I recently stayed at this house in May. The grounds were lovely, the room was clean and Maria ( I think that was her name, the cook) was very nice and the only person who acknowledged our existence. The breakfast was just average.||||I was disappointed at the fact that they charged us $100 more for the holiday weekend and the place was empty ! And the fact that we actually arrived on the Monday (Memorial Day- late in the day) would mean that even if they had a full house for the holiday most of the guests would be leaving the day we arrived so why would we pay more? ||||In addition, we were expecting to at least be greeted by the owners, or at least have them pop in to say hello, how are you doing, is everything going well, do you need anything.. But not one communication was made. Only when we had an issue with the TV did Ed (owner) stop by to help and he didn’t even introduce himself at all (how rude). I guessed he was the owner and asked and he just said yes. The owners live on the property so it wasn't like they were miles away, they were right there but we didn’t see them ever. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I wanted these people to be bothering me all day long it's just at a B&B you expect a more homey environment, maybe someone stopping by to say good morning and to see if you have everything you need.||Even now after we’ve gone, not an e-mail or any note to say we hope you enjoyed your stay.||||I heard they are trying to sell the place so maybe they just don't care anymore but that is no excuse to not at least extend proper manners to their guests. Needless to say, I would not recommend this...
Read moreThe room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We weren't impressed with the onsite management. I text him (because that seemed to be his preference) to let him know my birthday was the next day and that we were driving to Napa for the wine train so we wouldn't be able to attend breakfast. No response. At one point, we locked ourselves out because the knobs are funky and my boyfriend went up to knock on his door and he just gave him a key and asked him to bring it back when we were done. When we hear bed and breakfast, we expect a level of service. The environment should be inviting and accommodating. If you're looking to be a loner then I'd say this is the place for you. Their interaction is very minimal. I never actually met the onsite guy. Also, driving up to the place the neighbor has a lot of junk laying around. So as you come down the street, in Calistoga, CA, you'll pass a really junky looking place, with car parts and debris in the yard and then turn exactly right after that. The actual grounds over look this neighbors vineyard and junk yard. All the way around, we expected more out of...
Read moreVilla Mimosa delivered on its promise of a peaceful, gentle place where we could chill out and enjoy quiet time. We loved having a glass of wine on the roof at night, watching the birds flying by, regular as clockwork, and enjoying the sunset. Outside our room (Palisades) was a great little deck, perfect for early morning yoga in front of the vines, and a picnic in the evening (Cal-Mart were super friendly and helpful with deli recommendations). With the fires raging in California it feels a little ungrateful to make suggestions, but we do so with the best of intent - we'd scrap the sliced bread in a plastic bag for breakfast and deliver the more gourmet offering people expect in Napa and make sure things like the broken hurricane lamps on the patio are replaced/mended. Once the fires are over and Napa is back in business we'd definitely recommend the villa to those seeking peace and quiet. The grounds are beautifully maintained and Maria is...
