked during my stay. Another odd note given all the COVID precautions—the tissue box is on top of the toilet (the virus can spread through flushing). Yuck.
The parking lot is spacious, but it is on a gradual slope. A large water jug fell out of my car and quickly rolled all the way down to the grassy area. This area is down a short embankment, but there are three steps with a rail provided. If you have mobility challenges, ask the staff for suggestions on the best place to relieve your dog.
Bottom line, I would absolutely stay here again. The location is perfect (right off the highway and close to the college / town) and they made me feel very comfortable and safe. I wouldn't pay much more in non-pandemic times as there are so many other options—but as long as the price stays reasonable, this is a...
Read moreThis was my experience staying at this hotel. Hotel is 30mins away from Hershey park. It was all worth the distance. SureStay is a pet friendly hotel but the hotel is kept so clean and stopless that you would not even know pets were around until you actually see them around the lobby. The Staff - Starting with the Receptionist to the cleaning staff, I stayed 2 nights, there were 3 ladies in total from the first to the last they were all very welcoming and very knowledgable of the area which help us so much. I have to share, friends and I were at the lobby sitting area and the receptionist came over to us with "FRESHLY BAKED CHOCOLATE COOKIES!!!" who does't that ?? Breakfast - what a great layout, from pancakes (make your own) to delicious ham & eggs, country syle gravy - and much, much, more, amazing - great chef in the back - It was such a great assortment of delicious food to please everyones tastes buds. Food is kept protected and the area is kept so clean. Young man comes out every (which seems like every 2mins) to check from what's needed to keeping the area cleaning, while saying Good morning to everyone. That was so nice to see. Cleaning staff --- from cleaing rooms to making sure the hotel is spotless was great. Some vistiors would sit in the sitting area and once they would get up it like a bell goes off silently and someone comes out to clean the sitting area. If anyone is needing a pet friendly hotel, visting Hershey Park this is the place to stay. If you don't mine the 30min drive. Great , amazing staff , amazing stay!!! This hotel has the best hospitality!! Again, this was my experience and I...
Read moreI chose the hotel because it was between two locations that we were visiting. We were put off right away when we pulled into the lot and there were like ten cars. Thankful, for the lack of crowd, but still odd. The staff was helpful, but were disappointed to find only a limited selection of grab and go breakfast options (not great choices to select from either). We had to switch rooms immediately upon entering the first room. The room not only smelled stale and like smoke, but it was right across from the elevator and next to the vending machines. The lighting in the room was also very dim with bright white lightbulbs. Hmmm.... Hello, there were a minimum of ten cars in the parking lot and this was the best room available??? The second room was better, but now by the steps and exit (people, including the cleaning staff seem to like to slam doors when closing doors). The cleaning staff was slamming doors very early in the morning. I understand they have their work to do, but again, how many rooms were actually occupied? By the next morning maybe ten more cars were in the lot. The last kick was when I was checking the room to make sure we had everything and nothing was left behind (see picture below). That is NOT our stuff!!!!!!! So much for extra cleaning procedure for the rooms! And to leave a tip envelope in the room, yeah okay (again, see picture below). After charging almost $200 for a one night stay, no hot breakfast, limited food selections and room not even fully cleaned!!! - Would we stay here again or recommend this particular...
