Full disclosure: I viewed a room and attempted to book it for a week, but ultimately didn’t. I still think it’s a relevant review. So the showing/booking was handled by a “tenant” of the motel since the owner was away. I took a look at the room and let this gentleman know I wanted to rent it, to which he remarked that I have a really nice car so am probably trustworthy. Once in the office, he said he could get me into a room on the spot for $300/wk, and began to go through a list of fees I was required to pay. I truly couldn’t understand most of what he was saying, because his voice kept going from very soft to normal, and because he never finished explaining one thing before moving onto the next, and then circling back to the first. I was pretty uncomfortable at this point, and just wanted to pay and get my key. I told him I was happy to pay the advertised price immediately, and took my wallet out. He asked what I thought the price was (“because people have heard different things”). I told him, and he insisted I use my phone to show him both the Craigslist ad - AND the motel’s website - because he’d never looked at either. I did, and then he looked at me and said “goodbye.” I was confused and asked what he meant. He then began repeating “goodbye go somewhere else goodbye go somewhere else goodbye go somewhere else” over and over until I backed out of the room and left.I won’t speculate as to what caused such bizarre behavior, but I did not feel safe. It appears that the motel may now be catering exclusively to the type of folks who require long term anonymous housing and low weekly payments. It is 100% not child or single female friendly, and I would consider that gentleman’s instability to be a safety risk. Remember, he apparently lives there so will likely be present when you go to book a room. Please be careful folks.Edit, in response to the owner: I think it’s actually quite important to go into details about the conversation I had with your “kind helper” and would be happy to answer any questions you have about the interaction. His behavior absolutely represents a safety concern, as he’s shown himself to be unpredictable and without self control. The fact that you feel he is a “kind helper” doesn’t speak well of your personal judgment either, which just...
Read moreThe best place to stay if you are visiting Jiminy Peak (in my humble opinion). It's about 7 minutes drive away, and has more character (and costs less) than any other option during our visit (Jan 2023). The other options are large chains (consistent but more expensive) or independent properties that were inexpensive, but didn't seem super-clean based on what I read online (therefore, it must be true, right :). The Springs is a recently renovated Motel, and they did a great job of preserving the touches that make a (restored) vintage 1960s(?) Motel great (cool vintage tile in the bathrooms and neat architectural elements, for example), yet with modern conveniences (nice split-level Heating/AC units that kept the room nice and toasty, and a cool little minifridge with retro styling). The new door locks were great--and automatically close the deadbolt a short time after you close the door (great for security - we have all wondered "did I lock the door" at some point :). The in-room coffee makers looked well-made and were very clean (always a good indicator, in my opinion, if a place is cleaned well) and they have a coffee blend made just for the motel. Sheets, mattresses and blankets were soft and comfy. In the summer and spring/fall it looks like they activate the lawn and lobby with fire pits, pool and a bar. What makes this place great is that it is a renovated, cool-looking Motel, not a new-built chain hotel (which some may prefer) - for instance, the bathrooms are largely original in our room (but with some new items, such as a toilet. Some small parts of the room that were original to the hotel showed some wear, but this is to be expected. All the "important" parts of the room were updated (anything you sit in, stand on, sleep on, drink coffee from, etc.). Service was very good--the person checking us in was very nice and helpful, and turned up the heating in the room (it was a very chilly night) so that when we arrived, the room was toasty. Kudos to the person/people who put...
Read moreLooks are deceiving.. Check out and in was very confusing you have to call someone..there isn’t somewhere to greet you as you check out. No one asked us about our stay or tried to rectify the issues with not having a TV.etc.. The lobby was locked not able to access it as it says on their website. Outside area where there was suppose to be a bar was not open no lights on at night in that area. The only amenities was the pool and sleeping. A sat rate on their website for the same room was $160 but we were charged ~$270 by Priceline. Missing outlet covers Walls have a lot of wear and tear Carbon monoxide detector was placed under one of the beds..at least I think that’s what it was Stains on the carpet No microwave No where to put your clothing no drawers or a closet Hole in the bathroom wall by the vanity light No hand soap Black or brown hand towels, wash cloth bath towels that rinsed out with brown or black dye when you used them Bathroom towels had strings hanging from them There isn’t a phone in the room. Painters tape around the bathroom door Waited for a tv remote that we were told would be in our room after dinner and then had to call to get the remote the remote was brought to us but it was broken and the tv was never set up No walkway to get to your room you have to walk across grass Motel poorly lit so it is very difficult to see at night Bathroom Doorway tile has a large crack where by the door way. This room was not worth $270/night. I believe strongly in supporting small businesses but my stay at this establishment made me feel used and misguided. The photos on Priceline and on the hotel’s site displays a very different reality of what you will experience once there. I will never come back to this...
