We absolutely had an amazing stay and will be back again! Our unit wasn't directly on the ocean but it was close enough to enjoy the view and hear the waves. Our unit was 3 stories plus a loft! My husband and I stayed with our 2 teenage daughters. It was quiet, clean and had everything we needed and more! We stayed in unit 323. The bottom floor which includes the carport has a laundry area. The second floor has three bedrooms. A master with queen bed and deck and ocean view, attached bathroom with shower. Oh and a TV and DVD player. We brought along our Amazon Fire TV Stick and were able to plug it up since the tv does have an HDMI slot, a bedroom with two twin beds (we didn't end up using that one) had a nice ocean view from the window. And a bedroom with a queen bed which also had an ocean view. There was a second bathroom on this level with a jacuzzi tub which one of my daughters loved! The third floor is an open floor plan with living area with a tv and DVD player (also has hdmi slot!), gas fireplace, dining area, fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, etc, fridge with icemaker too! And another bathroom with a tub/shower. Also a lovely uncovered deck which is perfect for stargazing and had a great ocean view! Then there is the 4th floor which has a spiral staircase leading up to an open loft area with a bed - which is where one of my daughters chose to sleep and she loved it. It's far enough away from the main drag to be quiet and serene but close enough (5-10 mins) to be able to shop, dine out and explore the OBX! We can't wait to return - we had the best time!

An overall good rental space that is very family and pet friendly. Right near water with private beach access. Cozy space with friendly staff and fellow beach go'ers. Duplex Unit was "fair" overall.....comfortable living quarters but I suggest taking your own cleaning supplies(bathrooms needed a good cleaning upon arrival and there were cat droppings in the lowest entrance level, assuming left from previous renters🤔), but being pet friendly this did not bother me much with my cleaner in hand. Also, we learned the hard way, DO NOT WALK AROUND PICNIC TABLES/GRILLS/FIREPITS without some kind of shoes/sandles on!!!! There were several tiny jaggers that ended up in all our feet which was super painful, didn't seem to get caught in my dogs paws, but was not sure if we just got lucky, therefore we avoided these areas for "potty time". Overall I enjoyed this rental unit and would recommend, despite the issues previously mentioned, it was a value in price to be right at the beach......but if you are a clean freak or are expecting a luxurious updated location for your vacation, this is not the place for you.... if you enjoy cabin'ish "cozy" living right next to the beach this is Perfect for you!!!!!

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay here. We rented Dunes South through our time share with RCI. We we're scheduled to stay in unit 301 close to the road but we're upgraded to unit 313 beach front because it was off season and the occupancy was low. The staff were very helpful and the condo we stayed in was just right. The bottom level was just a vestibule and laundry area. The second level had a queen with a deck with an incredible view and an ensuite; a room with twin beds; and a third room with a queen bed. It also had a full bath with stability bars in the shower which worked well for my 88 year old mom. Upstairs there is a kitchen and great room with a large deck looking out at the beach over a small dune. There are spiral stairs to a small loft with a full bed which worked well for our 8 and 12 year old grandkids. It is enclosed but I would not recommend the loft for very young children. You are provided with a starter kit but do bring paper towels, to, laundry detergent, spices and cooking spray.

This place needs some improvements. In our condo the ceiling in the master bath is coming down, the wood on the door is stripped, the carpet is stained all throughout the condo, the flooring is coming up in the bathrooms and the kitchen, the walls have cracks, the moulding on the ceiling is separating from the wall. The condo was supposed to be clean but when we arrived we had to mop the floors ourselves and I wiped all the surfaces down with Clorox wipes. We also had to vacuum the carpet as it had food or something in it. The showers had hair in them. We've had better experiences with this place during previous vacations here. I mean i know it's just a vacation rental but that doesn't mean they should let the place go like this. We were disappointed this year and hope it's better next year. I doubt it will be though they have yet to do any repairs as our unit has been in this condition for several years now.

Update on my review: spoke with the owners and they are making updates and improvements in our unit so I am looking forward to seeing it in February 2020. The owners were nice and professional over the phone.

Update #2: The condo has had updates. My family and I were there in February 2020. There are still some minor repairs that were not done. (Such as the ceiling still peeling off and falling on my head while I take a shower) but overall the updates are nice. The housekeeping still leaves a lot to be desired..so be prepared to take your own cleaning supplies. We hope we'll be able to visit again in February 2021 but with covid and all we are still undecided.

Update review #3: Upon arrival the fireplace door was busted through. Completely useless. We could feel the cold air blowing in so we decided to try and close the flu. Surprise surpirse...there was no flu! It was as if somebody lit a fire and there was a small explosion from said fire. The wood around the fireplace was charred. There is not supposed to be any actual fires in the condos but I guess one of the guest didn't get the memo. Anywho we draped a towel on the remainder of the door to try and keep the cold wind and sand out. Sand still blew in around the fireplace, doors, and the skylight window in the living room. I had to vacuum daily. (I get that it's the beach and there's sand, but it did get a little excessive while we were indoors). I still recommend taking your own personal cleaning supplies. The floors definitely not cleaned. Our socks turned black. Dog hair was everywhere. Everywhere. We don't even own dogs. We did report the fireplace and was told they are ordering a new door but I'm not sure if they're going to fix the inside or not. They put electric logs in it but we unplugged them as we felt that wasn't very smart to use electric logs when the rain was coming in through the chimney. It's too bad. We really enjoy vacationing here. The outer banks is one of my most favorite places in the world. I just wish our condo was more kept up. Tons of childhood...

My family and I stayed at this resort a few weeks ago and will never return. The units are disgusting and it appeared that there was poop stains on the wall in the master bedroom. We had to buy cleaning supplies at the local food lion. The carpet was brittle and we had to wear shoes the entire time in the unit. The bathroom vanities also had little to no pressure for the water and were useless. Not to mention the mold that was clearly visible under the linoleum flooring in the bathroom.

During the entire trip our pets were in crates to avoid any messes.

During our trip we played tag basically and when I called conveniently only the emergency line worked and I was able to speak with Eric. I verified with him that I had two pets and that I knew of the fee. I went to the office as I told him I would and no one was there. Why do we have to spend the majority of our trip chasing people at this resort?

After we left they called us on a Monday and left a voicemail to call back on a Thursday. OMG I have a full time job and don't have time to continue playing these games. I didn't also care that they charged me the pet fee which I knew about. But today I received mail that they had charged me to clean their already dirty unit? What is that all about? I can't believe they would charge me to clean their already dirty unit when we left it cleaner than we had received it.

During our trip we placed over sized bed sheets on the dirty couches bc we didn't want to touch them. We never used the stove bc it was rusted throughout. The unit is very worn and is a total gut. Cold air and moisture is felt behind the wooden panels.

The grounds themselves are in shambles as another person stated. The tennis court looks abandoned and the grills are inoperable. Also beware of all the prickers that are on the grounds. Our poor dogs paws were pricked so many times, thank goodness we had tweezers as well as a local vet nearby.

They said why didn't we let them know... Well for starters nobody is ever in the office. We didn't know we were supposed to tell them what their units look like. The should have already known that. We left earlier than our checkout date bc we missed the comforts of home.

We will not be returning and already let RCI know about the horrible conditions. Don't waste your time or money to stay at something that looks like a bank...
