First of all when it is 30s, maybe into the 20s at night it's very 'HARD TO TELL' anything. So 'COLD' for May 22, we probably wouldn't have made a reservation had we known the weather would be so 'unfriendly.' Another thing, for over $60 a weekend it's 'overpriced!' A friend who used to live up here recommended this place but I can't 'STAND' how 'MOST' campgrounds are 'taking ADVANTAGE' of either covid or Biden's wonderful inflation to 'jack up camping prices' like 'NEVER BEFORE!' It's 'highway ROBBERY!' Luckily we still are able to camp reasonably in national forests with our senior passes. Even without senior passes that is one area that gets an A+. Just as 'NICE' as here but even more private than here. Yet there probably aren't any in this area. I don't know.
There are probably the cleanest bathrooms of any place and I really 'DO LIKE THAT!' So the caretakers are doing their job. It's not their fault the weather was 'unfriendly' or someone 'ELSE' sets the prices, they just work here. But also the bathrooms were 'HEATED,' if we didn't have heat in our trailer I might have spent alot of my time in...
Read moreThe reservoir is chock full of birds (herons, loons, owls). My campsite was terrific -- just steps to the water, and no bugs to speak of. Staff was friendly and cooperative; could not say the same for many of my neighbors. There was not much peace and quiet to be had on the night I stayed, a Tuesday in July. Shrieking kids, grownups yelling at one another well into the night, and some nut who felt compelled to split wood well after the alleged quiet hour (10 PM)..
This was frustrating because the weather was perfect, the sky was full of stars, and the birds were calling to one another across the water. I would much rather have heard that instead of the needless racket all around me. May try again; this place is...
Read moreNever camped here, but a frequent fisher of this lake and familiar with the campground and facilities. This is first and foremost a pike lake. No walleye, crappie and sunny are present as well as some bass. You can catch LEGIT 30+" pike from the fishing or boat dock. Boating is challenging. There are unmarked logs and shoals. Boat with caution. Lake has an almost wilderness feel being mostly undeveloped. Best visited in spring or fall. Fishing is hot for large crappie and pike shallow early and in the deeper areas towards fall. Campground is wooded, sites private and relatively spacious. The entire region gets buggy by late may into June. Lake gets weedy and a bit gross by mid summer, then cleans up nicely...
