We were booked to stay here two nights. We came home early from the beach so our kids could play in the pool which was advertised as closing at 6. We put our suits on and walked over to the pool just as a staff member was turning off the splash pad and locking the gate. I asked if the pool was closed, and the staff member said "Yes, the pool closes at 6." I assumed we had misjudged the time and took my two crying kids and baby back to the campsite. When I arrived back, I checked my watch and saw that it was only 5:35. My husband went back to the pool where the staff member was sitting in a golf cart. My husband asked again if the pool was closed, and the staff member repeated, "The pool closes at 6." My husband said, "But it's 5:40 now. So the pool is open." The staff member said, "Well you would only have 15 minutes to swim." "So the pool IS open then?" My husband repeated. "No, the pool is closed," the staff member finally said.

If my kids had been able to swim just thirty minutes that would have made their day, and we would have happily gotten out of the pool at 6. If we had arrived after 6, it would have been our own fault, and we would have simply stayed the night to play in the pool before we left the next morning. But if the pool hours are whenever a staff member feels like opening and closing the pool, then there was no point in trying to swim the next day. We decided to check out early and start heading home. We went by the front office before we left, and we told the office staff that we were leaving because the pool had closed early. The office staff said, "I wish you had told a staff memeber so we could have opened the pool for you before 6." We said that we DID tell a staff member, and he made it clear that he would not be opening the pool for us. I don't know if this is an issue with a single staff member or a campground wide problem, but closing the pool thirty minutes early right as a mom and three kids in swimsuits are arriving is not the kind of behavior you expect at a campground geared...

After four years of full-time RV life, we've experienced a wide range of campgrounds, but few places have felt as welcoming, well-run, and memorable as New Bern KOA Holiday. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this campground is something special. The grounds are immaculately maintained, with spacious sites, clean facilities, and beautiful views of the Neuse River. Families thrive here whether it's kids riding bikes under the pines, neighbors gathering around evening campfires, or peaceful mornings spent by the water. There's a sense of calm and comfort here that's hard to find.

At the heart of it all is the incredible management family: Chino, Leni, and children. Their warmth, dedication, and hands-on care shape every aspect of the guest experience. They're always present, always helpful, and clearly love what they do. It's no surprise they've earned the admiration of both local residents and travelers alike.

And we've also seen the rare occasions when guests forget that camping is a shared experience. During our stay, there were a few individuals who didn't quite align with the peaceful, family-oriented vibe this KOA is known for and exhibited reckless golf cart behavior and loud, inappropriate conduct that could've posed a concern. What impressed us most was how quietly and professionally management handled it. There was no drama, no disruption just calm, steady leadership that ensured everyone's safety without compromising the welcoming spirit of the campground.

We've made wonderful memories here, and it's clear this KOA is more than just a place to park, it's a true community. If you're looking for a clean, safe, and family-friendly place to stay, you won't find it better than the New Bern KOA Holiday.

We can't say enough good things about our stay at the New Bern KOA. Our whole group had a very pleasant stay. We even extended to stay an extra night. Our family stayed at a campsite and the rest of our group was split to 2 different types of cabins. From the moment we pulled in, it was clear this campground is something special. The staff greeted us like old friends, and their warmth never wavered throughout our visit. Every team member went above and beyond to make us feel truly at home. The entire campground was spotless. Bathrooms and showers were pristine, and the grounds were beautifully maintained. You can tell they take pride in every detail. Whether you're traveling solo, with kids, or as a couple, there's something for everyone. From kayaks and fishing to the pool and crafts, the activities were thoughtful and fun—perfect for making memories. What truly sets New Bern KOA apart is their incredible support for hurricane evacuees. We were among those seeking refuge during a storm, and the staff welcomed us with open arms. They were flexible, understanding, and went out of their way to ensure everyone felt safe and cared for. It wasn’t just a campground, it was a haven. The sense of community here is unmatched. Fellow campers were friendly, and the environment was peaceful and uplifting. It’s the kind of place that restores your spirit. If you're looking for a campground that blends comfort, cleanliness, and genuine compassion, New Bern KOA is it. We’re already planning our return and next time, it’ll be for pure relaxation,...

I took my young son there for a weekend. I was planning on doing some tent camping and bringing my German Shepherd. The KOA reservation center told me that dogs were allowed in the tent camping area. This turned out to be false. I contacted these site directly by phone to verify. And they stated that dogs were not allowed in the tent camping sites. After checking with my local kennel and finding out that there was no boarding room available. I called back KOA in New Bern and sprung for an upgrade to a private deluxe 4 man cabin lol. Dogs are allowed in the cabin and RV areas. It was a lot more than I planned on spending, but it was a weekend that we both will remember. The facility itself is very clean and everything is practically brand new. This area got hit by a hurricane about a year ago. The entire site had to be built back up from scratch basically everything from the registration office, the pool, to the gravel on the roads. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we needed. Nice patio outside with a Weber grill, and brand new patio furniture. It also had a fire pit built into the patio. Plenty to do at the site, and New Bern is about ten minutes away. Over the years downtown has become very touristy. So we spent an afternoon checking it out. All three of us had a great time!

To begin, I was with a group of about 20 women., Sisters On The Fly. Our event weekend was beginning on Thursday Sep 26. I phoned in Wed Sep 25, about an hour before closing. I left a voicemail saying that…I can’t find my reservation email. I get a call back within minutes from Anita, (absolute doll) she was so kind, however did let me know, that I didn’t see one, because I didn’t ever book one… ugh! She stayed on the phone until she found me a spot to book, and near a bath house mind you, because I had issues with my water….Jan checked me in, (very kind), Chino was knowledgeable & informative about the infrastructure & status of the high river when I expressed concerns about the storm coming. Meagan answered all of my questions (with a smile) when I popped in to the office. Everyone really made it feel like home away from home. When I return to our neighborhood and talk with other camping friends, it will take very little convincing, to bring another group back. The bath house was cleaned regularly, and the park was tidy. This campground is fantastic in so many regards, but it will always boil down to what was the best thing you remember…..how you were treated as a guest!

Absolute delight. Got a camping cabin for 6. It was a two room cabin with 2 sets of bunks and a little table with 3 barstools in one room and another little table with 3 barstools, a full size bed, a tv and a mini fridge in another room. A little front porch with a swing bench, a fire pit with picnic table and a charcoal grill stand overlooking a little pond. Campground was very neat and clean. Never had an issue with the bathrooms. Bathrooms even were climate controlled. Lots of little thoughtful touches here and there. There is a jump pad, playground, basketball hoop with ball, seasonal pool all in one area. Then there is another area with lawn games such as giant chess, giant checkers, horse shoes, connect 4 and corn hole. Two little dog parks as well. There is a dock/fishing pier on the river and I believe they do seasonal paddle boat rentals and kayaks too. Definitely a great family friendly stop. Customer service was splendid. They accommodated us with a late check out for a small fee as we had car problems and were waiting for the car to be fixed. Would recommend this place! Looking forward to coming again!
