We’ve been visiting this property for over 10 years under the previous management (Carl and Regina) and never had a single issue. Unfortunately, our most recent experience under the new ownership left us very disappointed, and it’s likely this will be our last visit.
The cabins are comfortable, though a bit outdated, and the grounds are well maintained. The docks are clean, and the rental equipment is in good condition. Overall, the physical amenities continue to meet expectations.
However, we had a frustrating experience with the payment process. Our group rented both a house and a cabin, as well as a tritoon. We split the total among families, with one paying online and the others paying in cash at check-in, as required. We were informed that cash payments would help us avoid credit card fees and result in lower costs—for example, ice was quoted at $2.50 with cash versus $2.95 with card.
Upon arrival, all but one person paid in cash. The final party to arrive was told a refund was due to us because of the cash discount, and that it would be brought to us. Not only did we never receive that refund, but when we went to settle up for ice later, we were told we still owed over $1,000. After disputing the charges and a lengthy discussion, they eventually said they would “eat the cost,” which felt like an implication that we were being dishonest—a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience.
To make matters worse, when I paid for ice in cash, I was still charged the card rate. When I messaged to correct the overcharge, I was told it wouldn’t be refunded because they had “already absorbed other costs.” The overall handling of the situation—particularly by Sarah—was poor. She came across as unkind and unprofessional throughout the interaction. It’s also concerning that a business wouldn’t notice such a large discrepancy in their cash accounting until days later.
On a positive note, Scott was always kind and friendly during our stay, and we appreciated his professionalism.
Unfortunately, due to how this situation was handled, we will not...
Read moreTeal Point Resort is located on a less known lake, Norfolk Lake. The lake is very clean and clear. It seems much less crowded than better-known Missouri and Arkansas lakes. The resort is at the top and on the side of the hills surrounding the lake. The units are houses or a few duplexes, with nice decks. Many units have views of the lake, and those that do not have pleasant views of the surrounding forested hills. We found full kitchens in the units our family rented. It appears that each unit has a barbeque grill. There is a nice pool, play areas, a horseshoe pit, a shuffleboard court and a recreation room. The units and grounds are generally well maintained, and if there are maintenance concerns, the resort is responsive. There is a boat launch and two boat docks for boaters. The docks are down the hill and most people may want to drive down the hill to the docks. At the office is a small convenience store, but Mountain Home is a short drive and has a good assortment of restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses. One problem while there was that the internet was partially down, and when it was back up, it was weak and slow.||This was our first stay, and our family rented several units. Our family agreed reserved units for next year whenever we can make arrangements. We encountered other families that have been coming to this resort for many years. Because there are many returning people, reserving units for a large group during the summer high season is difficult. If wanting a pleasant, relaxing vacation, this resort appears to be...
Read moreMy husband and I had to have a 'clean' place to stay until we finished building our house which was about 6 weeks. We decided on Teal Point. We couldn't have made a better decision. Karl and Regina are the best hosts ever. When we would leave something for the cleaning ladies about a broken can opener or a light out in the refrigerator, by the time we got back from our day of labor, it was fixed. They were always available, it seems. I am very picky about cleanest and I didn't have to worry about it here. Even the grill was clean. Although, we didn't have much time to fish, the people that stayed there to rent the boats said they had good prices and the lake is a good fishing lake. The hike to the docks is a challenge, but it was good exercise on the two days that we decided to take a day off from building our vacation home. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The only thing is that the one bedroom is not a one bedroom. It is a studio, but still very nice. Don't hesitate to...
