Stayed 5 days on the Naples Beach side, with a site right on the water near the playground. The coastal site (#6) was great- it leads right out the beach, with a chunk of sand that amounts to a semi-private beach space. The water was clean and just the right temp. There are many boats moored in this area of the shore, but there's plenty of room between them to float and romp in the water.||||The site itself was large but not at all secluded. There is no buffer between neighbors and the dozens of cycling children and teens who circled the playground from dawn until 10pm. Privacy is non-existent on these sites in particular.||||The biggest issue with this campground, besides the lack of privacy, is a lack of oversight. There are a handful of "host" sites near the bathrooms, but I think the only task of the hosts is to clean the bathrooms and nothing else. Noise is a huge problem. During the morning, day, and into the night, we had kids flying around on their bikes with plastic bottles in their wheels making obnoxious grinding noises. Tolerable, as kids will be kids (but we forbade our kids from doing the same, as a lesson in consideration of others...). At night, our neighbors were intolerable, however. We had the drunks on one side hollering until 3am (even after we requested they quiet down around midnight). We had the neighbors on the other side with a 11pm dance party around the fire, until again, we needed to ask them to quiet down (3x). Music was pretty ubiquitous during quiet hours- some louder than others. The playground even remained a hub of activity well after dark and into quiet hours. We had 4 kids under 11 in a tent, and the noise was a stress factor we didn't need added on. We left a day earlier than planned.||||We've been to dozens of campgrounds all over New England over the years, and I've never seen so little oversight of quiet hours. No rounds, no warnings, nothing. I suppose it's a "you get what you pay for" situation. This is a good spot for a group of college kids, with the great beach, water sports, and lenient rule enforcement. It's probably also fine for those with campers/trailers to buffer the noise. It's terrible for tent-camping families who just want to chill by the fire, read books to the kids, and maybe have a conversation.||||But the bathrooms were...
Read moreWe just finished a road trip up to Baxter State Park and were on our way to the White Mountains, so we decided to stay overnight at Sebago Lake State Park Campground. It was off season when we stayed it was a random Wednesday night in October, so there weren't too many people there. There was only 1 area that you could camp, and it was in the Witch Cove Beach side. There were a lot of sections that you couldn't camp in. We loved that the camping area was right next to the water. I wish the sites were a little closer! By the time we arrived, all the prime locations were taken. It was ok though because it was really windy and it would have been hard to keep the fire maintained. The fire pit was awesome - more like a fire place. It had 3 sides, so it was easy to maintain. The bathrooms were close by and they were clean. Even though the campground is not fully staffed at the time, they definitely kept the campground clean. As we were packing our things to leave, we noticed how quickly the staff cleaned up the sites where others had left before us. They even raked the ground. My favorite part of camping here was the sound of the waves as we fell asleep. It was so peaceful (and normally I sleep with a white noise sound machine!!). Unfortunately we parked under some trees that every time the wind would blow, it would rain giant acorns. I kept putting my arms over my head every time because they'd fall like rocks. Our brand new truck got a bunch of dents in the tonneau cover and in the roof. All in all, it was a beautiful campground. I loved waking up and seeing the sunrise - it was so peaceful. I would definitely...
Read moreI give this campground a 3 star. Sites are way too close to each other, no privacy. Lots of screaming kids at 7:30am, partiers up until 10pm and a little after. We are pretty easy going people, not a lot bothers us but we are vacationing too. Control your kids screeching a bit more please... No one wants to hear that. I give our site 44 a 5 star. My husband and I have stayed in many of the Maine state campgrounds. We had not stayed here because we heard such horror stories. We decided to give it a last minute try and lucked out with our site. Our site was great. It was in our opinion the only site that had some privacy. Very crowded camp ground. Benefit it has its own private beach which was not over crowded like the beach at the day park at Sebago. We only live apprx and hour so it makes a nice weekend get away for the lake beach. We had no issues with campground staff & Rangers, they run this camp ground by the book no gray areas. Example of this-There was a wife trying to check in when we were and they would not let her in because the reservation was under husbands name. She indicated husband was a few hours behind her. They would not let her in. Apparently there was a previous incident like this. No exceptions. Just beware of this campground if you are looking for some privacy or a bit of quiet time.... this is not the...
