We have a pop-up camper and only needed a 30 amp electrical hook up. March 8 we booked campsite 97 and paid $20 For the lock site fee. Monday, June 19 when we arrived at 2 PM a man and a golf cart took us to site 97 which had a tent on it. He told us that the person staying in a tent only slept there at night and instructed us that it was OK to have our pop up camper on that site. This was very confusing because under your rules and regulations under tents, it states one tent or RV per site, and then gave the Michigan regulation R 325.1556. TENTS — You may setup only ONE tent, and only on designated sites. No tents are permitted on full hookup RV sites. One tent or RV per site (Michigan regulation R 325.1556 and R 325.1583). We were wondering, since we paid to lock in sight 97 why they would put a tent on it. We told the man on the golf cart that we wanted a campsite with nobody else on it. He checked at the front desk and said campsite 110B was open and we can put our pop-up camper on this site. So he led us to this site. We backed up our pop-up camper and was ready to set it up. He then pulled up and said we need to go to the front desk and find another site. So we drove over to the front desk to meet the woman to find us a new campsite and put us on campsite 116. You have a beautiful campground clean well kept up people are friendly and cooperative. We enjoyed our stay. What happened to us when we arrived on Monday and violating your tent rules did not make any sense to us. We would like to hear from one of the owners what happened and why would people at the front desk want us to put our pop-up camper where there’s a tent on that violated your tent rules? John Rutt

What a beautiful RV resort!! Nice wooded campsites with back-in and “pull-through” options, plus “buddy sites” so families and friends can face each other. They also have “premium” sites that include options like concrete/brick patios, paved sites, pergolas, BBQ grills, etc. The vast majority of sites are full hook-ups, and WiFi is available throughout the resort. What is also amazing is how quiet the park is. Even with families and dogs it’s very peaceful and relaxing. The vibe is contagious and all the neighbors are friendly and considerate. Very kid-friendly, including a large playground, a large heated swimming pool, plus volleyball, horseshoes, corn hole, basketball and pickleball courts. They also have a beautiful and well-stocked camp store, a coffee shop, and lots of ice and firewood for sale. A comfortable, clean laundry room and a fitness center are great amenities. And a HUGE dog park with lots of room for pups to run off-leash, chase balls and make friends! (Speaking of “off leash”, our English Cocker Spaniel puppy darted from our trailer this evening during dinner hour. Thanks to the owners and the “it takes a village” attitude, Maizey was corralled after a brief but intense getaway chase.!) Katie, Jonathan and Terrell are the owners/hosts and you’re treated like family from the first contact until they remind you to come back. Their wonderful team are friendly and hard working to keep the park and facilities in tip-top shape. This is our second stay, and we have already booked our stay for next year. A first-class staff delivering a first-class experience in a beautiful setting!!

CABINS - June 2023. We highly recommend Indian River RV Resort & Campground. Everything you read is correct. Friendly, clean, quiet and well run. Both novice campers and experienced campers will appreciate this campground.

Our kids split their time between the pool and the playground. The pool is lightly heated and felt great on an 85 degree June day. The playground included basketball, horseshoes, volleyball and pickle ball.

It was quiet at night.

CABIN: The two room cabin has electricity (bring a couple extension cords), heating and AC. There is a small fridge and microwave. I had no problem using my iPhone during our visit.

Awning screened windows allowed us to turn off the AC and enjoy the sounds of nature every night. We used the AC to cool off the warm cabin when we returned after each day’s adventure.

The cabin’s porch was great. It had a rocker, and a swing. We used the porch railing to dry our swim suits & towels. There’s an outdoor picnic table with each cabin.

The bedroom had a queen bed and a bunk bed for the kids. Mattresses were firm. There was a futon couch in the living room. Pro tip - we added the couch futon to our queen bed to give us old folks a more comfortable rest.

The fire pit was sparten and functioned well. We cooked dogs and s’mores a couple of nights. Fire wood was available at the camp store and delivered to the cabin.

