Breaking Bad Meth Lab!!!
We checked in last night around 1030pm. The elevator had black mold on it. We entered the apartment with the initial impression of disappointment. I have stayed here many times before and have never seen an apartment look so worn with wear and tear. After laying on the beds to test their comfort level my friend went in to the kitchen and to our utter shock and horror found two used needles with blood on them in the silverware drawer. In the drawer next to that was a spoon with what we think was meth!!! Upon futher inspection there was dried blood all over the walls and floor! We immediately called the after hours number and spoke with Andrea who was very helpful and just as mortified as us. We texted her photos and she assigned us to another apartment immediately and told us to speak with the office staff in the morning.
We went in to the newly assigned apartment to find a dirty bedspread and stained and dirty blanket.
We went to the office in the morning and spoke with Kenya. Kenya is the least customer service oriented person at Myrtlewood Villa's. We told the situation to Kenya who did not appear to be that surprised. The other clerk (the friendly one) said that our room was supposed to be blocked because thats the one the police were dealing with so no one should have been assigned that apartment. Kenya said the manager would not be in until 11am. We left our number and asked for the manager to call us as soon as she got in. At 1:15pm we got a call from Stephanie. She was apologetic and offered a minor compensation for tje situation. I asked to speak with her manager (a guy named Ben), she said he was checking the pool and would have him call us as soon as he returned. It is now 4:40pm and no call from Ben. I am disgusted and disappointed in the manner in which this has been handled by the staff. If I was a property owner I would be mortified at the manner in which the management, "cleaning crew," and staff are taking care of your investment. This place has taken a nose dive and is treated more like a truck stop motel than a place to bring your family. Lets see if management ever bothers to follow up. The drug infested apartment was bldg 4701 apartment 204. I would post the pics if I could figure out how.
UPDATE 6 OCT- Ben never bothered to contact us. On day 3 of our stay Nicole contacted us and told us they felt the issue had been taken care of because they had moved us to another apartment (One with dirty blankets and bedspread).
If you choose to stay here bring your own clean linens or do what we did a go to Walmart and by a comforter set and cleaning products. The location is great; but, the cleanliness is haphazard just like the management. We had thought about buying a unit here, that idea has flown out the window based on the poor property management.
UPDATE 31 Oct: The above review was posted at the end of my hellacious stay. I had previously booked the following weekend with a few friends and did in fact adjust my stay from Friday-Monday to Saturday-Monday. The apartment we stayed in was very clean and nicely furnished. Unfortunately, the guests in the apartment above us hosted an all night party. Despite asking them multiple times to please keep the noise down it only caused them to amp up the noise. At 3:45am I called security and they moved the party from the back porch to downstairs out the front of our apartment. The management did call first thing in the morning an apologized for the party goers. The rest of our stay was great.
To respond to Nicole's message that was posted 27 days after our stay. The original messages were posted during the time we were staying there and were true to our circumstance at that time. The situation was rectified and compensated...
Read moreCheck in was ok the young girl jordan at the front desk was very respectful and professional. She was able to answer all my questions and check in was not too bad. However, she highlighted the wrong building number and of course the keys she provided did not fit and caused us to have to go back to the office to get it straightened out. When I told her the keys didn't work she became very nervous and did not know who to call. It was 10 pm after a 3 hour drive and we were wanting to get in our suite and get settled. As she was calling everybody under the sun to find out why the keys didnt work, in come my fiance pointing out the number on the keys were actually different from the building in which she sent us to. Then finally her light bulb went off and she realized what had happen. I could tell she was new so I gave her a pass but if your gonna work the late shift be consistent throughout the entire shift as people want the check in process to be as smooth and hassle free as possible. Don't rush and cause visitors an inconvenience because your ready to go home. Then she told me that I did not have 2 king beds as requested but what they call a swing bed. I was immediately disgusted and felt mis-lead She then stated if the so called swing beds weren't put together in my 2nd room then call her and she would come and take care of it. They were not and when I called as instructed, of course there was No answer. Myrtlewood maybe you should have experienced people work the late shift that pay attention and no the protocols to follow in case of a mishap. It's definently not fair to the new employee. Maybe have trainees work the day shift under the supervision of a manger. Although, the other girl who was there was very loud, not presentable, and using her place of work as a daycare, uggh. Was glad