where to start.. well first off the second shift girls are great.. ie desk and house keeping and cant forget cookies Monday thru Thursday.. yes this place has so many workers that there is evening house keeping. and they would fix what ever the day shift cleaning girls would miss... this was a 50/50 shot every day...
I'm a smoker so I usually get a first floor room. I hate throwing my butts on the ground so I field strip my butts and put them in my pocket. I would throw them away in my trash can in my room.. don't do that they will try to charge you $250 cleaning fee for smoking in your room. after I complained enough they waved the fee and asked me to throw away my butts in the outside trash can.
this place will try to charge you for a day room rental if you don't give them 24 hrs notice that you are leaving. then they tried to say I signed something saying I was aware of this. they could never produce this. I called IHG and they tried to find this as well and at that time they could not find it either. this all happened after I extended my room stay 3 times, I stayed there 40 + days and the hotel would not wave this charge. however IHG corp disagreed with this and refunded the money. this is the only review I have ever written for HIE and its not because the place was great. I had a reservation to return to this hotel at the end of May for an additional 30 days until they pulled the last stunt. so the one extra day room rate they got from me cost them 30 days. I will be heading back that way in a week. but I will stay any place but this hotel every again or until new...
Read moreWe needed a place to stay in New Martinsville for a funeral. We booked a 1 night stay at the hotel with 3 possible issues: we needed to check in at Noon to get ready for an afternoon visitation, we needed an extended checkout time the next day due to the time of the funeral, burial and post-burial meal and we had our dog with us. The staff was incredibly understanding and accommodating. Our room was ready when we got there. Even though they had been full the night before, they made our room a priority. They greeted our dog warmly and with a treat. The dog agreement was very fair and written in a fun language, not legalese. The day we were leaving they told us to take our time. While I was taking stuff to pack in the car at about 4 PM I thanked the person at the front desk again for the late check out. She said again to take our time and asked if we wanted them to get us any coffee for the trip home. She also said she had put a 'to-go' bag on the breakfast buffet for us to take some fruit with us. The breakfast buffet was incredible for this level of a hotel, with the famous cinnamon rolls headlining a great assortment of choices. It was fully stocked even though I got to it 10 minutes before it was scheduled to close. They had a pancake machine that looked kind of like a laser printer but it made fresh pancakes to order. The buffet attendant had written inspiring messages on the bananas. The hotel was less than a year old at the time of our visit in May 2016. IF THE COMPANY HAS AN AWARD FOR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, THIS STAFF...
Read moreI reserved my room directly through Holiday Inn’s website and chose an accessible room as my son uses a power wheelchair. I got my reservation confirmation for the accessible room in email and arrived at the hotel shortly before 6:00 pm. We had been driving for hours and wanted to check in and freshen up before heading for the show we were going to. At the hotel, I was given a typical room and told that I had not reserved an accessible room and that they only had one accessible room and someone else was in it. I showed the front desk staff my reservation confirmation email on my iPad and my iPad was taken to a manager somewhere in the back. When desk clerk returned she said that since I really needed an accessible room they would ask the people in the room to move. I asked if they could even get me into another hotel and clerk told me that they would call me to let me know if we could have the room we reserved later that night after asking current occupants to move to another room.
We got a phone call that the room would be ready after 9:30 pm. I was asked to sign the hotel paperwork for the original room (non accessible) that they assigned me, but I wasn’t given any key cards so we had no way to change clothes or use a bathroom. When we returned after 9:30 we were able to get the accessible room and it was very nice, but nothing was done to make up for not being able to use our hotel room at 6:00 pm when we arrived.
