Don't even think about it. I reserved 4 spaces for a group in June. I was disappointed to find that the pool was quite a hike from the campgrounds. The lake was muddy, not something I would want to swim in or use, and smelled. the up side is that the restrooms were convienient to our sites and the laudry was right there too. But thats all the upside I can say. We like the use of a pool where ever we stop, and this place has a decent pool area, but heres the problem, it was invaded by lowlifes who wouldn't control their children and a staff that would not do anything about it. Here is what I mean, weekend comes and here comes the local lowlifes from the surrounding area, drugs alcohol in use, and filthy language at the pool with children all over. The kids and even the parents were lining up in 5s and doing running jumps into the pool. ||splashing people in the pool with NO consideration for others who want to just float and relax. also the pool rules say no dogs in the pool area. And there were two of them there.|| So after waiting to use the pool hopeing these degenerates would leave, they didn't so I called the office and said there are people jumping and splashing in the pool, is that allowed? and shes says no I will send someone down. So I waited and no one that I saw came. Then I go down to the office in person and tell them that no one came, and she says I came down and stood by the fence for at least 5 minutes and no one jumped in the pool. I said you have got to be kidding they are jumping in in groups of 5, so she said I will come down again, so I see her come down again and she obviously sees me and kids and parents jumping in, so after telling me theres no jumping into the pool she says well they can jump in the pool they just cant dive into the pool. Im like what you said they can't jump. So I told her what about the pets in the pool area she didn't even bother saying or doing a thing about that either. Also this same person was in the office and I went in to buy ice cream so I pick out an ice cream and the sign says 1.50 go up to pay and she says that will be 2 dollars I say the sign says 1.50 she says thank you for letting me know that its 2.00. Now if a price changes but you leave the sign up that shows the old price, the right thing to do is sell that Item for the old price and then change the sign. But not this moron who doesn't know how to offer good customer service. And lastely we went to the restaurant there in the center where the office is. Another big mistake, it was expensive and lousy. They offered a salad bar from hell, I got a muffin that was like a glue ball, and the fish had to be frozen from a box and it was 15.00. Unless you want to hang out with the other lowlifes, great. But if your a decent person who wants to be treated well and be in the company of other nice decent people stay away go somewhere else. They obviously cater to trash because thats all that...
Read moreSo, let me start off by saying that we have camped at Lake Francis in years past and always had a good experience. This trip just left me shaking my head. On the email it said that check in was at 4 pm so we ended up going to Oregon Creek for the day. We thought that the office closed at 6, so we tried to check in at 5:30 to find that the office closed at 5pm. Seriously 5pm in the summer? People get off work at 5pm. We just drove to our camp site and set up for the night. We were in the more private camp site A25 on the right side of the resort. I go to the restroom and there a sign that says "out of order- use the nearest restroom." Seriously, the only bathroom anywhere around is out of order? I go check it out and the only thing wrong is a broken door handle which was a pretty easy fix. The next morning I go to check in and let the lady know I tried to check in last night and they were closed. She said "yeah, that happens a lot around here." Well then be open later especially in the summer! I tried to rent canoes only to be told they are only open on weekends. Also, no restaurant and no ice cream either. Each night there are many campers in the pool and on the fields. You can't swim when the campers are in the pool. There were like 5 broken chairs just waiting for someone to sit on them and fall down. We tried to check out a soccer ball and was told we couldn't because they were for campers. None of the employees acknowledged us even though we were there each night swimming, charging out cell phones, and using the fields to get some exercise. Honestly, I felt like the only thing Lake Francis cares about during the weekdays are the Rockin U Campers because they pay $550 a week to camp there! We only went one day down to the water because there was hardly any shade due to removing 6 large trees, the water was murky, stinky, and the dock was full of duck poop! Oh yeah and they were renting out canoes only to the campers though. I forgot to mention that we tried to exit a way we did in years past only to realize that there was a downed tree. It was very hard to turn around and there was no sign warning us that the road was not a through road. They say curfew is at 10 pm, but there were plenty of campers above us laughing at all hours of the night and some annoying bird sounds all night. I didn't get much sleep at all. From Tuesday- Friday we only saw one employee drive by and didn't ask us anything, check on the bathroom, or even pick up the trash bags.| With all the disappointment we tried to make the best experience for our kids and did enjoy our camp spot and the fact that no one was next to us. The reason we picked Lake Francis was because it was less than 1 hour from our house and we could get a nice campsite on a weekday, but $70 a night is too steep, and we won't be camping at Lake Francis again. I hope changes can be made to improve Lake Francis and bring it back to the fun place we remember...
