Rocking Chair Resort is the absolute perfect name for this little gem! Tucked away on a small peninsula of beautiful Norfork Lake, you instantly feel all the stress and anxiety life has packed on your shoulders fall away. I'm sure more than one person/couple/family drifted off into daydreams of staying there forever, letting time slip away, just rocking in a rocking chair on one of the many comfy decks/porches (hence the perfection in the name). Aside of the general atmosphere, great hiking (the resort sits almost right on top of two major hiking trails!), awesome fishing, and beautiful views, the hospitality goes absolutely above and beyond! Now, I'll get down to the brass tacks...the primary focus of this resort, and the area, is fishing. Don't expect flowing tapestries, crisp white linens, or the scent of lavender on the French countryside. You're not only at the wrong kind of resort, you're at the wrong part of the state entirely. As many from where I come from would say "You get what you get and you don't pitch a fit!" but it's more than I've seen at most AirBnB's I've been to at a much higher price point. And when in need, there's a small onsite store, Wal-Mart just down the road, and owner so kind she let us use cutlery from her own home. If you don't mistake yourself for a Kardashian, love the outdoors and meeting really good people, this is the place for you! And you'll want to return again and again. If your Louboutin's have never seen a speck of dirt, then you most definitely need to stick to paved sidewalks of the larger cities of Arkansas, which are quite...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the owners are super friendly and the family vibe extends to their guests.| If your looking for good hospitality then this is the perfect place to come.| They bend over backwards to make sure that your taken care of and we loved it.| The cabin, it felt like a shed when we walked in. There were literally 500 flies in the windows that we had to spend 2 hours killing.| The cabin is very dated but its not run down, you get the same vibe at other resorts around here so it's not out of the normal. | The shower is a struggle, I am chlosterphobic and it's tiny, we have the 3 bedroom 1 bathroom cabin.| The cleaning crew needs a few lessons, there were mouse droppings in the silverware drawer and cobwebs all over the ceiling. | My kids and wife aren't use to camping and if you come to this area it's like camping with Air Conditioning. So by day 3 they acclimated and everyone was happy.| The wifi is non existent unless your by the pool, a few wifi extenders would fix that. But if you have little ones who like Nintendo switch leave them at home.| Overall this is a friendly place to stay but don't expect miracles out from the lodging. Again, we stay at 4 and 5 star hotels and although I like to rough it I had to include both the good...
Read moreWhat a fun experience! We came down to participate in the David's Trail Endurance Run in January 2016. Rocking Chair Resort was the trailhead and base for the race, and all the after race festivities happened around the resort as well. The resort was easy to find and well laid out. We stayed in one of the condo units, #16. The resort is very pet friendly, and my dog was greeted warmly by all the staff. Our condo was great, very large and airy with a lot of natural light. The kitchen was well stocked and had modern appliances and all the items necessary for cooking up a feast. The living room had plenty of comfortable furniture and doors that led out to a nice, wide deck. There are two bedrooms, the master bedroom also has doors leading out to the deck. With central heat and air and lots of hot water in the bathrooms, our stay was very comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we are going back in just a few weeks! The access to David's Trail is just a short walk from the resort, it's so nice to get in a full day of hiking and exploring and then be able to go back to our room for a hot shower and soft bed! We recommend staying at Rocking...
