I'm walking to Seattle. Been walking for 205 days from San Francisco to San Diego and back up. I have stayed at MANY campgrounds with Hike/Bike sites. This one is The CRAPPIEST I have Ever been in. I paid my $8 (it's not alot unless you are on SSDI and every penny goes to surviving this adventure and with July Tourist Prices everywhere on the coast...). Was told to avoid the caution-taped site...septic tank issues/leak. There is actually someone Camping in that site!!! So I go look for a good site. Only one left is next to the Cautioned site. The smell is gross. The guy in the Poop Site...is doing tarot in a sewage puddle (there were several puddle of sewage coming up through the ground). Dude also is burning ALL Kinds of things in the fire ring. And when he began dancing around the fire litterally praying to the Poop Gods, I HAD to go. I went back to the kiosk that I Just paid at less than 5 minutes prior. The guy manning the kiosk tried everything but the system won't let him refund me. After walking 10 miles today and 18 the day before...my heel spurs and Fibromyalgia were flaring up. So I had to emergency sleep along the highway a mile or 2 up. I suggest that if you are a hiker, find another spot to stealthcamp or Emergency Sleep. If you are a cyclist, bike to the next campground or some other spot to Emergency Sleep. In my book, this will forever be known as The Poop Campground. Funny that Oregon considers Yachats to be the Gem of the Oregon Coast. I'm gonna remember it always as a Poop...
Read moreThis is a Beautiful camp!! Literally right on the beachside and some of the spots even have your own beach access. The showers are amazing!! (Pro tip, shower around midnight-1am. Everyone is usually done showering by 1030/11 and this gives the water time to warm up and its SUUUUPER hot I love it!! (Soothes my demonic soul🤣😈)
There are two dollar generals both within 10 minutes if you need more ice or forgot anything for your trip; and I'm about to go try out some fishing up in Newport off the Docks to try and catch a birthday dinner! Lots of things to see nearby and lots of great views. Less than 2 minutes walk to the beach from my campsite!!!
All in all a great area (it is kinda hidden off to the side so be careful at the entrance )
It would have been 5 stars if the amazing host (who was on duty at the time) that allowed me to use the day use site two months ago was still here. She is why I chose to come back and to come to this area!!(if you see this, thank you from this girl whose cards got blocked for fraud on her travels, you were a BIIG help!!)
Instead, it was the (off-duty @the time) host who then kicked me OUT of the spot where the On-Duty host had told me I could park/camp... saying "Oh they are new they don't know what they're doing, I'm the one in charge" I was just a little disappointed that the kind host was no longer here; but it was a GREAT experience nonetheless!!

Read moreSo here's a place we lucked out on getting September 2017. It's called Beachside, Oregon. As we have found, it's a difficult spot to book. Fortunately, someone cancelled their reservations and we got in! It's a few miles south of Waldport. The campsite is right next to the beach and ocean, so you can see it right from most campsites. If you are staying in a tent, you may hear road traffic as this place is right off the highway. We only heard the ocean waves crashing from our travel trailer. The campground is open March 15 - October 31. They have 32 Electrical sites with Water, no sewer. There are very clean bathrooms with hot showers too. (There is a dump site at South Beach Campsite or in the town of Newport if you need it.) We enjoyed our morning and evening walks on the beach and taking my kite out and flying it. The people staying there were all very friendly and it was pretty quiet for the most part. It's a great place to stay! By the way, if you get a chance, go eat at Bridgewater Fish House and Zebra bar in Florence, Oregon. It's about a 40 minute drive heading south from Beachside. It was the best food we've ever had on the...
