Location of the campground itself is a 5 star being right on the White River. However, would recommend this campground ONLY if you are renting one of their cabins or in an RV. Definitely not a pleasant location for tenting.

Only 4 campsites but they are within feet of each other with no coverage in between. Worst part is the sites face a big beautiful field that could afford plenty of room to not have to be right up against another camper. Another issue was the entire field is burr grass. The burrs weren’t horribly bad but got into some clothing and in the dog’s fur. :( The biggest, worse and noisiest issue is the CONSTANT, extremely loud reverberating sounds of traffic across the almost overhead bridge. The noise was so loud in the evenings when the reverberation filled the ambient air so fully it was hard to have conversations with those around you. Even worse was after you retired to your tent. The constant echo of the heavy trucks bouncing and clanging across the bridge late at night and especially very early morning hours was so unwelcome and overbearing.

If you are in an RV, you probably have air or heat, TV or radio going so not as noticeable. There are plenty of beautiful trees throughout the property, but they do not help funnel the traffic noise in the camping area.

With all that said, beautiful little park. However, really think twice if you are considering camping.

Also, recommend an outside light under the stairs at the back door into the restroom/ laundry building. Walking toward the building when the moon is full is blinding and can cause an accident. Like it did me…walking into the dark steel I beam used for the stairs leading up to a cabin. Almost broke my glasses and left a bruise on my cheek. And no! Alcohol was not involved.

Another issue was having people walk their dogs for potty breaks right across the front of your campsite. Usually with no leashes, so it was distracting when you would have a dog with you. There should be either a designated area away from sight of the camp sites or move the camp sites back to the edge of the woods

Long story short…beautiful spot and grounds in a very convenient area. So if noise ( not just any noise but extremely loud noise) is an issue, tent camping is not recommended at this site at all.

But a more inconvenient problem was waiting for the men in RV’s to constantly use the 1 shower room. Even with full showers in RV’s, the men’s shower usually had a ‘waiting list’ in order for campers to be able to use the shower. Should be camping site showers only.

Again, beautiful location but comes with some real inconveniences...

We were not able to stay here thankfully because the owner Terry was so rude to me over the phone. I called a couple of days ago to inquire about a couple of tent sites since my son, who is an active duty Marine, will be home over the Labor Day weekend. He said he thought there were still plenty of sites but he was not there to check... could I call back later. I agreed. I called him this morning at 8:30 and he was rude on the phone and once again asked me if I could call him back at 9am when he got to the office... then he said, "Well, even better, can you wait and call at 10 or10:30 because it takes me awhile to get going after I get there." Okay, so not great customer service at all, but once again I thanked him and said I would call back. I waited and called at 11am this morning and when he found out we were going to be arriving near or after dark became very rude. He told me then maybe I shouldn't come because there was no way he was letting us in after dark and if we didn't think we could make it then we should just not stay with him or go elsewhere. So, Terry, that's what I did. We will be staying with one of your competitors whom I learned has better reviews than your place and knows a little something about customer service. He was happy we were choosing his place of business to support. So, thankfully, it has all worked out for the best. I will never try to stay with this outfitter again. He is rude, lacks any form of customer service skills, and apparently doesn't want...

Our overall experience was less than par... Advertising as a campground but when we primitive camp we are ridiculed for everything! (Made reservations with them knowing we were tent camping weeks in advance still gave us RV sites), upon arrival we were told to not place tents, chairs, or ice chests on the grass to stay on the gravel and concrete. Even though our tents weren't on the grass, but on the gravel and concrete we were asked to remove our vehicles to over flow parking because (in a 3rd world country it doesn't look classy) when none of them were touching the grass or out of our designated spots we paid for. We also paid the pet fee for 2 pets (no biggie) and after noticing many other dogs not leashed we decided to let ours off their runners to hang out by the river with us. We were then told to leash them when one of the men working had 2 dogs unleashed 2 spots over from us. I am very displeased, after having so many negative things come up during our 2 days stay I will not be returning. I finished my stay in a sour mood! From the 4 mothers who were TRYING to enjoy our Mother's Day weekend, Thank you for an experience we...

The people at Blue Heron Campground are some of the kindest and most caring individuals we’ve ever met. My daughter and I got our first camper at this campground, and Mike, the guy who runs the place, went above and beyond to help us. He showed us how to use a few things and even lent a hand when we needed it, which speaks volumes about the kind of people here. It's so rare to find that kind of genuine help in today’s world. While we were there, our beloved 8-9-year-old guinea pig passed away. Mike not only let us bury him at the campground but also went out of his way to make a cross for the grave. That level of compassion and care truly touched our hearts. There are so many more wonderful things I could say about this wonderful campground but I don't want to make the review too long I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful campground to anyone. The river is so beautiful. It was so peaceful here! I hope to visit again someday, and I wish nothing but the best for everyone there. Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion—it’s people like you who make the world a better place!

We have camped here twice already this year and just booked another trip. This is a well kept, beautiful campground. The river view and riverside RV sites have concrete pads, patios and chairs as well as fire pits and picnic tables. The boat ramp on site is very convenient and other public ramps are close by. Another plus is how close you are to Mountain Home and Cotter. As has been said Michael is the best as is Cheryl (I hope I remembered her name right)! They are knowledgeable about the area and helpful in every way during your stay! Just wish the main gravel drive into the campground could be asphalt!