The campground: The bathhouses were convenient to the cabin, extremely clean, had HOT water, were well lit.

The entire campground has plenty of shade from mature trees. The RV spaces were beautiful and spacious. There’s even a nature trail.

Cabin Tips: Bring camp chairs, an electric griddle, and a camp table (for indoor use).

The cabins are grouped. You could rent 2 or 3 for extended families or friends and all stay next to each other and gather around one campfire.

Things to Do: We made day trips to Petosky & Mackinac Island. I recommend biking the island on Mackinac and floating in tubes down the Sturgeon River (Big Bear Adventures) in Indian River.

Mim’s Mediterranean Food in Petosky was memorable as were our drinks on the patio of the Gatehouse Restaurant on Mackinac island.

FYI - Shepler’s Ferry in Mackinac City did not charge for parking and was a little less expensive than the...

It is not an exaggeration when I say I have been treated with more hospitality by the Border Patrol than by the management at Indian River RV Resort.

The management at Indian River RV Resort repeatedly misrepresented their policies regarding tents connected to an RV during phone conversations that took place prior to our stay. It was explicitly confirmed with the management in advance of our stay that our teardrop trailer combined with its connected tent function as a single recreational unit.

3 days into our stay we were rudely interrupted by Kathy. She demanded our tent be immediately removed from our site and relocated to a makeshift site across the campground and threatened police involvement if such actions were not taken immediately. She cited the rules and regulations which arbitrarily claimed this policy was forced upon the resort by a state law that dictated only one tent or one RV were allowed per campsite. This is a deliberate misrepresentation of the law. I have enclosed relevant policy recommendations from the state of Michigan which contradict Indian River’s statements.

Needless to say, my family of 5 was forcibly separated by the management at Indian River RV Resort and me and my siblings were forced to sleep alone at a site on the opposite side of the campground. Our repeated petitions for our family to be allowed to remain together were met with repeated hostility.

Indian River RV Resort does not care about your family, nor the safety of your children. They repeatedly and deliberately misrepresent their policies for personal gain. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU DISCUSS WITH THEM AHEAD OF TIME. They will lie through their teeth to secure the booking…and once they get your money they will treat you like a bad case of fleas. A nuisance. They will not treat you like a paying customer who is trying to spend quality time with their family.

Additional Cons: park smells like marijuana Bathrooms are not Handicap Accessible in any way place felt more like a retirement community and not an RV resort. Kathy made classist comments about our teardrop camper

Pros: -Ponch was very helpful and friendly -Jim kept the...

This campground has a traditional campground vibe. It’s not a concrete RV park and it’s not in thick woods and brush. It’s a perfect balance of mature trees and open sites. The sites are spacious, sandy, and almost level. The store has many items, but limited water options (no jugs, no spring water). The staff is extremely polite and professional. Every time we called in to the office and no one answered, they called us back within a few minutes. They delivered fire and ice to our site on multiple occasions and we didn’t wait even 10 minutes. The firewood is hardwood and high quality. There were many families camping on the grounds and we didn’t hear any partying or loud groups. There was a mix of big rigs, trailers, and pop-ups. Although the roads are single car-width, and there are many mature trees, we didn’t find it difficult to back our 32’ camper into our site. However, I would not recommend arriving when it’s dark. We like the coziness of a back-in site, but the pull-through sites were very nice and wide. Sometimes they are very narrow and not enough space for fire rings, etc. We would consider a pull through next time, and there are even buddy pull-through sites that looked very nice and spacious. The playground was an important feature for us, since we have a 2year old who loves to swing and go down slides, but the one negative was the playground was sandy. For toddlers, it wasn’t ideal. Mulch or synthetic surfacing would have been much more preferable. The hiking trail was great and our family loved it as we like going on walks together. Overall, I give this a 4.5/5. The playground sand and lack of water options at the store are really the only things we could possibly gripe about. We highly recommend this campground to other families and people who appreciate a traditional camping experience. We will...
