Kool Lakes Family Campground — Hotel in Nelson Township

Please consider going anywhere else but Kool Lakes. Read the negative reviews. They are spot on. I had a seasonal site here for a total of 3 months. I paid $1100 for the remainder of the season. I put $500+ into the poorly maintained lot. I went to renew and pay for the 2021 season only to be advised I was unable to due to "many complaints" Hmmm incredibly strange because not ONCE was I advised of these so called complaints. I wrote an email to address the issue since the owners are never around and won't return calls. They failed to ever respond back to my email! Very unprofessional, overpriced for the lack of amenities, dirty trailer park feel with unfriendly seasonal campers to match. My neighbor was evicted my 2nd day there for going 7mph. It was her 1st season. My other neighbor would get drunk and let his small children build outrages fires, dogs run wild, the leash rule is not enforced, the bathrooms are unbearably dirty and the sheriff is called there weekly. Rules only apply to the newbies. Campers who have been there awhile are not expected to abide by the rules, especially quiet time. Overnight sites as well as seasonal sites are literally on top of one another. Only positive is the pleasant office ladies. Do your research, don't make the mistakes I did. Campsites are on top of each other with no privacy. This place was a last resort for us but we tried it out. When we saw our campsite which was literally right next to multiple groups, we didn’t even get out of the car and turned around. We asked if we could get a refund. If they said no, then we were gonna be fine with that and we would understand why. We’re standing in the office building and all of a sudden the owner comes in guns a blazing literally yelling at us. Keep in mind we were very respectful and nice when asking about the refund to the front desk lady. We had caused no trouble up to the point of the owner walking in. She had absolutely no right to speak to us in that manner. We walked out of there because she was pushing for a huge argument. It was ridiculous to see a grown woman who owns the establishment to speak to customers that way. I would not recommended this place to my worst enemy for multiple reasons.

They rented a site to my mother for the week , she was there a whole night with all of her stuff set up and a women with lighter blonde/brown hair on a golf cart came over and told us they are having an event tomorrow and that her site was already spoken for even though they just rented her the site YESTERDAY. Now they are making her move all her stuff to the back of the campground. What an inconvenience and I really think the communication between employees should be better so their guests aren’t inconvenienced. Not a very good look, screams the park doesn’t have it together. Bad bad move on managements part. Definitely wont be getting my business again. You pay for this kind of stuff to have a good time, to have less stress, to take a breather with the ones you love and to be so inconvenienced after already being all set up at a site is just ridiculous . Have communication, don’t inconvenience...
