I just got hung up on by the owner of this B&B while simply trying to explain why I felt we should receive at least a partial refund for our stay on Thursday, May 6. It cost over $250. I emailed and called with no replies until today when Janice, the owner, said no refund and hung up on me! We briefly saw two people during our stay here. The girl who quickly checked us in said the inn was off limits because of Covid. The only other inn-keeper we saw quickly brought us our breakfast (potatoes, a few blueberries and small piece of egg casserole-no drinks - wrapped in foil). I asked if we could eat in the dining area (which was dark and empty) instead of our little room we had been confined to. She was hesitant and said we're really not supposed to but we could if we didn't touch other areas. We have stayed at B &B's and have never had an experience like this. Normally, a B & B has a warm, homey feel with an inn-keeper who welcomes the guests with hopitality. Drinks, and snacks are usually provided and breakfasts are usually much better than average. also, One reason why we chose this B & B was because we wanted a hot tub. However, it was dirty, very small (not like the picture), and worst of all, we were coughing and sneezing because of the overpowering chlorine. My husband was able to stay in for about 15 minutes but I had to get away after about 5. It was awful! Then, it was close to dark and we were confined to our small (charming decor) room, realized there was no t.v., so thought we'd try the radio/record player. We could never get a station and they provided no records. Why would you have a record player and no records? We were told at check in that there was only one other couple in the inn for that night. We felt confined, bored, and abandoned. When we "snuck" out to eat our breakfast at the (dark) kitchen table, the other couple eventually crept out and expressed the same feelings - that things were kind of strange, not homey, and expensive for what you get. I spoke on the phone with a young lady two or three times BEFORE I booked. She NEVER told me we wouldn't have a host and that we couldn't be in the rest of the (empty) gathering space. (We went to a very friendly restaurant down the road with lots of people and not even masks, yet this dark, abandoned place forbids getting out of your small room). We could have just stayed two nights in an average hotel for what we paid for and received...
Read moreIt sounds like some of the properties owned by this business are fairly nice but we did not get one of those. We had very little info prior to arrival regarding how old and "rustic" this cabin was. We only received directions via email to the initial place to check in, and then after driving there, we were very casually greeted and given a hand drawn map (thank goodness we have a good sense of direction and aren't afraid of crazy back roads) to drive another 30 minutes to the cabin, along with our form that states everywhere NO REFUNDS. Should have been the first red flag there.... We wrongfully assumed that the cabin would be comparable to others we have stayed in the area at the same price point, which would be cozy and fairly primitive, but clean. Not the case here. Once we arrived home and dug around online a bit we found many other negative reviews from people with the same issues we had. The setting was beautiful but the cabin (which we were told later was actually a barn converted to a cabin) was so dirty and bug infested we ended up leaving a day early. There are also only a couple of light fixtures and outlets that even work there so even with all of our flashlights we could barely see anything. We were refused a credit for the one night we did not stay. We were well prepared with food and supplies, but not for the dirt, cobwebs, and bugs everywhere as well as musty, stinky, moth eaten bedding. A little pride in this place and some serious cleaning (like actually vacuuming really well, treating for bugs, sweeping under and around the beds as the beds were literally surrounded by webbing and tons of dirt, dead and alive spiders, etc), and replacing all the old worn out bedding would make it a more pleasant experience. We completely understand that a cabin in the woods will have some bugs and dust but this place clearly had not been visited or cleaned in a long time. My husband had actually called the Chamber of Commerce for a recommendation and this was the place they gave him the # for and shame on us for making a trip to a place we knew nothing about. This was a spontaneous trip for us as we have a really hard time ever getting away as a family, and ended up being a waste of our very precious time and money. As people who have worked in hospitality/customer service for many many years, we were quite displeased and disappointed with our experience, but...
Read moreWe spent 3 nights at the Creekside Inn in June 2021. The Good: The location is peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. We enjoyed sitting outside watching the lightening bugs and having the two resident horses visit us at our campfire. It was close to activities in both the park and outside of it. Our breakfasts, delivered to our room in a timely manner, were also quite delicious. This includes, for example, a pastry filled with cranberry, sausage and cream cheese, with sweet potatoes, fresh fruit, grilled peach with blueberries and eggs. The Not So Good: There was no dinner offerings as advertised on their website. The dining area was not open and I highly doubt it has been open for awhile. It may have been due to the pandemic, but it was not indicated on the website and given that most everything else is open in Tennessee, it was severely disappointing. We walked around the property and discovered much of it in substantially deteriorated condition with piles of discarded appliances and other cast offs at various buildings, as well as, a trail that looks like the county landfill. Our own cabin suite, though well built, was poorly arranged (Cades Cove). There was too much furniture, which made it difficult to navigate. There were several unnecessary small tables that could be completely eliminated with a shelf affixed to the wall. There was no place to hang the hand towel at the sink. The TV did not turn on (which was ok with us), but was either due to the surge protector not working or a dead battery in the remote. DVDs were provided, but there was no DVD player to be found. The hot tub was in a totally open area and did not have enough water in it to function properly. FYI, despite a previous review, road traffic can be heard, as it is quite close to Hwy 321, which made it easy to find. All in all, I would say that our stay definitely did not ruin our trip, but it was disappointing and it would be unlikely that I...
