2025** Well I hate to drop the review level but while the lady who was here Friday was great there are several new issues. Honestly I only rate this place as high as I have because it is a training / learning facility.
The door to the room after unlocking required a very hard shove to open (again making this feel like a $30/ night motel) In 2022 I only stayed a single night. This time two. They didn’t bother to clean the room or restock it between nights. Air Conditioner leaked into the room. Second night the AC decided to be really loud all night. Fire alarm flashed brightly all night in the room. Bed still sucks just like before. Breakfast was ok but mix for waffles was too thick and took minutes for pouring a single waffle. Staff argued all the guests were wrong. Not learning very well. See video…. But the response from the desk is it is full. lol. Attached photo of the staff / student who was the largest of the issues. Have to ask staff for ice as they decided to hide the ice machine where we are not allowed to go. Spa advertised on the site is not open. And the place is $140 a night plus tax.
It has to give somewhere.
2022**5 star I am giving this a five star review because they had rooms, the price compared to the very few other places that had rooms wasn’t bad (though high), and the staff was nice.
They are still working on the remodel that I understand has been happening most of the year.
There are zero drawers in the room if this matters to you.
The bed is very soft. In our opinion way too soft for a great night of sleep.
But all was clean and all worked. And it was as the photos and...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay here very much specifically the modernity of the rooms and building and the fact that this is an invaluable way for Hocking college students to gain hospitality experience. Some things that need serious improvement and would cause me to stay elsewhere next time include the lack of food options for breakfast! At this price point there needs to be a decent hot breakfast that could include at the bare minimum basic things like eggs and potatoes-providing a good savory option and protein to start our day. The sugary fast food options that constitute breakfast right now are inadequate and unacceptable. Please implement this change immediately especially on weekends to start to rollout. This provides invaluable practice for the students of the culinary component of hospitality as well. Perhaps some whole wheat scones with yummy butter as a grab and go. Work with local businesses and catering to provide great options: maybe give a little upcharge for those who want a full breakfast! As a foodie and great chef, it is hard for me to stay anywhere anymore that does not provide decent, nutritious, substantial food options. My other huge concern is the cleanliness of the floors in the rooms. I asked for my floor to be mopped and it was still disgusting and gross and grimey even after it had been "mopped". Please train the students how to properly clean a room with hot soapy water so that when a towel is ran across it, it is actually...
Read moreYou walk into the lobby and are greeted happily by the staff as well as the adorable front desk dog who greets you with excitement (her name is Nova!). The bar and surrounding areas are extremely clean and well maintained/organized. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. The views are incredible and the rooms are beautiful with a lot of the woodwork coming from the hocking college students themselves! The bar also has beer on tap that had been made by the students just a few feet away which is incredible. (The IPA is beautifully crafted!) The fireplace, comfy couches and atmosphere in the lobby is so cozy that you don’t want to leave! The patio out back is incredible as well! The way the sun hits the whole lodge is magical and the GM has so much love for the lodge which you can see in every detail right down to the hand towels that are darker in color so you can get makeup off and not feel like you stained the towel. (Which I’ve done many times at other hotels) The sinks are glass leaves and I’m obsessed with them! With the bar being open to the public as well this lodge really is a hidden gem that you just have to come see for yourself! Lastly the spa is just breathtaking and so relaxing!
The bar is open Thursday-Saturday from 5pm-2am unless they’re not busy in which case they close the bar down early but are normally very open to grabbing you a drink if you’re wanting one within normal bar hours!
You feel at home at the lodge, so come on in...
