We have eaten here twice before, on the way up to ski resorts, and enjoyed breakfast both times. We looked at reviews carefully before deciding to stay overnight because we value our sleep and travel with a 2 year old (and older child) can make that difficult. ||||Basically, if you are expecting luxury accommodations at this budget price you are probably going to be quite disappointed. But if you want a quiet, clean and comfortable place to stay with a helpful staff this is the place for you. ||||The main worry that we had was whether the family room (3 separate rooms with king, 2 twin, and pull out couch!) would be warm enough with the electric wall heaters with an overnight low of 20f. Our 2 year old needs the room temp to be fairly consistent and warm overnight otherwise he'll get very uncomfortable. We brought our own electric space heater just in case and turned on all heaters & closed the blinds when we arrived 4pm. After dinner we noted that it was quite toasty, even though it was already 25 degrees outside. We lowered the heaters and had a very comfortable warm night with no wake-ups. ||||It happens that there was much more snow than predicted that night, and huge quantities had fallen off the roof in the front of the parking lot. We've been at a lot of Tahoe hotels after a snow, and the response to getting your car out can be slow and require shoveling on your part. Not here! When I went out around 8:30 to clean off the car they were already done with snow blowing pathways and behind all the cars. There was about a foot of snow on my car and as I was wiping it off and scraping the windows 3 different staff members came by and helped! ||||The king and twin beds were very comfortable. I will note that the pull out couch was very thin and would not be comfortable for an adult, however it was perfectly fine for a child. The bathroom was clean and the bathtub was very nice and deep with plenty of hot water. ||||We have enjoyed the restaurant. They offer good 'comfort' food selections and healthy items. Everyone in the family found something to enjoy. The biggest con is that the food does take a while to come out, so consider bringing some books or toys for kids and leave enough...
Read moreGreat service all around--thank you so much! From the moment you step foot on the property, all staff are exceptionally helpful and courteous. We were most grateful for the extra space heater that they provided us with to keep the room a bit warmer--it helped immensely. The only feedback where they need immediate improvement is that the room we stayed in (room JP) did not have any carpet at all, no heating source other than a very small wall unit, and did not have a single hook to hang anything up (ex. towels/wet clothes, etc.)--not one--nor did the room come with a closet of any kind. The bathroom had one towel ring for a hand towel, but that was it. We had to make do with using the two chairs and door hinges to hang all of our wet snow gear--it was a little crazy, but for two nights only, it was manageable. In addition, the room had two bunks beds. The bunks are not standard bunk beds that the average person is accustomed to. The bottom bunk is situated very close to the top bunk where you will absolutely bump your head if you are not careful. Our average height 13-year-old son slept on the bottom bunk and our 15-year-old son slept on the top. They also agreed that the beds are very narrow compared to traditional twin-size bunk beds. Again, I would not recommend staying in this room for longer than two nights. In addition, I'll note that the onsite restaurant, the Rustic Table, was very convenient and provided excellent family/comfort food for a variety of different palates. They offered a wide menu selection coupled again with great service from everyone we encountered. Coffee drinks were delicious as many have noted. We were very grateful that they were there so we could literally eat 90% of our meals on-site and never had to leave the property unless we wanted to. This was a huge perk! Overall, we would definitely stay at the Sierra Woods Lodge again--but not in room JP in the winter, unless they make some of the improvements to the room. It appears that the other rooms might be a bit more suitable and less "rustic" for a family. For a two-night stay, we made it work and enjoyed our time there very much....
Read more7 days a week is how often I used to go to The Rustic Table !!!
Snowy landscapes in the winter time amongst pine trees and an awesome fire Burger with a small plate of tomato basil penne pasta was what I enjoyed while I AT , The Rustic TABLE. The staff and the waiters were very kind and very good at their jobs. I'm usually very critical of good food but this place has very AMAZING good food. Especially their burgers and pastas I would go for the fire Burger which is my favorite along with extra crispy fries if you let them know are super good. There are a lot of good burger places with this place makes burgers and no one seems to know or have put them on the map for but they very much should be popularized for and everybody should know this place has very special burgers. I happen to know what they put in their seasoning but I can't share it with the public I'm pretty good friends with the staff and waiters, once upon a time when I used to roll through that area. If I'm looking for a nice place to eat and a beautiful Tahoe national Forest and I'm on my way to Reno or coming from Reno to Sacramento definitely stopping this place especially if you're hungry between those two destinations because there's no better place to eat then The Rustic Table and there's no prettier place to eat , at of all the places I've eaten, this place is awesome and it's scenery while you eat. Not to mention everything else on their menu is very good. They also have some cool hiking spots up and around the area so if you want to enjoy good meal and a good hike , or just want to know of a good spot to eat and you're a high critic a good food like me then check out The Rustic table over an EMIGRANT GAP , CA between Auburn and Truckee California. Hello to all my friends who run the place from. ----. ----Love Your Friend , ----- Taylor
P.s Don't forget to give the waiters a hard time on their job and really test their kindness levels by ordering milkshakes for the whole family , they will be sure to make them good , and probably be a little stressed out because they make them by...
