Reelfoot Lake Inn — Hotel in New Madrid

I made a last minute run to Reelfoot to visit some friends who had gathered for a few days of hunting. I didn't want to sleep on the couch, be up at 4am, nor did I want to keep them up while i pounded through email so I needed somewhere to stay for a night. Various searches produced few options for a late arrival for a single night so I took my chances on this place. Hoping the last comments regarding a new family buying the property in September 2020 and a resulting clean up were accurate, I drove in at about 10:30pm to get a room. Total price ~$62 for king bed.||||Let me be candid - What I needed was a reasonably well lit room, with CLEAN bed, CLEAN bath and hotwater. I pulled back the sheets and inspected them and the mattress pretty close. All good! The clean + hot water is what I got, but not much more - though the TV was a nice flat screen with seemingly good cable (I only flipped through for 5 minutes). Wifi is too slow for everything - even receiving email with attachments, but the cellular signal was fine. Tile floors are cold, one wall had lots of spackle spots showing the owner was still repairing the room. I heard every step of the gent occupying the room above, but turning my phone into a background noise maker was enough to block out 70% of the noise. The bathroom fixtures were pretty used and with the exception of the TV and mini refridge this is a NO FRILLS as it gets. If you need more than a bar of soap and towel, then bring your own.||||Bottom line : My single night experience represents only one room, but the brief convo with the owner at check out verified my perception that he and the family are working on the place and making progress. I don't perceive he was very strategic in putting me in a room under an occupied room (he tried to call me about 5 minutes later to move me - but my phone was on silent), so let him know what you desire. I stayed here for a 2nd time over the Weekend. The 1st time was In 2020. This time I brought a Dog. The Owner (or check in Mgr) was Very polite and accomodating when I told him about the dog. Pet fee was quite reasonable. They will however put you in a Smoking room if you have a Pet even if you don't smoke. It Wasn't so bad actually. Got a downstairs room and everything worked. I do wish there had been a table and chairs where there was None. Just a desk and chair against the wall. King sized bed was quite comfortable for What you Pay. Pool was closed down but no surprise there. They could Use a lock upgrade on some of their doors looks like ...along with a new coat of Paint on the inside of some of them. Lots of grassy area to chill or roam. Nobody bothered anybody. I Was disappointed they didn't at least have coffee On the Premises in the lobby (nor coffee makers in the room) for one who likes a Breakfast bar which is why i will giving the otherwise Good service 4 stars instead of 5. ..but I chalk that up as a temporary situation. THIEVIN HOUSEKEEPING HAD MUTIPLE ITEMS DISAPPEAR DURING THE FIVE MONTHS I STAYED THERE .... THE MAN IS REALLY NICE AND CARING HELPFUL GENEROUS PERSON ... HIS WIFE IS NOT ... FUSSED OVER THE HELP GIVING ME FOUR TOWELS FOR A WEEK???!!!
