So if you want quiet, cold, and more quiet, come here in January. It's empty. But if your coming here to see wildlife your in for a huge letdown. They promote it but you can go through the bison prairie and your lucky if you see one animal. And these are basically caged animals with alot of land to roam and the drive will take 5 minutes. The south bison range has more animals but it's nothing spectacular. Their fenced in also. And the fallow deer that's around the Taylor campground are very few and far between. I saw three over the course of a week and that going there every morning in camo. Biggest herd is what they say on the website when promoting this place but I doubt if you'll see many because I here the firearms going off and all the animals are skittish. As far as the Turkey bay OHV area. It was closed the whole time we were here so I can't say much about it. I wouldn't come here in the summer because it's blazing hot with too many people and too much smoke. This is just my experience. But just on case you come here to photograph DONT!! There are so many better...
Read moreHuge horse camp! I've never been horse camping that you couldn't really see all the people that was there. You can look 360 and never see the same campers not to mention you can then venture off and find even more of the campground. It's huge! Lots of well-maintained trails. The only drawback, for some people I would suppose, is that the terrain is very Rocky. Not as in Boulders or steep or anything like that but softball-sized down to gravel size. There's not a whole lot of just dirt trails. I would very much like to go back but just make sure if you do go that you get shoes all around. There is one other thing. In the women's restroom in the handicap shower there is no place to put your clothes. There are three hooks up on the wall and there is a bench to sit in the shower but there is no bench to set your clothes on while you're taking a shower. Other than that the water pressure was good and the temperature was good and I just didn't have any problems with it. A great place for...
Read moreThis is such a nice campground. We stayed 4 days in the B loop and really enjoyed ourselves. This is primarily an equestrian campground with stables and tons of trails, but it's a great stay for normal campers as well. The sites are large and well kept with huge fire rings. There are 30a electric only, 30a full hookup and 50a electric sites available. There is a nice camp store with food and camping supplies. They even have an ice cream freezer. There are also several humming bird feeders right on the porch where you can hang out on the picnic tables and watch the acrobatics from a couple feet away.
The only downside was lack of internet, cell signal or analog TV. It looks like they have Wi-Fi equipment but I think it was down...
