We spent three nights at this hotel. We most likely will not stay here on our next visit to Evansville/Newburgh.
Positives: New, updated hotel. Our room was clean when we checked in. The bed is very comfortable. The shower in the King studio was great! Breakfast is sufficient, typical hotel breakfast. Wish there were a few more breakfast offerings.
Negatives: We had originally reserved a studio with two queens, (incorrectly assuming it had a sofa) since our kids would be sleeping in the room 1 or 2 of the nights when they weren't visiting their friends (we used to live nearby). We ended up switching to a king studio inorder to have a sofa to sit on during some down time in room. The king studio is very small and the sofa does not open to a queen bed, only a full. Shortly after checking in to our new room, someone on staff unlocked our door and walked in without knocking - quite un-professional and really caught us off guard. The housekeeping is very hit and miss and unpredictable! It appears housekeeping comes to clean rooms later in the afternoon and will not come back to clean if you have a sign on your door. On first day, we came back to hotel around 2:00 p.m to a uncleaned room and put a sign on our door not to knock (only for one hour!) since our daughter was not feeling well and wanted to rest. We had assumed they would come back to clean. When we inquired about cleaning that evening we were told since the tag was on our door for one hour, that they typically don't clean room. Thankfully they did send some one to clean after we inquired. The second day we came back to room later in the afternoon (after 3:00) to another uncleaned room. We assumed housekeeping was running late again. We never placed the sign on our door, so there was no reason for staff to skip our room. We came back around midnight and discovered room had never been cleaned. My husband went down to front desk to tell them and to request clean towels to use in the morning. No apology was offered or reason given for no housekeeping that day. Breakfast was not stocked well our first morning, cereals were mislabeled and one container appeared to have three kinds of cereal mixed together and there was no milk for cereal. Due to the very small rooms, lack of housekeeping and so so breakfast we will not stay here on...
Read moreI checked in at 7pm on a friday night and the ladies at the front desk were wonderful!!! I was in town visiting some friends, so I got my kids(ages17&8) comfortable in the room and I went to my friend's house. We ended up having some drinks and going to the casino.. I got back to the motel around 2am.. Kids were already asleep.. I also went to sleep.. About 10:30 that morning the phone rings, I answer it and its front desk asking if I'm checking out or staying another night. I told her we were all still asleep but that we would get up now and check out. Well then she says that guests are complaining about smoke coming from my room, and that they are calling the police. I explained to her that was impossible because I was looking at my kids and they was asleep as was I before the phone rang. So we get up, get our things together and leave. Another of my friends gets a room there about 30 min later and asks me to give him a ride up there. When I got there I decided to go in and speak to them because I truly hadn't smoked in the room.. They stated the room was engulfed with smoke when they went to clean it, which is a complete lie.. 1st of all Towneplace suites has a fresh or clean air act and have these smoke detector things in every room. If there was smoke the detectors would have went off. 2nd I WAS ASLEEP!!! Nobody was smoking in the room.. So I asked for some kinda proof. Let me see and smell the room. Show me pics of ashes or cigarette butts, something, anything proof.. The lady told me there wasnt anything to see as they had already cleaned the room. And they charged my card $250. I was very upset and crying so I just left. I walked past the window of the room I had stayed In and the curtains were still open so I looked in and the room looked exactly how i left it. Nothing was cleaned. Why did they lie? And I stayed in room 102 so I didnt mistake the window cuz it was the 1st window.. they wont show me any evidence that anything happened and they wont give me my money back. DO NOT GO TO TOWNEPLACE SUITES EVANSVILLE NEWBURG unless you want to be lied to, lied on, accused of things you didn't do, and...
Read moreWorst hotel experience ever! Absolutely disgusting rooms. I would never come back to this hotel. How they got such a high cleanness rating is beyond comprehension. I would never recommend this hotel to a friend or enemy. The woman at the front desk was not helpful nor was she sincerely apologetic. She did nothing for us, would not even provide anything to try and clean the room. She was wearing open toed slide sandals which I think is very unprofessional and unsanitary while working. Also she seemed to never be at the front desk when we needed her. When we were given three rooms to try she never walked us to them we were left to inspect them ourselves. When we would come back to let her know they were just as bad if not worse than the last room, she was hiding in the back and my husband had to go back and find her every time! We tried 3 different rooms and all were filthy. I would not even let my dogs stay in them. I used Lysol wipes to try and clean the floor and it was black and covered with hair after 1 wipe. There was something splattered all over the head board. Fridge was sticky. Carpet was not vacuumed and trash not taken out. Smelled musty. Too many things to mention. Not to mention we were a late check in and had to then check out of the hotel and find another one at 2am. After driving 3 hours all we wanted was a good nights rest and this experience turned into a nightmare that would not seem to end. We also were there on business and had to be up early in the morning. Thankfully another hotel in the area more than made up for this unacceptable experience. We ended up getting to bed around 5am...had to be at work at 8am. Never again Marriott...
