West Hill View Motel — Hotel in Neligh

When my godfather passed we had to head north to say our goodbyes. Knowing that most family members in the area had their spare rooms full so we thought it best to find a motel. Trust me, that's not always easy to do in towns of 800 to 1500! There were a few choices, some better than others but the clincher was a reliable internet connection. My daughter goes to online school and she had no intention of missing any more time in class than absolutely necessary. The gentleman that I dealt with on the phone assured me they did, and the price was better than I expected. When we got to the room we were very impressed. The room was spotless. The furnishings may have been a little dated but they were well kept and very comfortable. The beds were great, with real blankets, not those weird little coverlets you get in some places. |Every time I talked to the guy running the place (I'm sorry, I can't remember his name) he called me by name and asked if we were happy and satisfied wit the room. He went out of his way to see that our stay was as good as could be. ||Is it a 5 star hotel? No. But it's definitely a place I would recommend to anyone. ||One tip. Customer service was great, location was great, room, no. Positives: the bed and pillows were unexpectedly comfortable, and the shower pressure was great. Towels were clean, and AC made it cool enough to sleep. Otherwise, it was incredibly musty, smelled like wet dog, when I got in the shower the floor was sticky and as soon as the water hit the tub it overwhelmingly smelled like dog pee. Like someone had allowed their dog to pee in there and then it wasn't cleaned. There were other indicators it hadn't been fully cleaned since the last person stayed there, like human hairs in the bed. But we were too tired from driving and they had just given their last room away, so we just slept...

The room was clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. We were in a bind after realizing our family member’s mental capacity had deteriorated significantly and we couldn’t stay with them as we had planned. We had traveled from south TX and were panicking but were relieved to find this gem. The owners were very helpful and accommodating and the prices were very reasonable. Our kids appreciated the Wi-Fi and the Roku TV. We only had one bed but there was plenty of room for an 11 year old and 14 year old to sleep on the floor with our 2 small dogs.