to deal with Jordan in that case. Myrtlewood maybe you may want to change the face of your front desk as I was turned off as soon as I walked in. Now my suite on the other hand was awesome. We stayed in the magnolia north complex and this particular owner knows how to make you feel right at home. Everything was clean, perfectly decorated, and very cozy. I'm very picky and big on cleanliness and I was really impressed. The kitchen had everything you could possibly think of and I like 2 prepare my own meals at home and on vacation so that was a big plus for me and did I mention how clean the suite was..lol. The bathrooms were fully stocked with towels and the king bed in the master was soooooo comfortable. Although, I brought my own sheets. The sheets provided seem to decent enough too sleep on. You could really tell the owner of this unit really maintains his or her property. The complex itself had great ammenties. Outside and indoor pool both very clean and maintained daily as I saw from the balcony. The volleyball court and cookout area was a plus too. The location itself is convenient and very close to major stores like Wal-Mart and so many places for dining and entertainment. My fiance and I were happy and felt very comfortable. The complex was very peaceful and quiet in the morning and at night. The only thing is that we had another couple with us and the two twin beds put together was such an insult as we expected to adult size king beds as I was told. It made me look so bad and pretty much ruined the trip for them as they are a married couple who had to sleep separately. How would u feel. To pay so much money for a weekend and can't even sleep comfortably with your significant other while on vacation it's horrible. If you say 2 king beds in a 2 bed 2 bath suite then be true to your word and honor it. Overall my fiance and I had great stay and will be booking there again. Thanks...
Read moreOnce I was no longer dealing with the night office staff, we had a great stay. The indoor pool/lazy River area was small but appropriately sized. There are several outdoor pools, and the grounds are immaculate. Each unit is independently owned, so each us differently decorated. Unfortunately, there is no requirement that the units offer Wi-Fi (my unit had it, but I overheard at the office the girl tell this to the people who checked in before me, she did give them a WiFi code from a nearby unit). The units come with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. Mine had two baths, a nice balcony, and a nice living room set up. The downfall was that it only had twin beds. The complex as a whole was an easy distance to the beach and other attractions. The 2 bedroom unit I had was very nice. However, there was a broken door in the closet (I informed the office at check , who said they would have it fixed). When we arrived, the dishes had not been removed from the dishwasher. Also, I found left-over vape type stuff in one of the drawers. This had me a little concerned about the level of cleaning that happened between guests. They demand at the desk a damage deposit ("insurance" policy), but this was not indicated in any of the booking process. They give you options, 2 of which the girl at the front desk readily admitted to me that it takes a month to receive your deposit back. The other option is to pay an additional $75 for the liability, which is non-refundable. The night staff at the office was adequate at best. I arrived late (10:30ish) after a long drive. I had called ahead to confirm my late arrival. When I got there, it was dark. I had two small children with me. After checking in, I was given a map of the complex, with my room x'd off. I drove around for 10 minutes looking for it, but could not find it. It turns out I drove the wrong way; the girl had told me to turn right out of the parking lot, but did not indicate which parking lot exit to use (and I did not realize there were two - turns out the complex is kitty-corner to the office, not as I assumed behind it on the same parcel of land as turning left from the s So I went to the desk. I explained that I was not sure where I was going. The girl curtly gave me directions. A young man, who clearly worked there, and arrived on a golf cart,Zenia and she started talking to him. I went back to my car, and tried again. This time I though I found it, but was unsure. The markings of the buildings and of each different road in the complex are not easily visible at night. So, I returned to the office. This time they had just locked the door for the night. I knocked on the door and explained to the young man who opened it and the girl at the desk, that I still could not find my unit. By this time the kids, upset and tired, were crying. The response I got was a very rude "the buildings are numbered". I said I did not see the numbers, I had been looking. He said "Well, you you didn't look close enough, the numbers are high up." To honest, at that point I myself got angry and dropped the room key. The guy picked it up and threw it at me, slamming the door in my face. I get that they were closing and wanting to go home. Heck, I just wanted to get the kids into bed, in the "hotel" I had pre-paid for. The young man had arrived on a golf-cart. How difficult would it have been to drive the golf cart and lead me to my room? I stood outside, flabbergasted, before driving back, and trying the rooms I hoped would be mine. The buildings are labeled, but not easy to see after dark. I did get into my room, but was very angry at the rudeness of the people working...
