First, let me say the property is beautiful, house and surrounding grounds. My husband and I walked around the grounds one day-just beautiful. We spent some time on the upstairs balcony in the rocking chairs, too. Just lovely. The room we had was very large with the extremely high celings. The bathroom was very clean and they have some of the softest towels I have found in our travels. I am glad I had some extra soap in my luggage as there was only 1 very small bar in the bath. The rooms don't have their own thermostat though. A couple of nights I was a little warm but when I walked out in the hall the next morning it was very cool. The bed was lacking. I like soft beds and this one was very soft and my first thought was it would be perfect. However, it sagged a lot in the middle making it very uncomfortable. The next thing is there is no breakfast which is one of the main reasons we like to stay in B&Bs while traveling. All there was was a basket with a few pieces of fruit and a muffin wrapped in plastic wrap. I have had better snacks in an airbnb. I know some have mentioned Covid but in Mississippi and most every other place restrictions have been lifted. To use Covid as a reason now is only an excuse to not cook breakfast. We were there for 3 nights and on 2 of those days they hosted a buffet luncheon and a seated dinner. So, no, Covid is not the reason we didn't have breakfast. We were there for the pilgrimage and found out only by accident Brandon Hall was on the list as no one at the B&B told us and no one would tell us about the plantation except for one of the docents who was there after her tour who interpreted her 2 rooms for us. There is no host to speak of either. We saw and talked to one person twice and only after asking if he was the owner did we find out he was. Still don't know his name. The property is for sale and maybe that is why things are the way they are. The listing says they have a commercial kitchen so they have the capability of preparing breakfast. It's really too bad. It would be a fantastic place to come back to but we won't because of the problems...
Read moreA beautifully appointed old plantation home. Gloria, the owner, greeted us and was just lovely, making you feel like you have run into an old friend. She gave us a tour and explained the history of the mansion. The grounds and home are immaculate. Do check out the coffee table book in the parlor on old homes of Natchez. There is also a book on best homes of the South. I spent some downtime looking at these while relaxing in the parlor. We had the only bedroom located downstairs and overlooking the pond. It was spacious and even had a couch. We were served a fresh, filling breakfast and Gloria was able to sit and visit with us then as well. We were fortunate enough that we were the only guests for the night. I was also offered coffee while seated in the parlor before breakfast. Of note: my husband had told the owner he estimated we would arrive around 2. We went on a tour and did not get there until 3:30. The gate was open for our arrival, but all the doors were locked when we got to the home. I tried to call their phone number and it said "long distance access code needed." So we were unable to get through to anyone. We walked around the front porch, and luckily Gloria was in her office and saw us arrive. She unlocked the door and let us in. I let her know about not being able to call, and she did arrange to call AT&T to get this issue resolved. Also, we addressed that the check-in door was locked when we arrived, and she said she was expecting us earlier. Maybe a sign placed on the check-in door with her cell number listed would help in case guests cannot get in? Another issue was the bedroom was too hot. We stayed in late February. Our room was hot, but when you went across the hall to the parlor, it was cool. There is a fan in the room which helped, but a thermostat would be better. In the summer, it may not be comfortable. I realize this is an old home, but this kind of upgrade could really add to the...
Read moreI had my wedding at Brandon Hall in Natchez, Mississippi, and I can’t even begin to express how wonderful the experience was. From the moment we arrived, Ms. Gloria, Mr. Mike, and his wife Linda went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for.
Planning a wedding from Boston without being able to visit the venue until four months before the big day could’ve been stressful—but not with Brandon Hall. When we did finally visit, Gloria and Mr. Mike gave us a full tour of the property, and we were blown away. The grounds are absolutely stunning, full of charm and history, and the entire estate has a peaceful, timeless beauty that made it the perfect place to celebrate.
One of the things I appreciated most was the flexibility and space—we were able to have both our ceremony and reception on the same property, which made everything so seamless. The rooms inside the main house were spacious and elegant, and for those wanting a little more privacy, the cabins on-site were perfect. Our family had a wonderful time staying there.
Brandon Hall really is a one-stop shop—almost every part of the decor was customizable, which made it easy to bring our vision to life without stress. And Gloria, Mr. Mike, and Linda were just the kindest people to work with. They treated us like family and made every part of our stay feel warm and special. Gloria even went all out for breakfast, which was such a thoughtful and generous touch.
There’s something truly serene about Brandon Hall. Having the whole place to ourselves before and after the ceremony allowed us to slow down and enjoy the moment. It felt like a retreat in the best way possible. I can’t recommend this venue enough—it’s not just beautiful, it’s...
